>Everyone talks about their seiyuu flavour of the month >Everyone acts like Maaya Sakamoto still isn't the GOAT of GOATs 21 years mother fuckers, and she's still the best. Also, that heavenly voice is still heavenly
What I love about Maaya Sakamoto is that there is always excellence in her performance, whether she's singing or acting. And she never seems to use the same voice for a role twice. It's always a nice surprise to hear a great song or voice and I look it up to find that it's Maaya Sakamoto.
If being a seiyuu wasn't an idol business she'd certainly get more recognition.
Hudson Jenkins
The one who refuses to sing character songs because such things are beneath her.
Angel Watson
Agreed. I was surprised she was Kaguya in Fune wo Amu, because she actually tries to act the characters.
Hunter Phillips
You say that like it's a bad thing. You gotta have some sort of standards
Carter King
I love her, she's great.
>singing snob On second thought...Citation pls.
Luke Gonzalez
it's already been established that Yukarin is the GOAT. only plebs with shit taste would dare think otherwise
Jaxon Richardson
>it's already been established that Yukarin is the GOAT >GOAT >Damn near ended her own career over a midlife crisis
Let me know when she's anywhere near Nana's level in sales, success, talent and longevity.
Jason King
Too old and already married
Trash!
Anthony Fisher
This.
Jacob Foster
I really love how she voices Shinobu/Kissshot
As well as how I can hear Shinobu when she voices Natalie Portman in Revenge of the Sith
Anthony Davis
That's what makes her better. She's not eternal goddess status
Hudson Foster
Nana is GOAT. I can't wait for Nana to save the anime industry one more time
Gabriel Mitchell
Nana's only good as a singer and an alpha dyke
Jeremiah Lewis
Nana always sounds the same. No range in her voice acting
Ethan Harris
that's not sawashiro
Kayden Davis
Hinata and Lan Fan are the only characters I even recognize on there
Charles Morris
Maaya's acting is top class. She even gave Lightning a kind of personality. I'm less impressed by her singing. She tends to sing high, where her voice is thin.
Eli Foster
Lurk for two years before posting.

John Torres
>Maaya Sakamoto >Chiwa Saito >Sawashiro Miyuki
These three are my holy trinity.
Jack Butler
Why won't she do a character song for Shinobu? Or am I thinking of the wrong seiyuu.
Carter Price
I don't have a source handy, but this is true. She gave an interview a while back discussing how creating music is a personal thing to her, and she wants the songs she releases to come from her, not from a 2D character. This seems to line up with her continuing to discover herself as a musician and writing a greater percentage of the songs on her recent albums (Singer Songwriter was 100% written AND composed by her). IIRC it's the reason White Lies or whatever they used for the Shinobu arc was an instrumental.
This is mostly beside the point anyway since Maaya is a flawless goddess and she can do whatever the fuck she wants.
Jonathan Morgan
Miyuki isn't as close to the other two though. Marina Inoue, Eri Kitamura, and Yuu Asakawa have better range and skills than her as a whole.
Joseph Morgan
>>Damn near ended her own career over a midlife crisis
First I've heard of this; details?
She's also going to be pic related/second best girl in Kekkai Sensen again this year.
When I lived in Japan I rented so many shitty Western movies just so I could watch them with the JP dub track on and listen to her lovely voice coming out of Kristin Stewart's or Natalie Portman's mouth.
Levi Davis
Are you literally me?
Nolan Garcia
True that. Maaya is one hell of an actress; she's supposedly been doing theater since she was a kid, and boy does it show - she's a consummate pro. I've seen her on stage twice, in Les Miserables and pic related, and the presence she has onstage is incredible. "Lights up the room" is an understatement.
Dylan Anderson
I know, but she is a favorite of mine because she voiced many characters I like a lot. If I had to swap her out for another seiyuu I would take Asakawa Yuu.
Jace Morgan
Ah, that makes sense and isn't nearly as pretentious as I worried.
That kid is going to be Megumi Han to the nth power levels of talented. Also probably hot to boot.
These guys are losers. That "iku wa yo" was way hotter than the moeblob lines.
Parker Perez
Is this worth watching just for Maaya's character? I've watched way worse shit just to hear her voice (worst so far is Appleseed XIII. She was also a guest character in one episode of Joker Game, so I have to see that now too.)
William Gray
>That "iku wa yo" was way hotter than the moeblob lines.
Yes, but I also liked how the tone of her voice change three times in the span of 10 seconds.
Colton Gonzalez
Almost as great was the way there used to be all kinds of rumors that she and Mamoru Miyano were an item. It probably did a good job of drawing attention away from her and Suzuken.
Carter Watson
He looks gross
Nolan Martinez
That's not a good picture of either of them (though I do find the bags under her eyes pretty moe).
Michael Evans
They both look like they were forced to do a photo shoot at the end of a 16 hour workday and they really can't wait to go home.
Maaya's pants look nice though.
Ethan Rogers
Not really. Depends on the role. Try watching Burn-Up Scramble seventh episode and the Witchblade anime.
Getting back on-topic, who here has watched Risky Safety?
Nathaniel Powell
She certainly have a goat's face, I give you that.
Dominic Rivera
Best role: I still really like her as Hitomi, honestly. Best OP/ED: Be mine! (Zvezda) and Buddy (Last Exile) have grown on me extremely.

I'm still pissed she didn't do a Shinobu character song
Samuel Mitchell
Really weird she still hasn't had a Pokemon role until now considering how long she's been in the industry and the fact that her husband voiced Steven last season.
Gabriel Campbell
Well, Nana is mostly known as singer than a seiyuu, nobody will mention Nana, if aspiring seiyuu being asked who are they look up as seiyuu but if they are idol seiyuu wannabe they will mention Nana as the seiyuu they look up to or want to be.
There is this seiyuu general election yesterday when other popular seiyuu picked their favorite and Nana can't even make it top 25, I expected her to be in it but then I realize her popularity come first from her being a big pop singer than a seiyuu.
Only Miyukichi made it at #4 from rather young generation though she is actually veteran
Caleb Rivera
Looks like Aoi.
Juan Morgan
I really love the fact that she married Mikiya's VA that is some cute stuff. Only reason I even played FF13 as well.
Hunter Phillips
Yesterday was horrendous. Nice reminder that there is an entirely different kind of bias in that sector of the industry. And Sawashiro has been phoning in performances for years now.
Jack Garcia

She is the worst case of overrated.
William Anderson
>Seiyuu general election >90% males >looks down upon new generation female seiyuu because of their career choice(singer/idol), completely ignoring acting ability >yet Yamadera only gets the places he gets in those polls because he host a dumb variety show Epic. Simply epic. That Suwabe got into the Top20 because of Yaoi on Ice speaks tons about the event.
Kevin Rivera
>typical koebuta That is what typical mad idolseiyuufags said. Kek, why would popular seiyuu pick another seiyuu around their pear, when they know the politic making stars and idols behind their popularity. Those veteran are in those jobs for years and still relevant, they are legend. >Put down Yamadera Why are you such low human being?

Cute af and getting cuter with the passing of every year the blood of failed idol seiyuu must be keeping her youthful
Lucas Moore
>And she never seems to use the same voice for a role twice Absolutelly this
What I hate now is that seiyuus nowadays always use the same voice for all the new roles they get, such as Hanakana o Hayamin
Landon Murphy
I only find that a problem when they get cast too often. Voices might be the least important thing until they become too recognizable as HanaKana rather than the character.
Ayden Williams
One day I will marry Yukari and make her happy
Camden Rivera
>I only find that a problem when they get cast too often Which happens quite often recently. A seiyuu gets big and then is voicecasted in 4-5 different roles in a season using the same voice.
The latest example being Takahashi Rie

The amount of OP samefagging in this thread is utterly disgusting

I see it as a business-side issue (large quantity of seasonal anime + archetype characters streamline typecasting + low pay + idol marketing strategies). Something actors don't have much control over.
Dominic Foster
