Don't get me wrong. It was a kickass chapter. Plenty of pretty action, but as always, Tabata doesn't know how to make his character interactions and dialogue engaging or interesting. All we got was "raaaaaghhhhh. um swingin muh saurds again" and the obvious "evil is bad. don't do that" pep talk from asta to hate girl. It just was not first place material, at all.

I think that's mostly because of Jaimini's shitty translations. Viz's does a little to mitigate the cringiness of the dialogue, but there's only so much you can do to salvage poor writing.

8 chapters but you need to count the current chapter too, like the week c8 is released is when c1 is ranked. So subtract 7 from 197 and 190 was ranked in last week's issue.

well, he bit One Piece about as hard as you possibly can with his previous series, Mitsukubi Condor and it looked terrible and justifiably flopped. Probably tried to distance himself from it this time around. I will say it's a massive improvement, at least art-wise

The last new series to get a color page before getting cancelled was Mononofu. It got one 11 issues before the axe came down. So I'm guessing Number One will last through the next two rounds at least.

I just noticed that One Piece is the only WSJ manga that has a spoiler thread up currently. What the fuck happened? I know a lot of heavy hitters like Nisekoi and Bleach ended last year, but there was a time where other series like Beelzebub and Psyren and AssClass had threads up before the new chapter dropped.
