A goodbye to Shakugan no Shana

In 2002, Shakugan no Shana became the first 'modern' Light Novel.
In 2005, it became the first anime adaptation of a Light Novel.

For many years, Shana reigned supreme as the queen of anime. Sup Forums. Japan. She dominated everywhere. Shana was the face of anime if ever there was one.

But the influence of Shakugan no Shana wasn't a good one. Her series poisoned the anime world in a way that no franchise ever has before or since. The damage caused by Shakugan no Shana continues to this very day.

It's been five years since the last material was released - since Shakugan no Shana III finished the March of 2012. I think it's time the world said goodbye to Shana, and anime was released from the shackles which bind it.

Commit the kill yourself.

>In 2005, it became the first anime adaptation of a Light Novel.
Not even close to being true.

But the era of the Shana clone has already ended, long ago. Even that which replaced her, the Kanahana Domination Period, has waned.

But kanahana is back in full force.

>In 2005, it became the first anime adaptation of a Light Novel
No.

>poisoned
What?

Anyways, I'm here to pay tribute. Shana and her series will always hold a special place in my heart. As much as I've criticized J.C. Staff in the past of poor adaptation of Shana, I do praise them of their wonderful seiyuu, musical productions, and visuals. And for finishing the Shana projecting all the way to the very end.

A distraction from the real issue here.

>I'm here to be part of the problem, not the solution

I fixed your sentence for you.

Where the fuck are the LN translations, fuck Tokyopop seriously

Shana can almost be considered a classic. The fuck are you doing?

>problem
What the hell are you talking about?

Use your head and put two and two together. Or just one and one, if 2 + 2 is too difficult for you.

Now think about it Shana is also part of Isekai LN.

Boogiepop LN did that first and SnS is hardly the first anime adaptation of a LN. Your research sucks.

Not seeing anything, Cap. Have a melonpan.

>it became the first anime adaptation of a Light Novel.
That was Slayers.

Never spam in my thread again.

So you're spamming your own thread, senpai?

Shana appreciation thread? Shana appreciation thread. Post melonpan.

God
Shana
Hot
Etc.

Shana is still best girl and top tsundere after all these years. And guess who recently won international saimoe?

This is no longer a joke.

Maybe Hina's year is right around the corner.

>Mastermind Yuji obtained youthful mid puberty eternal life with his pure virgin waifu while solving all of the world's problems and leaving that gutter trash Kazumi back in the old world
One of the best mc's. He's also really sexy when he's alpha

I hated his ponytail.

Hina won 2009.

His voice made up for it, though. Honestly might be the single sexiest voice in anime history.

What ever happened to Satoshi Hino?

Shana and Yuji deserved their eternal life together in happiness.

>youtube.com/watch?v=VR5zSiLFQKI
We'll probably never get another MC like him any time soon.

Oh snap, you're right. So, all this time then...

>When you realize that Yuji has already merged with another being before
>Shana won't be his first

It took him like a decade to become alpha as fuck and by the time Shana 3 came out, I had already lost interest.

B-but didn't Shana use her PoE to sustain him on occasions? That's basically melting essences together!

S1: really good

S2: Worst season, school antics and messy romance during the day, battles at night. Hayate was so fucking obvious.

S3: Forced 52 episodes into 26 episodes. At least one couple scored in the end.

>>In 2005, it became the first anime adaptation of a Light Novel.
>Not even close to being true.

Ok, it started the ball rolling

Haruhi Suzumiya REALLY galvanized it

Thank you for contributing meaningfully and not spamming my thread like repeatedly did.

Second half of S2 was good though. S3 was rushed, but it had good action and fast-paced plot for the most part.

Shana is the cutest.

God, you're butthurt. I first gave honest input, then you turned around to insult and when I asked what you're getting at since you avoid explaining yourself, you went ahead to be a dick. At least I posted Shana, who is relevant and always a nice thing. On the other hand, you haven't contributed or explained anything once in any of your replies.

OP is an idiot anyways. Don't mind him too much, friend.

What the fuck is up with these recent "anime review style" shitposts? OPs post looks like some shit from MAL. This is cancer on a whole new level.

Sorry, I've just been trolling you because you seem cute. (The OP was authentic though)

God damn are you trying to kill me?

I guess.

>trolling
At least you admitted it.

Aww, I didn't realize you were sensitive.

Should've posted Noire instead..

This was one of the few good things from 2016.

>saimoe
>2016
It's still fucking going?

Look at this dumb looking kuudere with a goofy pillow on her head! Who could like a girl like that?

Shana is hot!

I recently rewatched it over the holidays and I still loved it. Shana still the cutest.

Shana has the cutest porn.

Wow, that is cute.

Are you feeling less moody now, my kouhai?

You know it.

Kotsu is a god

Shana was very popular but was never THAT popular. She never was the face of anime like Evangelion did in its prime. I think you're over exaggerating. I loved Shana (for the most part, season 3 was a colossal dissapointment for me) and I remember her fondly but I doubt anime is or was "chained" by her influence or anything. If anything the would be Haruhi.

For years after its release every anime tried to be the next Haruhi giving us a SoL high school setting with a twist and pseudo-intellectual dialogue. Fortunately the trend has bend fading out in recent years (isekai is all the rage now). So who knows what will be the next bunny everyone will try to follow.

Is that actual magma?

How old are we user?

How long have be we been stuck here?

Please don't sexualize my waifu.

...

>Isekai
>Literally "different world"
>Shana takes part in our world
what the fuck are you smoking famalampai

No stopping.

How the hell are there still people voting for Shana in this day and age?
Clearly, I need to start following that damn competition beyond "See how far my waifu goes this year".

To be fair there hasn't been many memorable girls in recent years. Aside of girls like Asuna, Kirino or Madoka/Fate ones the rest are seasonal level at best. The Fast Food-ification of anime probably has something to do with it.

I really liked her design. Sadly, she was a bitch to the very end. Poor whatsisname died for nothing.

shana was never good

There's at least one girl that sticks around every year, above and beyond their respective shows. Kurumi from DAL or Saya from Dagashi for example. Shana should've been as sidelined as Haruhi by now, if not more.

Was the LN ever translated? I swear I saw quite a few volumes up many years ago but I haven't seen them again.

B-T had a translation effort that got DMCA'd years and years ago, yep. (somewhere around 2009, I think?).
Doubtful you'll find anything nowadays though.

The only thing Shana did was make every romcom featuring a loli romantic interest be voiced by Rei Kugumiya and have the male character be named some variation or Ryuuji, Yuuji, Luigi.

What poison? I thought the one that popularize isekai LN with shallow harem is SAO.

...

I too hold the series close to my heart, I still like it because of the "nostalgia" factor, but honestly I could not like anything else like it thesedays. It hits ALL the stereotypes, does everything we have seen 35263764354534590385039 times in every anime ever today. In some ways that shit ruined anime by being so popular.

Pretty sure Slayers was the earliest light novel adaption. And Scrapped Princess was adapted two years before Shana.

Viz licensed it 10 years ago and then dropped it after like 2 or 3 volumes. They are probably still sitting on the license.

Great thread, fuck off.

Alright, look. In Summer 2005, the season before Shana "poisoned anime," there were 16 TV anime. These consisted of three highschool harems, three highschool romcoms, two mahou shoujo, two mecha, two terrible non-mecha sci-fi-action shows, one non-romance highschool comedy, one highschool sports show, one elementary school CGDCT, and one show about the shinsengumi as cute girls. Shana didn't really do any major damage.

Would scrapped princess be worth checking out today?

I downloaded it a while ago during a freeleech but never bothered.

REBOOT

WITH 100+ EPISODES OF KUGIMIYA RIE GLORY

ADAPTING THE NOVELS PROPERLY

FUCKING WHEN?

Remove flame haze they are the true oppressors.

>ADAPTING THE NOVELS PROPERLY
Out of curiosity, what did they change or did not cover from the novels?

>mfw S2 will never ever have a good fucking DVD/BD release

Best part of S2

>forgetting Zero no Tsukaima
Speaking of, anyone know when they plan to release vol 22?

CGDCT shows were a thing in 2005? I thought that after Azumanga Daioh, they disappeared until Lucky Star.

It took me a few years to realise that Ito did the art for both Shana and Haruhi.

So not worth watching at all?

Starting for skipping most of Seirei's inner dialogues with Yuuji before S3, as I remember they interacting as soon as when Whilhelmina appeared, tried to take away Shana and Yuuji almost killed the maid with the big sword of the incestual twin.

Shana will always be the hottest.

Too bad JC Staff fucked up Yuuji's transition with the snake between S2 and S3 with those OVAs.

Also a entire vol, where appears the previous user of Alastor, the maid, the guy of white hair that appears in S1 and the Soul collector in his true form, but a least this have a manga

Yes, user, summer 2005 featured Ichigo Mashimaro, i.e. the show that literally created the term "cute girls doing cute things."

Sadly we will never get a complete translation of the series, which is the saddest part of the whole mess.
