Usually the problem I see with advocates of libertarianism is that they overemphasize the rigorous individualist imperatives of the ideology at the expense of a comprehensive notion of communities and voluntary networks that could account for the lack of a social welfare system that a minarchic or anarchic state would necessitate.

Absolutely not, I meant exactly what I said. You guys are both materialists. Communists believe that people are kept oppressed and in shambles by their material conditions, and it can be remedied by collective ownership of the means of production. Libertarians see material conditions as a means of individual (and eventually, collective) uplift, and believe that principles of competition and government-nonintervention are the proper means to this. Both starting premises involve material, economic factors being virtually the sole factors dictating people's capacities and trajectories.
