So tell me Sup Forums, what point in the album are you living in? I'm at Nobody's home and I'm wondering how long it'll take before I go full Run Like Hell/Follow the Worms

The point of the album is that the wall comes down user

Yeah I'm at In the Flesh right now, I am seriously considering moving to Ukraine and joining the neo-fascist Azov Batallion. Once I'm in Ukraine I'll be at Run Like Hell. I'm a bit surprised I haven't seen this album mentioned on Sup Forums before, it should be required listening. Too bad Roger Waters IRL is bleeding heart. You'll probably be on my level in a year.

The part where I listen to the exquisite sounds Roger Waters gently plucks out of his Rickenbaker with drop-D tuning.

That's shortly before society drags him out and shits on him. Which would happen to any fashy who is exposed before their peers

Good thing he hates Israel. He's so close

Personally I wouldn't give a fuck, my family owns an MG-34 and an MG-42, when I was a kid I found SS pins in my garage and wore them to school, all my friends know I volunteered on the Trump campaign and my close friends know I think Hitler did nothing wrong (except lose). I own my own business and house and the last girl I dated is a Finnish nationalist. Don't give a fuck son.

Yeah that's good enough for me lol. I saw his tour this year. I was amused to see Trump's face in the Pig.

he's 74, and sees it as "white people" being mean to brown people
close yet far

I don't typically agree with Roger on most things political, but this album + The Final Cut perfectly capture growing up in post-war times.
I'm about a One Of My Turns right now

You give me hope, but I'm trying to get a job in the media so I have to hide for a bit.
The belly of the beast is where I need to go

Can I get a rundown on what this album is about? And why is it called The Wall?

Same here.

:O
>I'm so old today's youth never listened to Pink Floyd as part of their teenage angst

What does this mean?

The wall is a story about some guy who struggles with building walls around himself and he needs to TEAR DOWN THE WALL!

It also includes the song "Mother" which has a lot of coincidental parallels to Trump

or something.

You could say it's about a number of different things, growing up with a WWII father in Britain obviously included. But it's much to do with the emotional angst of growing up and having to deal with shit happening in your life, fears for your future, and the emotional wall you build as a result.

It's about a man named Pink Floyd who delves deeper and deeper into isolation. Certain obstacles in key moments in his adolescence and adulthood are attributed as bricks that he uses to build a wall to keep the outside world at bay. That's all I'm willing to tell you. I don't want to spoil the album for you, user

Deep shit. Thanks!

>Babys first prog rock band
Wew

The funny part is the running theme in their albums. Animals, Wish You Were Here, Division Bell, even some of the tracks on Dark Side of the Moon. Tales and woes of their fears of separation, betrayal, and suffering.

Can you recommend more prog rock bands

Have any suggestions?

Yes
King Crimson
ELP
Rush

Its deep when young the older you get the more he sounds like a crybaby.

He was raised by single mother after all

Well, it sounds like that's how he felt at the time. There's nothing wrong with sounding like a cry baby when you're young. We all go through that.

Magma

What is ELP

>Genesis
>King Crimson
>Yes
>van der Graaf Generator
>Gentle Giant
>Tool
>Dream Theater
>Rush
>Emerson, Lake, & Palmer
>Jethro Tull
>Steven Wilson
>Ayreon
>Opeth
>Camel

Jeez i wish i was at the beginning of my prog journey again lol

checked Emerson, Lake, and Palmer

Yeah, at the time. But the point is you're supposed to get over it at some point, not be stuck in the bad shit that happened to you when you're young.

I've never listened to Pink Floyd intentionally. I've heard scraps of their songs, but never sat through a whole song, let alone album.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Prog supergroup

For more, check out:
>The Nice
>King Crimson
>Atomic Rooster

plus the ELP albums "Brain Salad Surgery", "Tarkus", and "Trilogy"

maybe you should set the controls for the heart of the sun?

They called it "album rock" in the day, as in you put the whole album on from front to back.

It's probably a good thing to do these days, since no longer does one get up and physically put a vinyl album on and commit to the time and experience of listening to a whole side at least.

Animals is the best album, cap this. DSOTM and The Wall are great but Animals toes a line between prog and punk rock all around an Animal Farm concept.

Early Genesis
Marrilion
Queensrÿche
Dream Theater

Suppuration, Timeghoul, Gorguts, Athiest -- prog death metal

Yes and King Crimson are my favourites
I personaly never really liked Pink Floyd even tho i never was on a bad Floyd concert

Another brick in the wall.

The first record of Ummagumma is something special if you want to get an idea for where post-Syd Pink Floyd came from.

I am at the point where I burned the album because it was degenerate drug induced boomer trash produced by jews.

I went to a Yes concert once thinking
>well
>they're old but this should be fun anyway
And they fucking played Tales from Topographic Oceans all the way through. That was so cool.

Prog Rock and Metal
The ultimate white man's music

>"H-hey guys I'm an edge lord XD rawr!!

you sound like a teeny edgelord

this is a nigga with real music taste

oooooo wowwwwww you know the wall? duuudddeeeeee weeddd lmaoooo
fuck off. this was their shittiest material. Give me ASoS or echoes.

YES AND KING CRIMSON CONFIRMED OFFICIAL MUSIC OF PALAU

Didn't his dad die in WWII?

Quadrophenia > The Wall

The part where I realize Waters is a one trick pony who knows how to replicate the same melody into different arrangements where he allows other musicians to shine thus making many of these replications seem original. But he’s really a hack and a Britcuck faggot.

>tfw just remembered I fell for the memes and bought a copy of In an Aeroplane Over the Sea
Sometimes I miss being innocent

You burned a vinyl record you paid for? Way to stick it to the Jews

This

Do you lock your door? That's a wall.

about right here

...

That's Geddy's hand position and lack of pickup cover. Roger plays with a plectrum (at least most of the time from what I've seen).

the show must is regular day with no happenings on Sup Forums

youtube.com/watch?v=ldsJ0laYn6s

I think roger is a time traveler

true, but the wall fits Sup Forums waaay better

>drop d tuning in the wall
what song? I don't remember any

This is about immigration isn't it? and by "DJ" I think he meant negro

youtube.com/watch?v=wMykYSQaG_c

I hate The Wall. Only the first few Floyd records do I actually enjoy. The wall was very dirty, gross and way too fucking depressing. The record has some good stuff, yeah, but over all it sounds too 80's, complete with cigarette smoke and vodka-flavored hooker kisses.
Apologies, I didn't answer the question, just wanted to get that off my chest.

It’s about white people rejecting modern society
That is pretty Sup Forums

m.youtube.com/watch?v=w2W1-69yraU

What're the best Yes & King Crimson albums?

oh fug you're right
I have a hipshot on my bass and I must have had it tuned so that D was actually E when I was learning it.

You know what I hate is when there are recordings you like to play along with that are sped up or slowed down or otherwise tuned in between and then you forget whether you're a half-step up or down when the next one comes on. Suzuki method has me trained by ear.

>Yes
Fragile
Relayer
Close to the Edge
the first two are fun as well, but slightly different genre

>KC
Court of the Crimson King
Lizard
Red
B'Boom
they cross genres much more, so each of these is something rather different

Agreed. Also, nice

You should try out Ultimate Spinach
youtube.com/watch?v=TqWVRSDcVzM

great music but shitty concept; for me the wall is how rockstars think they are great shit and adopt leftist ideologies that are false as fuck and makes them lonely and mad.

Jesus Fuckin Christ why are we talking about prog in a thread about Pink Floyd

Thanks, I'll check out all of them.

because Roger Waters is a faggot.

Well yeah...but it kind of applies to anyone who doesn't fit right? Sup Forums is a bit more than that

Anyway, tbqh I'm no specialist in story concept of this album, I just enjoy Pete's music way more than PF. Perhaps the topic would be worth a thread on it's own

Oh wait.

>KC
Lark's Tongue in Aspic
and maybe trade B'Boom (live compilation) for THRAK (studio)

It's hard to decide.

Art really is an amazing. thing. To think the wall is pro fascism.... wow

Or actually The Nightwatch (live) rather than Lark's Tongue (studio) if you're trying to prioritize. A lot of the same material but then you also get more of the live improv vibe.

I'm probably in Goodbye Blue Sky at the moment, getting there

Quads would have been very Sup Forums

>The song was originally intended to be a part of a rock opera called 'Quads' which was to be set in the future where parents can choose the sex of their children. The idea was later scrapped, but this song survived and was later released as a single.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=GgOyqdN2SaE

Early genesis are a must.

CONFUSION

WILL BE MY EPITAPH

its bizarre how I've never met one single person in my life who has even heard of king crimson and here I find people recommending the live version of the nightwatch

the return of the giant hogweed is a classic

...

Its about the Berlin wall

Went to see Roger’s Us and Them tour in LA 7 months back.
I don’t think he’s the guy you want him to be. Love his music but his politics are SJW tier nonsense

>what album are you living in
Pic related

you do know it was an insult to facism, right?

back cover is 21st century autist Sup Forums

this, but unironically

So you’re trying to tell me that when he says he wants to shoot Jews, coons, and drug addicts he was being satirical? Colour me surprised!

actually its inner sleeve my bad

the wall is clearly a metaphor for the ways people cope with pain via drugs, sex, etc

I'm waiting for the worms

>that combo

Patrician choice my man
