Most Japanese fantasy cliches stem off misconceptions/poor translations from early western tRPGs.

In the case of pig orcs, it's because old D&D orcs actually *were* pig faced.
This is also where dog like kobolds (mistranslated) and over-sized weaponry (molding wasn't super great back then, so fine details (like hands and weapons) were done to a large scale than the rest of the miniature) come from.
