Why does Japan hate "childhood friend"-type characters?

Why does Japan hate "childhood friend"-type characters?

Math a shit

unhappy memories, it almost never work irl

> it almost never work irl
I doubt that's an actual reason since the "opposites attract" meme is used all the time in anime & manga

Most things don't work out in reality.

>irl

Please kill yourself

Because it is an asspull, everything the other girls did was all for nothing.

Because when you have a childhood friend who likes you in real life she's guaranteed to lose, because you don't really think of her as a romantic candidate and instead as a friend.

t. Faggot

From what I've observed, they somehow convinced themselves that childhood friend was an archetype that won too much so they put them in the backburner.

>childhood friend was an archetype that won too much
Name 15 shows where the childhood friend won.

They love childhood friends. It's a common romantic archetype. Every other series has one. Not 'winning' all the time doesn't mean they hate him, but being so prolific while not always 'winning' gives off an impression.

Only reason childhood friends don't usually win in Anime is because its catered to the wider audience. In h-manga, where its natural, childhood friends win often and more so than others.

>They love childhood friends
Then how come they never win?
It's simple, they're just there to add to the MC's harem.

because that won't advance your family's station by marrying into the local girl next door family instead of the richer girl's from the city family.

Are you referring to doujins?
They're there because it's easy to write a story of fucking an old acquaintance, since the explanation of them loving the MC is pretty easy to write.

Pretty much this. Just mangakas being scornful pricks.

>Then how come they never win?
Because you're a casual. I swear one 'wins' every fucking year.

As if having the osananajimi being rich or part of an old respected shinto family is rare.

Then name one from last year.

He said hmanga, not doujins.
Get it together.

Chitoge

That's why i asked.
Can you read?

>nisekoi
I stopped giving a fuck to that series when it was just a filler.
IIRC wasn't literally everyone childhood friends?
They're also separated for years i think.

I said they convinced themselves that was the case. It's not uncommon to notice that track of mind on harem shows and VNs where the childhood friend is generally seen as one of if not the largest romantic obstacle. I remember they even joked about it in Grisaia.

Does it count if every eligible girl was a childhood friend?

Speaking of Grisaia is it actually good?
How's the MC and the story?

If your contention is childhood friends never win, then it counts.

An h-manga that's stuck with no updates doesn't count.
Author also abandoned it for a harem series IIRC.

That doesn't count and you know it.

Why? Because you say so?

Because almost everyone is a childhood friend.
They also don't remember each other in the earlier chapters, meaning that they're separated friends.
The one that counts for me is if they stayed together.

But onodera is the childhood friend

Presumably because there's no other option available in that scenario?

If that's honestly the only example you can think of then you just proved OP correct.

They don't, Eriri will win the Saekano.

>Because almost everyone is a childhood friend.
So? You said they never win and one wins.
>They also don't remember each other in the earlier chapters, meaning that they're separated friends.
That doesn't mean shit.
>The one that counts for me
It doesn't matter what counts for you. It counts period.

They both are.

Irrelevant. The contention is childhood friends never win. In this manga, one wins.

A childhood friend won. Stop grasping for straws and watch more anime and read more manga.

>Stop grasping for straws and watch more anime and read more manga
Okay then, ignoring what counts for me, can you name at least 20 or so where the childhood friends win?
Also no h content if you can.

>people complain about childhood friends never winning
>picks an counter-example made up exclusively of childhood friends, and then accuses others of grasping for straws
I'm not sure what you're trying to even do here

>The contention is childhood friends never win
They don't. The fact that you had to resort to a series where it's the only possible choice where childhood friends have nothing else there to lose to as usual says it all.

>honestly the only example
The poster asked for one last year. He got one. How is OP correct about Japan hating them when you have a series with multiple childhood friends and one wins? He's wrong and you're a retard if you agree.

>How is OP correct about Japan hating them when you have a series with multiple childhood friends and one wins?
Is Nisekoi the only series you've ever read or are you seriously unaware of something that other anime/manga/LN outright poke fun at all the time?

>>people complain about childhood friends never winning
>ask for one from last year and get one
>complains about the scenario
>They don't.
Feel free to start grasping.

And how many is that? 16 ranging from what? 1999 to fucking 2017?
Nobody means they literally never win.
One of them in the pic is even a fucking guy.

"Poking fun" at the notion of them being losers doesn't mean hating them. It doesn't matter anyway because they do win sometimes.

>Stop grasping for straws
Oh the irony.

Because his example is terrible and being a pedantic cockhead doesn't change that.

I don't think the Japanese are quite that fucking retarded.
Besides, the entire fucking point of their culture is insincere modesty. Status wouldn't affect anything aside from what people say behind your back.

Kusocharcters don't count

>How is OP correct about Japan hating them when you have a series with multiple childhood friends and one wins?
Did I say that series where they aren't shat on don't exist? I'm referring to an extremely common usage of the character type, pretty much everyone in this thread managed to immediately pick up except for you somehow.

Not even just referring to them "not winning" either, typically childhood friends are there as obstacles and get little in the way of an ending/sendoff at the end. Doesn't always happen, more often than not it does though.

They are a few examples. You get some and you're still bitching. What do you want?

Sounds like you're moving the goalpost, friend.

Stupid ugly bitch...

It's been stated. They're a popular romantic archetype but aren't always going to be the endgame. So there's a compromise: they're added to stories but as rivals or something.

>Nobody means they literally never win
Somehow i get the feeling that you didn't read the rest of my post and several other previous posts.
How many harems and series are there again?

>shitsato
>not pure shit

OP was talking about archetypes in harem/romance series. Although technically she is a childhood friend, Chitoge doesn't fit the archetype of a childhood friend- she's a classic tsundere.

Tsundere is a personality, childhood friend is not a personality outside of gag manga.

You might want to look up what that means as it's not in anyway applicable to my comment. Again, this is pure pedantry.

Childhood friends usually represent the life the protagonist left behind. They usually win when they don't.

>Why does Japan hate "childhood friend"-type characters?
>childhood friend TYPE
Having said all that, I don't actually agree with this assertion but I don't need to mention a Chitoge to debunk it.

Not like you animeonly cancer ever get to see someone "win" so this is a pointless subject.

>Nobody means they literally never win
Then why cry for an example? You even complain about quantity.

They don't always win. Big deal.

>Because it is an asspull
Only for a hack writer.

No need, it perfectly describes what is being done. Terms that also apply to you: clueless, obstinate, sore loser.

>Then why cry for an example? You even complain about quantity
That's exactly my point actually.
They win, but only for very few times.
That's why OP asked for why Japan hate childhood friends.

>Terms that also apply to you: clueless, obstinate, sore loser.

No need to get so mad over a dissenting opinion, user. Have a lovely day.

Because the people who write animes in Japanese society are loser outcasts whose main audience and income are foreigners like you all who've also never had things work out for them. They assumed you all would like being able to relate to it but no you don't

I ain't mad at cha. You still my nigga. We in this 4 life

Excuse me, I'm actually alpha as fuck.

A mere nigger... H-how dare a mere nigger!?

If they were a competent writer then they wouldn't be writing anime/manga/LN/VN

>Foreigners like us
>They assumed we all would like being able to relate to it but no we don't

At least be a little honest with yourself

Fair point

As opposed to writing what?
Majority of everything is always shit, but that doesn't mean that there aren't sometimes actually good stories in them.

I understand what OP means and feels. My problem is there are people who actually do believe that and honestly think they're never endgame. It's not entirely their fault, it's the result of having a popular character type and not giving them the endgame. As shows, there are writers aware childhood friends have a loser tint due to that. Others unwittingly buy into the loser meme and write their stories that way because that's how it's usually done.

Face it, a childhood friend has a huge possibility of being fucked if included in a story with a strong romantic/harem focus. They have fair chances in other stories where it doesn't hurt to pair one with the protagonist. I remember people would complain that they were always the token love interest in anime, manga and video games. Now it's the sentiment has been reversed.

source me friend

>things that will never happen

Who doesnt?

Saekano: Koisuru Metronome. It's a spinoff though, so your ability to enjoy it may be dependent upon your familiarity with the main series.

god bless you friend

>spoonfeeding
This is why Sup Forums is dead.

I searched for it myself and nothing came up. Sup Forums is deader than dead, source requests are mundane compared to the shit being allowed now.

I guess so, but just because there are worse things doesn't mean you should ignore this.
You have to be a complete fucking newfag who watches zero anime to not know saekano.
Next time don't. You're one of the problem of this site.

The site is the problem. Death is the solution.

No it isn't.
If it were then you wouldn't be here.
Faggots like you just refuse to believe that you like being on Sup Forums, so you create the delusion that Sup Forums itself is what is chaining you.

Yes it is. Liking or hating Sup Forums is nothing to do with it. Countless others you despise like Sup Forums as well. You're fighting a losing battle against them. The only way to spite them is to have it die, as the site you want is dead.

First loves are agonizing.

They're so fucking pure, boy and a girl. No bullshit, just the simple joy of spending time together. Literally a best friend and lover. Your first kiss, your first time holding hands, teasing each other, etc.

It's understandable why you don't want to go there.

But it's fucking not.
Look at Sup Forums's state right now.
It's bad sure, but it's way better than any other boards for sure. Why is that?
That's because of Sup Forums's elitism. And spoonfeeding is going against it. Kill yourself.

Because in real life the childhood friend almost always ends up with some riajuu.

Math didn't want to win, she instead decided to save his childhood friend's relationship and be a bro and a best but also alone and homeless.

Wake up and access reality. Sup Forums degenerates along with the rest of the site. It holds some ground but continues to give away more and more. Things unacceptable years ago are accepted now. You pick and choose what to be elitist against.

In the end, your rage proves impotent. The reddit mods don't help, the admin doesn't help, the posters don't help, you don't help.

Why do you think that is retard?
Because instead of admitting your faults and mistakes, you chose to ignore that you're the problem.
People like you, who think that this site is going worse and is unchangeable is one of the biggest problem. Instead of trying to help, all you do is just whine and do nothing.
Why do you think i'm not helping? I'm answering your retarded questions earnestly and call out on spoonfeeding, which is certainly more than can be said for you.

It's more like she wants to win a familial relationship with the guy, not a romantic one.

Probably, but she couldn't have that when he had a girlfriend already.

Yeah, I'm the problem. And so are you, you shitstain. You're the one impotently bitching and moaning. How are you making anything better raging like a child? Go make a thread and actively contribute.

They sure are popular in porn though.

Make a thread of what? And actively contribute what?
Actions speak louder than words. I'm making it better by at least calling out on anything retarded, such as blogshit, normalfags and spoonfeeding.
And what exactly have you done instead? You didn't call out about spoonfeeding. Insteado f that you're trying to justify it.

>Make a thread of what? And actively contribute what?
If you have to ask, you're the problem. Seems all you're good for is stamping your foot and thinking you're not a shitposter for participating in meta discussion. "Calling things out" didn't do shit. Instead we have this cordial offtopic discussion ruining a thread. Good job, kid.

>this cordial offtopic discussion ruining a thread
This whole reply chain wouldn't have happened if you didn't reply to me saying that Sup Forums is the problem, but instead you did to likely prove your "superiority".
You're retarded and you have not done anything here, you ignored my point that actions speak louder than words and instead thinks that calling out things didn't contribute anything.
I have contributed to the thread by being that user who answers the OP. There's nothing more to discuss about the OP and that's why the thread is dead save for you and me.
Here's your last (You).
