Harry Potter is about a teenager bitching his way through the story while other characters do the actual job 99% of the time. Sounds pretty appealing to lefties.

Everyone I know either likes both hor hates both.
I like both

fighting against all odds, hope is kept alive by true believers, men of the west unite to vanquish evil

orcs are once again defeated as is their master

Hermione always saves Ron and Harry in pretty much every book.

LOTR is a group of 12 men and no women

>Muggles
>Mudbloods
Harry Potter is more into racial supremacy than LOTR ever was

LotR is about taking responsability, overcome big obstacles and controlling urges and tempation. No lefty would want that. They want free stuff, depend on the nanny state and living in a bubble.

Harry Potas is about fantasy and having powers out of nowhere. That's one of the questions they ask you in the psychological test in the army and I always wondered why (would you want to have superpowers?). It's a sign of meekness, fantasazing about it means you want things spoonfed to you and you prefer to avoid challenges.

I hate both

You are talking bullshit, there is no correlation at all.

Lord of the Rings is a story about individual and societal strength and bravery in the face of hopelessness and was written by an English WW1 veteran and professor of Anglo Saxon.

Harry Potter is about a privileged child born ‘special’ written by a Scottish single mother.

>LotR appeals to right wingers
If you even went out of your house you would realize that everyone loves LotR. Left wing, right wing, old or young.

Stop believing memes so much.

/thread

They both appeal to a fuckton of people

Oh man I never thought about it that way.

I've loved LOTR and hated HP always since childhood. It's called having good taste.

Harry potter is about how jews are raised in a non-jewish society

We go to special programs to learn magic you goyim muggles dont understand

Lord of the Rings is for adults

Harry Potter is for children

LOTR is an allegory for Christianity and the timeless war of ideologies between eastern and western schools of thought.

Harry Potter is modernism incarnate, it presupposes man as the measure of all things. It's moral message is dubious at best and it lacks no deeper meaning than the story as is presented.

I'm a neo-nazi and love harry potter.

My underground cell is called dumbledore's army. We bashed a transexual to death because he looked like voldemort.

Most of my friends are now, unfortunately, locked up in azkaban.

Having powers out of nowhere... like getting passed a ring that turns you invisible?

I do no think there is a political split involved. but I can see why some right wingers would be against a book that is basically an attack on racism.

at the same time i think it is wrong to call them right wing - they are often closet socialists, often not economically literate, and not really socially conservative, just hateful little scumbags.

why don't you ask why racists don't like Harry Potter (but I do not think they particularly favour LotR anyway.)

Those powers come from somewhere... And with a price. Therefore the overcome the temptation part. Hobbits have no powers on their own.

Wizards basically spend their lives in college learning how to fly, cast spells, and what not.

In Lord of the Rings, all races must come together to defeat authoritarian evil, and even lowly hobbits matter.

In Harry Potter, you're either born a wizard or you're lied to your whole life and irrelevant to greater world affairs.

(Leftists are racist.)

Because you need a higher intelligence to understand and enjoy Tolkien.

Also Potter was written by a woman. So there' s that.

Also a race of mestizos lives underneath the dining room and does nothing but cook for magical children.

Hogwarts is a metaphor for LA.

This. LOTR is a celebration of the Catholic/Pagan values that Tolkien held dear.
Harry Potter celebrates mediocrity triumphing over villains based on a strawman take on Nazism.

Connecting you cunts to the internet was a mistake

Nothing wrong with female authors

>"LOTR is an allegory for Christianity and the timeless war of ideologies between eastern and western schools of thought."

Have you even read the novel? This is so far off.

LOTR was written by a white south african, and the orc masses invading and spreading the darkness are the demise of their world. The white elves and wizards are the hope.

Harry Potter on the other hand quite often portrays "wizards" discriminating normal humans as "muggles". Clearly this should make you think castes are a bad thing since you were put in the worthless caste.

pretty accurate

>Also a race of mestizos lives underneath the dining room and does nothing but cook for magical children.

Holy shit, you're right.

And Harry treating a house elf as even vaguely human is treated as some great moral victory.

Harry Potter is a weak, pussy faggot. A lot of leftists identify with this.

It gets them all excites when the loser, pussy faggot fuckboi wins.

Lord of The Rings shows strong men winning. The total opposite of what they are.

YOU'RE FUCKED

...

Who gives a shit about gay little magicboi and his feminazi gf.

because Harry Potter resembles somehow Nazis
Evil white Voldemort (and blonde Malfoy family) despise and want to take down wiards without clean bloodlines.

This, Harry did fuck all until the end and everything was given to him on silver plate. Frodo had to struggle through the whole trilogy and he still kept true to his values

I like both but didn't like the LOTR books but the movies and didn't like the Harry Potter movies but the books

because lord of the rings is good at least

AH YES! It's no coincidence that the blonde wizards with pure lineage are portrayed as bitter, spiteful cunts.

Just picture dobby as pablo, the man that harry rescued (hired) from out the front of the home depot.

Hobbits have extraordinary will power and courage. Gandalf said so.

never read lotr or harry potter, but all the movies suck

This is so apropos it should be stickied to this fucking board.

I read Lord of the Rings as a Child.

I Read/Watched Harry Potter as an adult.

I love both, I'm also conservative.

because left wingers like to fuck children.

true though they also in part have no desire for power itself despite still feeling fear and being mortal. They just want to live comfortable lives hence the Shire becomes almost like a second Caras Galadhon or Rivendell in Gandalf's reckoning.

Tolkien was a pagan /fasc/

I feel obligated to post this. Save it, read it and call out marxists. Also
>"I found it pretty funny that all these leftist "nerds" always used Star Wars, Harry Potter or super hero movies in their political analogies, but I have never seen a LOTR analogy. Never realized leftists were so bothered about it. It's strange how they all seemed to subconsciously agree that it is a series that shouldn't be brought up in political discussion. I don't think any of them actually consciously came to this conclusion."

Tolkien literally was the reason C.S. Lewis converted to Christianity.

I can't make heads or tails of this user

What the fuck am I reading?

In the end they will see they were wrong

cause he was a cuck?

BTW, does someone here find it surprising that everyone loves the castles and medieval looking buildings in both Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter? Shows you how modernist architecture simply can't compete

Harry Potter is keenly tapped into the lefts will to have duopolies of reality in ‘realtime’ the right sees lotr as a fantastical allegory. Whereas Harry Potter is incredible self indulgence elitism in that there is the entire normalcy and tepidity of real life still there outside the world of the wizards and shit. That separation and the in group amoung weaklings tuning in together to some other world with other devils granting them everything and anything to justify pursuing their contorted ends in both worlds. It’s constantly referenced that Voldemort and all that affects the normal world in Harry Potter and not just the wizards. It’s peculiarly spot on in this fetishisation of being hidden superheroes who do what the nonmagic proletariat cannot, especially when men and women are equal in the wizard world hence the numbers of fandom.

One autism to rule all threads, one autism to find them, One autism to 'akshully' them all and on the imageboards post them.

Voldemort did nothing wrong

Because Tolkien was a devout Catholic, you idiot
>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._R._R._Tolkien#Religion
>Tolkien's devout Roman Catholic faith was a significant factor in the conversion of C. S. Lewis from atheism to Christianity, although Tolkien was dismayed that Lewis chose to join the Church of England.[110]
>According to his grandson Simon Tolkien, Tolkien in the last years of his life was disappointed by some of the liturgical reforms and changes implemented after the Second Vatican Council:
>"I vividly remember going to church with him in Bournemouth. He was a devout Roman Catholic and it was soon after the Church had changed the liturgy from Latin to English. My grandfather obviously didn't agree with this and made all the responses very loudly in Latin while the rest of the congregation answered in English. I found the whole experience quite excruciating, but my grandfather was oblivious. He simply had to do what he believed to be right.[94]"

>MEN OF THE WEST
wait a second
What's the chance Tolkien predicted the future?

>things I dislike
>things I like
it's not how this meme is supposed to work

((they)) Like harry jew head

>Why does Harry Potter appeal so much to left-wingers?

Because it's got little kids in it. Left wingers are pedos. They have a entire marketplace to sell and trade them.

Catholicism is 90% paganism 10% Judaism ..... YOU IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Hobbit definitely didn't need to be 3 movies.

As well as Chesterton and George MacDonald

>LOTR: anti-industrialist, anti-fascist, pro-environmental

>Harry Potter: Anti-racist, anti-government, pro-racemixing.

Both left wing for the time they were written. Just read them and enjoy them as well written stories, or ignore them. But don't base your political ideologies on novels containing magic.

>Catholicism is 90% paganism
>We wuz catolicz and sheitttt
Stopped reading right there. I thought Aussies were supposed to be good at bantz

Hairy Pothead appeals to libtards because Its about magic and fantasy. The characters cope with reality by distorting it with potions and snappy little phrases.

People think I'm joking when I say "voldermort did nothing wrong"

Wow, really? Didn't know that part.

That's quite impressive since Lewis and Chesterton were some of the best writers on theology in the modern era.

found the mudblood.

Im with you man, fucking childrens fantasy

Their past talent is snarkiness though, they can move around incredibly quietly and unnoticed, hence how they're able to get into mordor.

In 'surprised by joy' he cited 'the everlasting man' and 'phantastes' as reasons for his conversion

Why are African males such alphas? Is the warrior gene? The increased testosterone leading to higher crime rates, violence and high risk behaviour?

White boys are so boring and "safe". Girls crave excitement and most of all BBC.

Hairy is sent to Hebrew school to learn the ways that are verboten to non jooz and learns how (((someone))) is always better than (((someone))) else.

It's not for a lack of trying to do the same thing...

I bought a tellie license put ross kemp on and still got nothing.

Good thing you alone settle the norm eh

At some point some retard will begin speculating in a harmful way and others (purists) will argue against said claims ad infinitum. If you have ever seen a LotR thread before you would understand the image and why it is an important lesson outside of fiction as well.
>hurr durr i am only pretending to be illiterate

*a ring that grants ability according to stature but also will kill you if you use it too much.

Are you looking for the interracial porn channel? You have to pay extra for it.

In spite of its name, the BBC is mainly news and documentaries.

Not really surprising that a leftist would like one the dullest franchises in the history of movie franchises. Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the books were good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

...

It's quite simple actually
LOTR
>Band of white man untied under the same flag to defeat armies of black "orcs" controlled by a trickery evil force
Harry Potter
>Race-mixed kid and his "open minded" friends fights against a literally Nazi wizard using the power of love and tolerance

Those anons sure did get mad at the prospect of finding allegory in LotR. I get the danger of subjectivism in ACADEMIA but you have to get pretty far up your own ass to argue all creative works exist in a vacuum. Are those effortposts seriously trying to say that finding thematic parallels between fictional literature and real life makes you a servant to cultural Marxism?

>Calling Dutch faggots because of some African migrants
>Meanwhile his entire country is becoming a Chinese province

Except that she's clearly a feminist and a leftist

i wish we called libshits mudbloods more. it would trigger them so badly.

I honestly have no idea what you posted. I'm just guessing and using siri to plug my thoughts in and solve captchas.

>go for an ugly black that look feminine

LOTR is just a good story that appeals to a lot of people, not just the right. It's thick with lore and is the primary inspiration for almost the entire modern medieval fantasy genre.

Harry Potter is millenial nostalgia that hooked a generation by selling them what they knew (school life) with an exciting twist (magic & adventure). It got so popular because it was one of the few books the generation actually read. It superficially condemns racism but fails to actually hit at any of the root causes & still allows for aggregate stereotyping of entire groups in an extremely tribalistic manner. It provides the best of both worlds. You get to pretend you're solving a deep seated issue humanity has struggled to find a solution to throughout its entire history. AND you get to shit on the "bad guys". You just have to overlook the fundamental hypocrisy.

That's actually not a bad idea. I can already hear their autistic screeching

This is actually a brilliant idea.
