I'm not sure if an anime adaptation would work. Maybe I'm being close minded but the way this was the kind of story that only works well within the manga medium, I can't imagine an animation being as good.

I think it's the pacing of the story that wouldn't go so well in animated, I think it would be somewhat boring to watch.
I think the closest there is to Fujiyama-san (that I know of) is Kyou no Yuiko-san, although it ended with some unnecessary drama.
