The ground floor is the base of a building. The name comes from being at ground level of the outside. First floor is the first floor ABOVE the ground floor. Second is the second floor ABOVE ground level. So hence G, 1, 2. Ground serves as a base. Not our fault ameridumbs can't do 1+1.
