Question is, does it work on porn?

Yeah, just let me point my phone at my computer screen to read the subtitles in realtime while also watching the anime, that seems like a good idea.

Just tested on a doujin I always wanted translated. Yes.

Thank you so much OP at last I'll be able to know what my favorite chinese adult cartoons say!

>subtitles
>on japanese
you are doing it wrong.

but google's translation is shit right?

>owning a smart phone

I want phone posters to die. Might be useful if you're a tourist but this has nothing to do with anime

someone post a page in jap and same page translated and ill compare

Eh, it's not the best, but at least you get to know what they say, you just fill the gaps with proper english.
Shit like "oniichan" to "elder brother" and other cultural aritifacts. Still, better than waiting or paying for a translation.

Because we all know Google translate does a fantastic job at Japanese.

It's cool no doubt, and ideal for visiting the actual country, but won't mean much for our Chinese cartoons.

Have you never actually seen a full machine translation before? It's absolute shit, complete garbage, utterly useless.

Only way to truly enjoy a work to its fullest is to learn Japanese. I'm not even joking.

from [MonsieuR (MUK)] Tiny Evil 2 [Digital]

Google Translated Jap->Eng is terrible

>Eh, it's not the best, but at least you get to know what they say
Try and hook up Visual Novel Reader set with google translate with any untranslated VN. You'll be in for a ride

I get that you're being sarcastic but Google translate does a good job

t. butthurt irrelevant fansubber

>Letting google read your porn for you
Yeah nah I'd rather stay under my tinfoil blanket

Its pretty terrible. I just tested the Tomo page and it's random ass gibberish

I use visual novel reader with Google translator and I do it because it's better than the other options.
Of course it's not as good as an actual translation but you're fooling yourself if you think you won't be able to understand 99% of what is being said by just using your brain a little.

Google translate is absolute garbage for japanese.
It works real good on other languages though, but I forget which. I think it was something like Norwegian or Swedish.

>tfw Google is likely more accurate than the rewrite you're reading.

>people who don't know Japanese themselves think they're qualified to judge the accuracy of a translation based on nothing but the translation in question itself

Never fails to make me mad.

What VNs have you read using this way?

Google Translate is decent for Spanish. It's still much worse than a competent human translator but unlike with Japanese it gives you a reasonable approximation

>google translating japanese
yea no thanks
shits unintelligible most of the time
just try comprehending 2ch right now through google translate
you cant

I don't remember the name but 3, it's a series of mother/son incest nukiges.

I tried this on something with multiple lines and it doesn't work at all. Guess it needs to be single words or one short sentence.

tfw they don't teach relevant 2ch Japanese in text books

>sub and tran teams can now retire
Oh really? Let's take a look at how Google translates the One Punch Man's synopsis from Wikipedia

>Youth and stuck to the job hunting Saitama is, save the broken boy's chin from Phantom had been rampage in one day town. At that time, I remembered the dream of a young age "I want to be a hero", decided to stop hiring and become a hero. After 3 years of hard training to lose all your head hair, you gain the strongest force to defeat any enemy with a blow.
However, since it was always settled with a single blow, gradually lost the feeling of tension to the battle, and now he was sending lazy days as he became a hero.

Yup, stellar translation work there, Google.

>nukige
Here you go.
Try reading something like Muramasa and "understand" what's being said.

>sub and tran teams can now retire.
Then explain to me why nearly all bounty requests on panda have "no machine translations" in then.

Are Americans really this stupid? You can't fill in the blanks and mistranslations with your head?
I guess it could be related to being a one language speaking retard

But that sums up OPM perfectly.

>feeding more info about your porn reading habits to google
What a great goy.

>Machine translation
>sub and tran teams can now retire.
Ok.

He's right though. All translation is bad, no exceptions, machine translations are just the worst option in an ocean of shit.

>google won't roll out their new AI translation service

What is this bullshit google? We know its miles better than the current shit. Why not release it?

As long as google can then translate it better and better each year, I'm fine with that.

>EOPs
>dumb

Pick two.

>You can't fill in the blanks and mistranslations with your head?
If I really need to it's easy, but it completely ruins immersion to have to decode every single line to understand something.

You must buy a Google++ Account account to access the latest translation tool.

2.

>Google

>letting the botnet know what you want translating

Is somebody who speaks multiple languages including English but not Japanese an EOP?

>google translate
Yeah I love my gibberish

That's not how you read in another language. What the fuck is wrong with you?

Pretty much, given it essentially means people who do not speak Japanese.

You get what you paid for.
Just like horriblesub rips from Crunchyroll/Funimation.

Easy to "fill in the blanks" when you already know the real synopsis yourself.

>doesn't work me for
Why not? Is it not available in my country? I have the latest version, and it works with other languages like Spanish/English.

Machine translator hooks have been around for years. And yes, it is a fairly easy to understand the output. But do you really enjoy reading that?

>not using the full offline .apk version and having a dedicated phone with no sim and its on airplane mode 24/7

Pleb

No. EOP means english only peasant.

>he believes in AI

lurk more

> it is a fairly easy task

Typo.

It's not very good even when you take a still picture

Just call them baka gaijins.

Machine learning is a powerful thing with a silly name.

Original:
富士の風や扇にのせて江戸土産
ふじのかぜやおうぎにのせてえどみやげ

Translation:
Edo souvenir on the Fuji wind and fan
Put on Fuji's cold or rice porridge

Great job, Google.

>machine learning language
Yeah no.

You can speak a hundred languages, but if you're still relying on translations for everything Japanese then you're an EOP in all ways that count.

You can't lurk what you don't understand. Slang should be included in textbooks not 300% proper grammar that will make you sound like an old person to the young people. This is an issue with every language taught in the US actually.

Holy shit, even Kanjitomo is better than that.

Is it even possible to make good machine translator with the current level of tech?
I mean google translator is the best we've got at the moment and although it gets the basics done it absolutely loses its shit anytime you introduce sentence structure that doesn't really exist is the other language, or even something as simple as words with multiple meanings. And far-east Asian languages absolutely love that shit
Do we have to wait for advanced AI to actually grasp something as complicated as human language?

>You can't lurk what you don't understand.
neo-Sup Forums everyone

There's a bunch of pages that explain 2ch slang.

Good luck with handwritten text & small text in shitty image.

Except I don't. The only thing I know about the one meme man is that he looks like daiz

>I am a complete idiot
Let me help you. The technologies they call "Machine Learning" are very powerful, but they have a very silly name.

God, that's awful.

>advanced AI
hahahahahahaha.

I know you're trying REALLY HARD OH SO DAMN HARD to troll and sound clever at the same time but there's no "blank" in the text, and you can "fill in" a mistranslation when something is utterly impossible to understand because it follows absolutely no logic.

Machine trad is shite. Now get the fuck out.

>Do we have to wait for advanced AI to actually grasp something as complicated as human language?
You could learn Japanese in the meantime, you won't, but you could.

tomo has heavy rewrites on the translation
it isnt bad but it is a rewrite fyi

There is no way to efficiently teach the algorithm how to translate.
Language is far more complex than reading sensor data/images.

>It follows absolutely no logic
Just proving yourself to be a complete retard. I should've expected from the people who elected Trump

If you know standard Japanese and have the internet and a brain at your disposal you can learn slang, be it stereotypical manga slang or real 2ch slang.

>he doesn't know Advanced Neural Network

can't you set it to read top to bottom?

I'm talking in general context, not just as the tool to watch my chinese cartoons. As if in will we ever reach the level of tech when learning languages becomes obsolete because machines can actually do it correctly

I'm skeptical too, and I know we're far from having a machine that does a proper job at translating something, but I have no basis to affirm categorically that it can't be done.

>neural networks
That's a buzzword and nowhere near "AI"

>people are unironically saying machine translation is perfectly fine
EOPs never learn.

Fucking great. I can't wait for every stupid ESLfag ever to skip reading spoilers on anime suki, use this on their phone and then shitpost with incorrect translations about how every is a secondary and they totally read the LN.

>Version: 5.7.0.RC02.145020128 (57000262) for Android 4.2+ (Jelly Bean MR1, API 17)

>le americans are so stupid le meme
Jesus Christ just fuck off to whatever shithole you crawled out from

neural network translation should be around the corner, maybe the next 5 -10 years before it's fully implemented.

> save the broken boy's chin from Phantom had been rampage in one day town. At that time, I remembered the dream of a young age "I want to be a hero"
Top-tier writing logic.

Also, it's an insult to languages as a whole.
I also noticed that you aren't very clever yourself for tagging me with a 'murrican flag randomly.

Eh, anglos are working on machines that should be able to understand all kinds of English, nips are working on machines that should be able to understand all kinds of Nippish, once both sides have their machines that understand their language and dialects, somebody just has to program it so that the machines understand each another through some binary shit or whatever.

Well, I don't really know for Japanese and other retarded languages, but for Spanish-English it works quite well.

man is also just a machine

>implying this guy knows anymore than the person who translated
They could both be wrong. "Professional" translators gave us *dragon sounds* in fire emblem

Thanks user, now I hate the world a bit more in advance to it actually becoming more detestable.

Machines don't "understand" language.
They use pattern recognition to match something someone says with their preset commands.

the tumblr translation for Tomo is closer to a rewrite than an actual tranlation
the japanon who does a translation in the replies does a way better TL

If you just wanted to say "I'm an idiot and understand nothing" you could've done so in a lot fewer words than that.

He's not wrong.
But feel free to point out his mistakes.

Your country just elected a failed business celebrity as president, son. You are the laughing stock of the world.

You haven't denied it so I'm guessing I'm right

I'm not sure you can do it with Asian languages, but with others it isn't bad at all. I think it works well with Germanic languages.

Well to be fair computer seem smart as long as you don't how they work

Its amazing at Chinese
