Happy songs actually make me sadder, because it contrasts to my current depressive mood. Is it just me? The fact that this song was purposely created to squeeze the most amount of happiness into one song with science actually sounds pretty dystopic and makes it even worse.
Sad songs make me happy because it feels more real to me. Especially when sung or played from the soul.

This has the same problems as usual:
- based on least common denominator
- averaging, non-maximizing
- "wider audience"-seeking.
As such it isn't the happiest christmas song for anyone, it is merely the most likely song to be happy for the widest group. Each group being part of a smaller, more specialized group, nobody is happiest via this song since this smaller group could have been targeted to improve happiness further for that specific group (and so on).
The also completely confuse "most people are happy" with "people are most happy".
Moreover, it's obvious that the method use for the determination (if there even was a true determination process) was to have groups make songs and compare scores through a focus group between these songs, i.e. only one of a few choices was ever available, therefore there exists songs which are nowhere in this span that are probably significantly happier for the same least common denominator.
