I'm sure the 1000 sexual partners is less prevalent nowadays since more of them are having "traditional" monogamous relationships, but promiscuity was definitely the top transmitter in the 70s and 80s.
Sexual deviants, whether they be homosexuals, pedophiles, necrophiliacs, sadomasochists, etc, are much more likely to exhibit multiple forms of deviancy than normal, heterosexual people.
Also, a minor can be going through puberty or be post-pubescent and still be a minor, as was most likely the case with poor Robert Rayford at the time he contracted HIV. Statistically, it's pretty clear that homosexual men are much more likely to molest pubescent male minors than heterosexual men are to molest pubescent female minors.

Alright, so approximately 1/3 of child molestation victims are male, with the overwhelming amount of perpetrators being male. 28% of U.S. youth ages 14 to 17 had been sexually victimized. Males in this age group have almost all begun puberty. Thus, less than 2% of the population (male homosexuals) are molesting 9.33% of youths age 14 to 17 (or 18.66% of men age 14 to 17). That's insanely disproportionate, in comparison to the heterosexual population.
