a thread to talk about the movie and be jealous of those who are actually seeing it. Also a general Yu-Gi-Oh! thread.
Why is Atem so great? does anyone NOT like Atem? Does Anzu X Yugi ever happen? If Jou is canonically the strongest, but a late bloomer, when does he reach his potential? Why is Shadi such a fuck up? How do we get BASED KAZ to write a new manga or an egypt prequel or something
Does anyone know if the dub of Dark Side of Dimensions retains the music of the original japanese release? Or did they decide to throw out all the music like they did with the dub of the show?
I heard a preview of the OST from the japanese release and it's going to rock my fucking boat if the music got canned.
Charles Morgan
>Does anyone know if the dub of Dark Side of Dimensions retains the music of the original japanese release?
Nope. All 4K music. They even changed the ending theme, which is an english song, to the dub theme remix.
Aiden Diaz
Do you understand how triggered I am right now Like tumblr on election day Fuck this I need to get my hands on the japanese version
Grayson Butler
O N E MONTH so should I go see it at the cinema or just suffer through one more month?
Gabriel Brown
>tfw my local cinema use jap dub and eng sub Get fucked, amerifats.
>Why is Shadi such a fuck up? Muh duty to the Pharaoh. Seriously, he would nuke the whole whole himself if it would push the Pharaoh's destiny along.
Alexander Rodriguez
Don't know, mate. It's been like this since Kimi no na wa.
Ryan Evans
This image pretty much sums up the manga and DSoD from what I understand
Gabriel Thompson
but he went about everything in the WORST ways possible. and apparently Bakura killed him, which is just.... pathetic
Noah Turner
Hah. You're watching the dub then. I've heard of some complainants from Aussies who said they watched the dub despite the Japanese cast being listed.
Landon Butler
>and apparently Bakura killed him He was a supernatural entity for 3,000 years; I excuse that murder as a mere flesh mask.
Carter Jones
I'm in the US, and there are some screenings where the Japanese cast is listed, but i'm pretty sure theyre only screening the dub in the states. wait He was ALWAYS dead? wtf (pls no spoilers)
Josiah Rivera
>Kisara isn't standing next to Seto Oh, boy, does this mean she really was sticking around Kaiba for Transcend Game/DSoD? >cucked by your descendant
Adrian Lopez
This assumes you've read Volumes 36+37: He's a spirit from the afterlife who was summoned by the father of the Pharaoh as a counterbalance to Zorc. He has a duty to guide the Pharaoh to his destiny.
Nathaniel Adams
Kisara, Mahado, and Mana didn't get reincarnated, they became the cards. Kisara IS Blue Eyes White Dragon. Mahado IS Black Magician etc oh i have read the end of the manga, yes. Huh. so... hmm How did I miss that? Everything with Shadi was fucking confusing. so Basically Shadi was never even alive, he WAS always dead, even in ancient Egypt.
Charles Torres
kek, this also means he was sitting around doing literally jackshit from after Atem defeated Zorc until Yugi put the puzzle together.
Aiden Robinson
He went around killing grave robbers with the Millennium Scale
Josiah Jones
oh yeah, thats right. Atem's tomb is mostly intact then, isn't it? I dont remember if it was ever shown.
Leo Thomas
In a sense, if he can only appear when Zorc appears, then technically he should not have existed while the puzzle remained unsolved; only when Yugi completes the puzzle would he be able to do shit with Pegasus/Bakura/Aigami and so on.
Nathaniel Nguyen
>Jonouchi does fuck-all during the movie Lame-o
Jonouchi movie when? I need him beating the fuck out of Kaiba and Yugi while fucking Mai at the same time.
Nolan Jones
Katsuya Jonouchi beaing Yugi K E K
would he even be able to get Mai? she was like 10 years older wasn't she?
Aaron Rodriguez
>Kisara, Mahado, and Mana didn't get reincarnated, they became the cards. Yeah, but is supposed to be after Atem loses and walks into the afterlife, and Mahado+Mana are welcoming him there. Kisara should be with Seto if her duty is done, but Transcend Game/DSoD confirms it wasn't.
Nathaniel Ward
i haven't seen the movie; did Kisara appear? i think that art is just fan art?
Then again idk Maybe she DID get reincarnated, and she's another person out there. Mahado and Mana were priests, and Mana would have wanted to be with her master.
Speaking of which, should Mana have ended up Way more powerful than Mahado when all was said and done?
Justin Lee
right, okay this is what was lost on me. I wasn't sure if he's around when the puzzle isn't complete.
Justin Powell
>Katsuya Jonouchi beaing Yugi He already beat Atem who was also using all 3 gods cards and got back his Red Eyes because he doesn't need no pussy-ass god cards of jobbing.
Meanwhile Kaiba was so butthurt about not being able to beat Atem that he pretty much killed himself to get another chance at it, just to job again anyway.
And the only way Yugi could beat Atem was through hardcore counterdecking as he knew he had no chance otherwise.
Jonouchi > Yugi >>>>> Kaiba
>Kazuki Takahashi considers Seto Kaiba and Yami Yugi weak in comparison to Joey Kaz agreed. Don't bother him about it.
Henry Bell
okay, so i'm thinking even more, Magic&Wizards/DM couldn't come into existence until Yugi completed the puzzle.
So I guess he was a pretty busy bee considering only a few months passed between Yugi completing the puzzle and the CARD GAMES!!! arc beginning.
Parker Clark
I dunno if she appears in the movie, but she does appear in Transcend Game (the prequel manga to set up DSoD). As for Mana, she should be equal (series effect of DMG is +500 for every DM in the grave) to slightly less powerful (TCG is +300) than Mahado.
Jose Harris
Yeah, no one was able to break into Atem's tomb until Grandpa.
Matthew Rogers
>>Kazuki Takahashi considers Seto Kaiba and Yami Yugi weak in comparison to Joey
The Mediocre Man's Humble Spirit --In that case, you could say Jonouchi is very "strong," couldn't you? Yes, you could. I believe that Jonouchi has a quite important place in the story. I think he has great potential strength. That's why a little loss would never be enough to make him give up. There are many messages I try to convey to all my readers through Jonouchi's role.
Compared to Jonouchi, I consider Dark Yugi and Seto weak characters. In specific, I draw Dark Yugi with heroic qualities, but he has his really weak points as well. In a way, the normal Yugi is overwhelmingly more strong than Dark Yugi. It's no exaggeration to say that Normal Yugi, Jonouchi, and the others' strong points help support the single 'piece' that is Dark Yugi.
They are childhood friends moving to different countries, there is literally no chance.
Isaac Wood
>I hope it does. Kill yourself.
Anzu deserves to die on a random NY street after getting gangraped by a bunch of niggers while she cries for Atem to save her but him never coming.
Daniel Allen
You're wrong. Truth and love always finds a way
Levi Martinez
>Anzu >Loving Yugi
Nathaniel White
Oh god please no.
Can any Ausfags confirm?
Ayden Phillips
Anzu hates midgets. She wants a real man
David Fisher
>you will never play an Egypt prequel game where you summon monsters from your life force to kill fools, get bitches, and cause mass chaos before getting rekt by the kingdom's high priests Forbidden Memories doesn't count, it's too "card game"-focused. I want Ka, Ba, and unorthodox battle tactics like breaking stone stabs and attacking the summoner directly.
Michael Phillips
go to japan and beg Kaz
a spin off video game could be non canon and work; i think its not impossible
>tfw YGO anime duels will never be this good ever again Feels bad man.
Logan Brooks
No Silent Magician T_T
Leo Hill
From playing children's card games, duh.
Bentley Johnson
>movie is actually playing near me Should I go?
Aaron Price
thats what OCD can do for you, specially when you are focused in getting revenge against someone.
Ethan Morris
Do you want an Obelisk card with limited edition art?
Evan Allen
Are the YGO spin-off series any good? I only watch the original and should I invest my time to watch all of them?
Isaiah Sullivan
Not a fan desu.
Matthew Jenkins
Yes but I also have social anxiety and worry about looking out of place at a kids' anime movie
Isaiah Murphy
Early 5Ds is pretty good, like the first 64 episodes, even though I would argue it starts falling apart at the 40s. But that's about the closest you get to the feel of the original.
The others are up to you. They're radically different.
Nathaniel Butler
I just realized: the Millennium Spellbook/Tome (you know, the item that beget the Millennium Items to begin with) still exists somewhere. Zorc 2: Shadow Boogaloo when?
Eli White
Meant for
Adam Barnes
nah I doubt we'll ever see anything of the original yugioh ever agian
Kevin Ortiz
how would that work though? it just means Zorc could reappear, and someone else could garner the power of the millennium items, but... idk it'd be even less tied to egypt unless, somehow the items were connected to other spirits, or the items could call egyptians from the afterlife?
Jaxon Brown
This is the only leaked clip of a full duel from the movie, Kaiba vs AI Atem
Well shit. Do you have anyone at all you can invite? I have a feeling a fair amount are going to be older fans anyway, despite the fact that it's a "kids" movie.
Chase Nguyen
This Arc V was shaping up to be one of the greatest with its opening salvos but it shat the bed hard apparently.
Zexal pissed me off by episode 10 and GX is iffy for fans of the original.
Open question, does Zexal have good character development or nah?
Justin Fisher
Just realized--the manga takes place in the 90s, DSoD is like...1999 at the LATEST kek i want to click this so bad, but i also dont want to spoil myself
Jason Morgan
BDs soon isn't it?
You can wait.
Wyatt Russell
>Blue Eyes CHAOS MAX Dragon >BTFO by laser dodging DMG and homies >DEEP EYES WHITO DORAGON >BTFO poor Lemon >Megaman Gandora X >MUTUAL KILL
Already like this movie more than the first one.
Ryan Mitchell
>Zexal have good character development
It's all right. I don't think it's as good as characters from the original/GX/5Ds (1-64) but it's a hell of a lot better than Arc-V. Zexal does take a LONG time to get to that though. Like most people agree you need to get to Zexal II to start getting payoffs which is like mid 70s.
Luke Hughes
60 DAYS
Jacob Bell
More like 39
Noah Nguyen
What happened to Kaiba abandoning his hate and making theme parks?
Jordan Richardson
Virtual theme parks save construction costs. And this is more a need for closure than hate.
Christopher Fisher
well, his neuron Duellinks system seems to be a part of the theme park scheme.
Brayden Jones
He most likely left his hate in the ruins of Alcatraz and probably built theme parks while Atem was playing the ULTIMATE RPG or during the 6 month time skip from end of manga to movie.
Charles Anderson
Kaiba doesn't seem very hate free in the leadup manga.
Gavin King
Did Atem just cuck yugi for kaiba at the end?
Daniel Gutierrez
i wouldnt call that kaiba hateful, i would go with 'obssesive' or 'demented'.
but its not hate.
Alexander White
I would argue he's more obsessed/crazy at the idea of seeing Atem rather than being full of hate.
Henry Morales
I second this
Ayden Rogers
Yes, yes he did
Robert Myers
I never understood this.
if kaiba is the reincarnation of the high priest then whos is that guy in the afterlife?
are there 2 kaibas now? someone please explain i can't sleep!
Carter Robinson
This movie should have been called 'shipping through dimentions'
Aaron Carter
good question!
i think Kaz didnt planned this thru, so well leave it as 'Kaz was high at that time.'
Jonathan Baker
Yes there are two Kaibas, its a time paradox, they didn't show both because that would be overly complicated to explain for the ending sequence.
Dylan Wood
The guy in the afterlife is Kaiba's past life? I mean you could say the same for Sugoroku and Siamun being his past life that was also there in the afterlife.
Anthony Johnson
Yugioh souls can be split into pieces. It's one of the powers of the millennium items and I assume it happens during reincarnation. Seto and Kaiba each have a piece of the same soul, just like Yugi and Atem.
Nathaniel Baker
past life. Priest Seto=/=Seto Kaiba reincarnation is wonky, so just think
Preist Seto was pharoh and then went to the afterlife and has been waiting for Atem. Seto Kaiba is alive and well. he's a different person. same essence, different person
Gavin Russell
Throwback movies like this get wide crowds. Both DBZ movies at my local theater had a really wide age range in the audience.
Ethan Harris
>time paradox Has there been time travel in the manga at all? a time travel/paradox YGO story could be interesting.
Nathan Perry
Is Kaiba less of an asshole in the movie?
Andrew Moore
from what I hear he's less of an obnoxious prick and just more of an autist
Ayden Ortiz
He didn't do anything because that would mean making Red-Eyes good while Konami was trying too make Blue-Eyes meta defining.
And Konami couldn't let Blue-Eyes fail.
Hudson Perez
>making red-eyes good but i thought Red-eyes was good in the meta? and i mean, really isn't it on Kaz that red-eyes isn't that great. BEWD>BM>Red-Eyes but Red-Eyes gets Metalmorph, and Atem is Atem, which still means Kaiba outranks Jou.
And from what I can make of the current meta, BEWD has a fucking metric ton of support, and is actually FEASIBLE, whereas BM is shit and nothing but nostalgia, and isn't actually usable.
I mean, fuck The decks Yugi and Kaiba run in the film should have been totally feasible decks for the current meta, and they weren't.
Speaking of which, what would Atem's deck look like if he were deck building now?
