is NNB the perfect slice of life anime?
Is NNB the perfect slice of life anime?
Of course, now where is my Okinawa part 2?
The best I've seen in the last 10 years or so is Flying Witch
Yes, it is.
Late 2018.
Of course no, watch more sol.
That would be Hidamari Sketch.
Fuujin Monogatari > Hidamari Sketch > Ichigo Mashimaro > Non Non Biyori > Aria
Personally, I'd love to give the title to K-ON because it resonated with me really well. But I can't, because it resonated with me TOO well, and I can barely handle an episode without crying and suicidal thoughts.
In terms of raw healing power, Non Non Biyori and Flying witch are both high up on the list.
My personal favorite will go to Hidamari Sketch purely because of how many episodes there are, though.
Haven't seen Aria yet, saving that for when things get even worse than they already are.
Read the Aria manga instead of watching the anime. One of the few anime where the voice acting actually kills it for me, Shacho's voice in particular.
How do you guys watch this shit?
It's fucking boring.
People mostly watch it for the cutesy comedy-elements that sometimes happen.
Why do you cone here Sup Forums?
Shit's relaxing. It absolutely is not for everybody, it's targetting a certain audience.
...
But those certain moments don't happen very often from how much I've watched, it felt like a boring slog with one or two sprinkles of okay comedy.
>cone
I dunno man, why did you make that typo?
But what audience? I can't wrap my head around it. Kids? Teens? Adults?
>but what audience
Specifically? People coming back from work, I suppose.
That's what makes those cutesy comedy-elements that much more precious when they happen.
Watch these kinds of shows with the mindset that you just want to be relaxed.
>Oh, this looks kinda cute
>Oh, this scene was kinda funny
>Heh, this made me chuckle
>Awww, that's cute
>Well, that was good
And that's it.
Sometimes, you don't really need to overthink things. And then after your mood's lifted, you can then watch some porn, or a cool action flick, or funpost on Sup Forums, or go drink a beer with your working buddies, or pump yourself up and then kick a tree.
no one lives in the stick like nnb in civilized countries
Do not watch the Non Nons to prepare yourself for porn
>But what audience?
People who never had their own kids and want to enjoy watching them be cute and grow up
There's nothing you can do to stop me.
...
That would be Yuyushiki.
They will never get to Okinawa.
Little girls shouldn't be so violent.
>mfw armageddon
Why is renchon beating up vigne?
Watch one with a slightly more prominent overarching narrative, perhaps? Like Barakamon or something. Atleast what the anime covers anyway, the manga turns into your more standard iyashikei later on (and is all the better for it in my opinion but whatever)
Renchon must defeat the evil devil, just like Wanpanchi-man defeats the bad guys.
Fight, for everlasting justice! And bring peace to this weary world.

It's Yotsubato if ever Silver Link picks it up

There is no perfect SoL anime, and NNB isn't even the best SoL anime.
Slice of life isn't a genre, it's a narrative technique.
I want to gain Komari's trust and then goad her into having sex to prove how mature she is
Yes, but due to the nature of the genre, the better it is, the more people will say it isn't.
>Haven't seen Aria yet, saving that for when things get even worse than they already are.
There's so much Aria and it goes great over a long span of time. Watch one or two episodes here or there. No need to rush.
Did OP ever said it was a genre? What matters it's that it's a way to discriminate a specific subset of anime.
>My personal favorite will go to Hidamari Sketch purely because of how many episodes there are, though.
My main issue with Hidamari is that SHAFT tried to make it a gag comedy like SZS and didn't pace it properly. So you don't get those long comfy contemplative moments.
It's a shame because in recent memory SHAFT proved they're capable of doing healing well with Koufuku Graffiti.
Why is it the every time someone mentions a specific type of anime people will immediately assume it's implied to be a genre. If he had talked about "the perfect short anime" would you also assume he implied "short" is a genre?
Genres aren't a thing, they're marketing techniques. We and almost everyone else use them as free-form conversational shorthand.
The first episode was beautiful but the show got boring after like 8 episodes
...
It's up there. There are some I regard even higher but they edge towards comedies more strongly than NNB. NNB might well be the best mostly "pure" SoL anime.
Really? I respect your opinion but NNB felt relatively joke-heavy to me for a healing show
if there's ever a Season 3, we're all going to be so hype for episodes 4 and 10
Is the manga translation caught up to the show?
It was pre-K-On! People still thought you needed some kind of hook other than "cute girls doing cute things" to sell anime.
>adult who doesn't want to admit how much they like a kid who worships the ground they walk on
Literally the best thing ever
If you believe 2ch's gachiota, the best SoL is Danchi Tomoo. Too bad subs never
He said "slice of life anime" as if that were a valid categorization for some quantifiable set of anime. It's not.
"Slice of life" is not a specific type of anime. The vast majority of anime incorporate elements of slice of life. I could make a strong case for Cowboy Bebop being the best "slice of life" anime, rendering it valueless as some sort of classification. Slice of life elements exist in almost all contemporary fiction. OP probably should have used "iyashikei."
This is definitely the most valid argument of the three, but it's not super impactful. I would counter, what does OP mean when he says "slice of life anime?" Does he mean a distinct lack of drama, with a focus on feel-good stories and light tension resulting in ultimate catharsis? Because that's much more accurately described as iyashikei. Does he mean a show with people going about their daily lives and funny things happen in the interim with a focus on character-based humor? Because that's a light comedy. We already have effective terms for these categories, and the genre terms.
Aria is Iyashikei.
K-on is light comedy with a dash of iyashikei.
NNB is about a fifty-fifty split, iyashikei and light comedy.
If you don't know what people mean when they say "slice of life" then you're not going to impress anyone by explaining how retarded you are. I'll give you a hint, it's a premise not a genre. Compare it to something like fantasy or isekai or "cop drama."
Of course "slice of life" applies in a variety of genres, that's a trite observation. For example, Ergo Proxy had a "slice of life" episode which was the highlight of the entire series.
Slice of life shows don't have a plot.
You could technically end these kinds of series at any time, and nobody would notice anything otherwise.
>Slice of life shows don't have a plot.
Obviously wrong.
"Slice of life" isn't a premise, go figure out what it actually means.
Dude, your entire life has no plot. We can then make a series showing segments out of your life.
That's what slice of life is about.
>your entire life has no plot
What did they mean by this?
That you are not fighting the demon lord to save the world, or trying to stop a malevolent organization from disrupting the peaceful life of everyone else.
You're just a bloke living your very boring and unexciting life like all the random NPCs.
One of the unimportant people doing unimportant things like shitposting here on Sup Forums together with another unimportant person.
...
>He said "slice of life anime" as if that were a valid categorization for some quantifiable set of anime. It's not.
>the set of all anime x such that x uses the slice of life narrative technique
So like 90% of anime.
>people think NNB is boring
NNB or Barakamon
Stories about the countryside are so relaxing. Children are best characters.
The best iyashikei I've ever seen. I never thought anything could bet Aria.
...
maybe, I think it's more that she is feeling maternal
but what do I know
...
How does this make you feel?
When will silver link just fucking make more
Normal people dont want to marry their brothers.
Does she lack a strong father figure or something?
when they have more source material.
They live in the boonies so she probably doesn't see many guys around so as a kid she was probably reliant on her brother in that way
Kids do that all the time. I wanted to marry daddy when I was a kid.
you people are sick
They get over it, it's no big deal.
why does user want to marry his daddy?
What does she smell like?
It's the best I've ever watched and probably for life.
It just has everything going for it, I hate bringing it up over and over but that bike episode was one of the best emotional episodes I've ever laid eyes on.
everything just feels so cookie-cutter generic with this one, I didn't hate it but I hesitate to call it good let alone perfect
My wife Natsumi is so cute
I dropped NNB after the second episode.
Cheap candy.
I'm female. If you think that makes it less degenerate.
It's perfectly normal. when I was a smol kid I wanted to marry my mother.
The setting makes this show. So fucking comfy and also somewhat nostalgic.
Comfy, sentimental and great comedic timing. It has almost everything.
Why do people keep telling lies on an anonymous imageboard is beyond me
This thread doesn't have near enough Komari.
moshi moshi
why people still think there are no girls on Sup Forums after Yuri on Ice is beyond me
we're all girls here so you needn't have announced it
The candystore - renge dynamic is something I've never seen done better.
I love it
t. someone who obviously lives in the middle of a city
read Usagi Drop
I will, thanks!
How many volumes of the manga does the anime cover?
When I first watched NNB, i had only seen about 10 anime before hand and dropped it halfway through episode 3, then after watching about 300 more shows I came back to it and it is my favourite anime to date. So just let that say what it does about the people who shit on it for being boring
Now I've lost it
