the problem in America is a cultrural one. Easy to spot if you watch american TV - at any time of day or night you can find at least two programmes on the main channels that are crime dramas, in which someone is shot. mainstream shows have people being murdered of committing suicide by gun. It even gets joked about in light comedy. America has a gun culture, (like american prisons have a homosexual culture that is not founf in the UK adn France) - promoted by the media.
stop telling people it is normal to kill each other, that it is normal to have a gun in the house, that it is normal to murder your wife and kids then kill yourself, that it is normal to murder a dozen strangers in a mass shooting when you are pissed off, that it is normal to shoot yourself.
In France and the Uk (I have lived in France only a few years, I am from the UK) only farmers and hunters have guns. No one thinks it normal to have a handgun. I never feel unsafe when on the streets.
