I've been a fan for a long time of this generally excellent show, but since 2016 I've started to drift away, not seeking it out as I used to.
Then I hear this. It's actually pretty fair. It comes to the conclusion that some people are actually harmed economically by immigration.
It mentions that the immigration busted the chicken plant union. It fails to dive more deeply into the knock on effects for higher skilled workers - now instead of working for $48000/year in today's dollars ( as in the 70s) these workers make the expected shit money.
Though it fails to explore whether the immigrants holding down wages and making the chicken processing job harder to keep have kept down wages in the service sector where the black and white American workers from the factory have gone it doesn't just simply take the economist's line that jobs around the factory were created therefore the immigrants are good (simply because they grew the economy).
This is the failure of economists who focus on GDP. The character of growth or even maintenance is as or even more important the amount of growth.
Anyway, maybe there's a sea change in thought brewing even among the left.
This show won't be cutting edge knowledge for longtime lurkers here, but this TAL episode is going to redpill normies.
