Also a great read

...

...

I'll have to check that one out, or at least get the tldr on it before I put it on the list!

How do you fags read anyways? Traditionally or PDF?

>2k17
>read books
are you retarded or smth?

...

PDF.

hamlet's mill. Open your mind user.

Propaganda by Edward Bernays
The Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

As posted, The Prince, Leviathan, Brave New World, Animal Farm

...

I've tried it but can't do it, guess I'd rather spend the money

My bookcase looks fancy though now

I've heard people to go as far as reading with a VR device so they can stand and read

...

Have you tried reading with a tablet?

I also like Stirner for the sake of pleasure reading, he offers an interesting view

The ego is a sgoog tho :DD :D

No I haven't actually, my wife uses a Kindle and says it's much better

>Pic current read

>Guns, Germs and Steel

Interesting read, and gives you a geographical outlook on the world and some history and theories as to why things unfolded the way they did. (he has biases in the book that are uncommon but you can easily see them)

I always had leftist teachers recommend that book in high school so I guess I always was close minded about reading it. Guess that was thanks to my autistic libertarian days (not that I still don't hold some of those views anymore)

It's categorized as Intellectual History, right?

did 1/3 of these over the last years in my english studies. Prof was a leftist cuck of course and used Brave New World as an example of an Utopia
everyone just noded silently
Felt like I was in that fucking book

Some of my favourites
Classic Russian -antinihilism, traditionalism
Der Stille Don - Michail Scholochow
Demons, Death of Ivan Iljich, Cossacks, Idiot - Dostojevski/Tolstoj

Fear and Trembling, Entel/Eller -Kierkegaard (Christian theology, existentialism)

Anything by Jose Antonio Primo de Riviera
Hobbes and Moore (Utopia and Leviathan)
Preußentum und Sozialismus, Der untergang des Abendlandes - Spengler

Good read for insight none the less, a lot of once 'leftist' books are now being read in a traditional / right view, so I think we can break their monopoly on some of these old classics

Oddly enough I like the more Austrian / libertarian books for anti-socialism / free markets and Fascist literature for aesthetics and culture

Weird admixture a lot of us seem to be doing

Guns Germs and Steel is leftist propaganda.
Read Michael Hart's Understanding Human History instead.

How often do you guys read? For how long? How often do you re-read books? How many books/week or /month do you read?

Why not both? Good to know where the left is coming from so we don't become lap dogs for right thinkers that spout talking points

I'll look into that one though

He classifies it as a 'Human science' at the end and has some good reasoning as to why he does so. I believe when I bought the book it was in the science section (A science is the pursuit of knowledge, nothing is claimed to be 100% true in the book just arguments for why).

It is really a compelling book for why western civilisation dominated the world.

>I always had leftist teachers recommend that book in high school so I guess I always was close minded about reading it.
Always remember most *popular* books are not propaganda machines and they do not mould your thought the book is filtered through YOUR brain and you decide your own conclusion.

the books has also given me a great base lien to talk about the history of man kind. (cant say its great for picking up chicks though lol...)

Best book of all time.

Someone drop the DL link.

I try to read an hour a day, I work as a pipefitter so my hours and commutes are long depending on where I'm working. My wife is also preggo so it's hard to balance it all. Still trying to hit the gym too

Oddly enough I had way more time to read in the Army living alone, in between training and all

30 minutes a day means about 1 book a week, leaf.

2-3 per month, anything more than that rarely when its not some holidays season
I reread book quiet often tho

Makes sense, I'll add it to my ever growing queue haha

I order probably two new books a month and read them the next month after

These?

>Read Michael Hart's Understanding Human History instead.
I will look in to it, thank you.
The dogma of guns germs in steel is that all people are equal it is only geography that separates our differences and culture.

Michael Hart seems to take the approach that some people groups have developed higher IQ's then others, can't make an assessment on the book though as I have not read it.

Any of you goys have a home library / office?

I'm hoping to make my office into a rustic aesthetic library

>Pic exaggerated dream

Summa Theologica
Jerusalem Delivered
Virgil's Aeneid

Replace everything from Orwell with Zamyatin "We".

>I order probably two new books a month and read them the next month after
I wish I had that discipline, I waste too much time on video games

This looks good, I'll get it. Synopsis through ancap please?

I'm 24 man so I don't play vidya much anymore, but I wasted time when I was younger playing. Try to limit it to weekends or something?

This also looks good

>Alfred the Great
>no Anglo-Saxon Chronicles, what?

3-4 books a month

Henry Kissinger - Diplomacy
Henry Kissinger - New World Order
Zbigniew Brzeznski - Grand Chessboard
Zbigniew Brzeznski - Between Two Ages
Esward Prassad - The Dollar Trap
Esward Prassad - Rise of the Renminbi
Daniel Byman - Al Qaeda, the Islamic State, and the Global Jihadist Movement: What Everyone Needs to Know
Jimmy Carter - The Blood of Abraham

Rules for Radicals

I'd do that when I've worked enough to retire for the rest of my life, somewhere in the north in a cozy house

No Eddas or Sagas either lol, that's why we need threads to education the Whyite race

How do we know what history books are actually the most reliable? How do we cut through the propaganda and bullshit?

I've always wondered what makes people confidently state the motives of some ancient leader for attempting some political move. There could often be two different explanations that people debate over. It just seems so arbitrary to me.

Yeah that sounds about right

The house I just bought has an office that is big enough to make a decent home library

Just read the ones with the best reviews. What actually happened doesn't really matter, but what people think happened does.

the superior way of reading is to start with something interesting and expand from there, just trying to read a list of ''important books'' will make you want to kill yourself

Rules For Radicals, by Alinsky.

This is the playbook of current year, every year.

Hegel talks about this, history is objective and should be treated as such

Not always possible though being hoomanz

Any books which are helpful for self-improvement in a kind of stoic/fashy way?

>What actually happened doesn't really matter, but what people think happened does.
Yeah, yeah. UN this is utter bullshit, what happened does matter we just have to try and get the best source. >Just read the ones with the best reviews

well good luck with that user, you are ahead of me,fullfill that dream

Not really because if the rest of the population disagrees with your view of history, then you're considered wrong.

Sounds (((interesting))) desu

You'll get there man, join a trade union or get a engineering degree, play the game and make whyite babies

>No Eddas or Sagas either lol, that's why we need threads to education the Whyite race
I was referring to the statue of Alfred the great in the picture(pic related), but the book 'Anglo-Saxon Chronicle (Old English Books)
by King Alfred the Great' is not mentioned.

Tragedy and hope
Programmed to kill

So if people were told time and time again that someone wanted to take over the world and killed barley 6 million people, that's the history that matters?

/po/ needs to start playing that (((game)))

compelling evidence determines truth, so people will and should believe you in any good society.

Oh I gotcha, I agree it's foolish but I just meant that the Eddas and Sagas should also be in there

I'm no good at photoshop or else I'd make my own Sup Forumsack list

Most the political commentary and philosophy books are genuinely pointless in 2017. Books on self-sustainability, efficiency, and tradition are what matter to us. Reading the wealth of nations or something similar has a moot end in modern politics. You shouldn’t just read something to make you smarter, read it because you want that knowledge. I guarantee that there isn’t a single person on this board who has read all of those books.

That is the history that matters. You should know this because you're living it right now.

Sure, actual evidence, and not what Sup Forums considers evidence.

In response to my own post, this is a much more fitting list for current politics and Sup Forums in general. However it’s missing the Eddas which are absolutely defining of modern identitarianism. Sup Forums is no longer capitalism vs. communism it advocates tribalism and identitarianism

Yeah, knowing the history of Capitalism is totally useless in being an intellectual desu

A moment of silence for the tankies we slaughtered and booted from Sup Forums who were part of the Whyite race

Brothers they were
Killed they had to be

...

...

Not sure desu, but there are some great /SIG/ threads I've seen

Mein Kampf also talks about the importance of a physically strong nation

Start with push ups and sit ups throughout the day, 5 or 10 at a time for a number goal for the day, and go on walks. That is if you're going from 12 hours of vidya to moving

Amazing fucking list

>no Jung
Man and His Symbols

I don't really care about working out since I'm not fat, I just have serious problems with motivation, self-worth, depression, anxiety etc.

Oh I forgot
Sup Forums - politically intellectual

Not familiar with Jung

...

Stop smoking weed, stop vidya

Go for a walk in the forest bro, join a hiking club or a leisure sport team like softball

>Reject paramount books in intellectual history / development
>Mastermind

K

>no Ride the Tiger
brainlets

currently reading. very good. would recommand

>no jung
>i dont have enough krauts to tell me how to think

You dense cunt. Reread my post. I just fucking said that reading a political book for the sake of being smarter is fucking retarded, especially for discussion on this board. If you’re some political science piece of shit then by all means read the goddamn incoherent complaints of Adam Smiths mind. My post is explaining how politics has moved to fringe history and paganism to because of the modern return to idea of tribalism and being traditional. The arguments of Marx and Capitalist kikes is a thing of the past here.

>King James Version
it's shit

>amazing
watch ancap get destroyed by one meme

...

>create a monopoly
that's not how monopoly works

Don't chimp out too hard, it goes well with your rejection of intellect

Change your flag to nigger nationalist pls

I'm not an ancap but nice strawman, faggot

>le Monopoly can’t exist without the state meme

Fuck off. You know goddamn well in a true free market price manipulation of basic commodities would be absurd and companies would purchase entire industries due to debt. Shit happened in India all throughout the Green Revolution.

Daniel Quinn

Jack London's dystopian vision for the future that we are currently living in.

It's almost like you've never read Austrian literature

I didn't know "We" was written in 1921, had a friend recommend it to me high-school. Tragic but great, very Russian in that regard.

>I’m intelligent because I read a book about what a guy wanted the economy to be 300 years ago

Not green boobs a ray-guns; this is more of a theoretical society/utopia.

One thing I would implement here on Earth is a system where representatives and senators are drafted like a jury duty system as opposed to seeking power for themselves.
