Sup Forums is the internet the worst thing ever invented for society or is it a net positive?
I mean, first there's porn. It's great and all but has also led to teens becoming hypersexualized and doing crazier shit earlier than ever before, not to mention all you fucks becoming addicted to it and unable to talk to or relate to girls in real life.
But more importantly, the internet has allowed fringe ideologies to gain a platform and become mainstream. All the bullshit feminism and "muh lgbt rights" used to stay on the fringe of society where they belonged, but the internet allowed them to reach massive numbers of people. Society has changed more in the past 20 years than, I think, any 20 year period before, and it's not for the better. The world is fucking crazy now.
Wouldn't the world become a better place again if we just unplugged the internet?
That girl is cute, shame that she thinks clothes are repressive instead of a logical barrier between your skin and the environment which weathers and destroys it.
Dylan Barnes
BLM wouldn't be a thing. Transgenderism wouldn't be a thing. Political correctness wouldn't be anywhere near where it is now. Socialists would still be viewed as fucking morons.
Literally everything wrong with the world today can be traced back to the internet.
Jaxon Thomas
Cute lol? All those women are ugly inside and out
Charles Sullivan
Before the internet people just got their news from reputable sources. Everyone knew the tabloids were bullshit. Now, you have hyperbiased websites masquerading as legitimate news sources and the masses are too stupid to recognize the difference.
Occupy Democrats has over 7 fucking MILLION followers on Facebook. Those followers think what's posted is legitimate news.

I mean, Wikipedia is viewed by the majority of people as a decent place to get information, but the entry for 'Woman' says that not all women were born women.
>With regard to gender, a woman may also be a person whose sex assignment does not align with their gender identity,[1] or those who have sexual characteristics that do not fit typical notions of male or female (intersex).
This is in the first fucking paragraph.
Carter Rodriguez
How do we stop this shit?

>is the internet the worst thing ever invented for society No, the worst cancer is smartphones and social media.
>Society has changed more in the past 20 years than, I think, any 20 year period before You couldn't be more wrong. Still the same globalized mess. For real change look at 1933-1950 and 1963-1974. Those were the defining periods of the late 20th/early 21st century.
Nathan Davis
>and 1963-1974 What happened then besides dirty hippies?
Austin Gray
No because the Jew run globalist media would have complete control
Thanks to the Internet the people are finding out they're being fucked and they're not happy. We wouldn't see the rise of so called "fringe ideologies" if our leadership wasn't working against the people's interest Remember what's fringe ideology today may become the mainstream tomorrow especially in times like these when more and more people want the current establishment replaced
David Garcia
Political correctness socialism trannys etc were all being pushed in colleges and slowly through the media LONG before the Internet was widespread
Blake Martinez
>Society has changed more in the past 20 years than, I think, any 20 year period before Not really, the world changed a lot more between the mid and late 1800s than it did in the early 2000s. The 1850s were the most prolific years in terms of invention, innovation and massive societal changes from an agrarian society to an industrial one. Meanwhile we still ride cars, have planes and telephones, someone from the early 1900s could adapt fairly easily to the modern world.
Kevin James
Everything.
>Europe >Decolonization >Start of mass migration >European "Integration" >May-1968 protests
>USA >Kennedy assassinated >LBJ says no more quotas for immigrants >Vietnam War (defeat) >Sexual liberation >Watergate scandal
The overall atmosphere contributed to a breakdown of social norms, lack of trust in the politicians and the media, economic downturn in the 70s, etc...All of this combined with the post-war years of prosperity and consumption led to what we have today (You may also add the mid 90s globalization).
Colton Collins
Lol no. The only reputable news source was the local newspaper when it reported on local news because there was nothing important enough to lie about
We aren't talking about the same things user. EVERY era was degenerate in its own way. But back then degeneracy was on a fringe, it wasn't pushed on families and random people andor children. These people were freaks, those who sought degeneracy went to show late into the night and that's it, that's the whole concept of the red quarter neighborhoods. NO ONE can claim one era was free of degeneracy, but degeneracy can be reduced to small levels.
Jacob Bell
hes right about Weimar though. Wasn't worldwide like now but it happened and all without the Internet
Tyler Cooper
Degeneracy always occurred, Internet or not. But today you can access it much more widely than even during the wildest days of Weimar
Owen Morgan
You have low standards my guy or maybe you just find different qualities attractive.

It what was more of an honourable thing to do. Not just a way to get famous. It wasn't showy, or read by actors in leather dresses who were hired for having the whitest teeth. And you needed to work hard to be heard or have an opinion. Now, people you would never talk to/trust/believe/ give a second thought to, have a voice. Also, now people in other places are flooding into nice places and globalization, because you can get a phone for 20$

You give a reasonable educated/moral/self-controlled group of people the powers of the internet, you get an unstoppable good force.
You give an uneducated, vicious, deluded group of selfish mouthbreathers access to the internet and you get modern society.
It's a great communication tool man, the bad comes from the lack of good communicators
