Let's face it, we are heading into a Cyberpunk future. Gene and Cyber modifications can become cheap and commonplace in a free market. With our constitution, you have the legal right to buy weapons and also modify your body in any way you want.
Think about this picture; it's not so far-fetched anymore. Think about arms that could crush steel, and lift objects in the tons. Think about how much destruction one could achieve. Imagine if you could buy an augmented weapon, undetectable until use, in your body; that could kill or maim thousands of individuals. Hundreds of thousands maybe; take out whole infrastructures. Shut down hospitals.
Don't even get me started on Gene manipulation; we could seriously have superheroes within 30 years!
At what point would that have to be regulated? Should it be regulated? Would this have to be waved like now? How decked out would our police have to be? Would all police have to be robots? Do we trust policing robots? What if a rocket arm costs the same as an AR-15?
why even bother thinking about future problems when we have plenty of them in our time
Leo Jones
>hack police robots to kill nuggas
Jace Jenkins
>he thinks lifting is just your arms
user...
I think this will be heavily regulated. It'll depend largely, however, on the world-wide political picture. If there's a bunch of lefties no cybernetic shit for anyone. Forget it.
Logan Bell
>arm can lift a ton >rest of the body can´t
Jose Bell
SHALL
Christian Lewis
That won't stop the future user.
You know what I mean, smug anime girl.
But I want to know if we SHOULD regulate these weapons?
Ayden Barnes
We already have cryptocurrencies, that's a big step in, next is making stem something more than just a place where you get a decent job and you get an alright payement
Levi Johnson
More likely have cybernetics to upload your thoughts to the internet 24/7 so everyone can see what you think and like, and thus exploit it to bombard you with ads and products.
What's the problem user? You don't have anything to hide right? (((We))) can see it anyways user.
Tyler Russell
This is why you should start learning programming and earn as much cash as you can.
Parker Anderson
Question for you.
At what point would you give up your freedoms and anonymity for technological convenience and innovation?
Would you take a chip that made you think 200% faster? A body that is stronger but monitored by the government as a weapon?
Or grab a degree in genetics.
Sebastian Sanders
>BAN ASSAULT CYBERNETICS
Grayson Diaz
literally escapism
Hunter Sanchez
>Or grab a degree in genetics. still need IT knowledge
Carson Reyes
It's actually not.
A lot of our problems will be future problems; made worse.
Jayden Parker
Alrighty, a thread about me. AMA.
Jason Peterson
foreign objects up your ass do not count as augmentation
Matthew Taylor
>have the right to modify your body any way you want >get sent to jail for 90 days over a joint
William Jackson
holy shit kek
Charles Martin
There are limits to how much your arms can lift. Even if you have robo-arms, your shoulders still need to keep your arms in place. Your back is needed to keep your shoulders in place, etc. The only way you'd be able to lift a ton is if your entire body was altered (like Jenson's was).
Gabriel Scott
No by myoware based control of hydripneumatic armatures do.
Here's a ruddle to tickle your bum. Why is the force trainer ekg the last consumer item with bmi? Where did the trainable helms for computers go?
Parker Sullivan
never skip leg upgrades, everyone always skips leg upgrades
James Cooper
we are already living in soft cyberpunk >corporations more powerful than govts check >cyberspace check >increasing number of stuff you do online check >detorioration of nations check >cyber warfare check we only lack neon lights aesthetics, superdrugs and robots
Michael Cook
Your dodging the question so hard.
>Neon Light Aesthetics What is Chillwave youtube.com/watch?v=SolEjKrcg4E >Superdrugs You could say steroids, but I'm sure they will get stronger, or there already are strong as fuck steroids and they aren't out on the market yet. >robots Pic related. We got robots that cook better then women.
Michael Russell

Isaac Ward
I want a giant laser beam in my torso like KOS-MOS
John Perry
>wut do we do turn wrist 360 degrees and walk away
Elijah Lee
I'm dying.
Elijah Lopez
can you program those hands to jerk me off gently ?
Alexander Perez
It will be regulated for the common man to just a few innocuous augments allowed. Police will get at least a section of augmented individuals a la GITS to tacle the cyborgs born from the black market and less regulated nations. The military probably will go balls deep into it, if not already. Big companies in the market will start to compete frantically and lobby to widen the market for the common man, if not already in control the states they operate into. Then it's banhammer on civilian augs. Maybe we'll get some competitions, olympics-like, where companies show off the latest guinea pig with uselessly specialized limbs and brain-to-limb training.
cut the bullshit. Proofs or GTFO, Shinji
Jaxon Clark
With no regulations, they can choke you at the same time.
Samuel Flores
We are both murican, we can't make that joke

I'll be hanging around here and on /sci/, I have all the time I need, champ. In case the mods are fags, don't forget to paint at least a swastika on your "armatures" or their blueprints/sketches/whatever before you take pics. Maybe it will count as politics.
Jaxon Torres
If you believe in gun control, then you should believe in hate speech laws.
Sage, but cool concept.
Asher Richardson
>Tfw you'll be able to watch a live rendition of Gunnm's motorball in your lifetime

Righto, will get on it after the company holiday party fuck with the cutie receptionist.
>she's 230 lb, but is also an international horse competitor. Thighs that can make diamond!
Jonathan Collins
We live in a cyberpunk present.
Joseph Perez
nice ride although short, user. kudos.
Anyway. Which ideologies/religions/forms of state will be guaranteed to ban augs?
Wyatt Kelly
Christian most definitely.
Which is why I asked Sup Forums.
Justin Foster
Shit, peeps are already 3d printing DIY prosthetic arms. Private sector/Hobbyists are innovating in the field of cybernetics faster than medical engineers are at this point. Within a decade or two, the quality will be good enough that people will lop off their arms and legs to replace meat limbs. Also, because of this, they will be difficult to regulate (just like 3d printed / home milled firearms)
Jack Miller
No one with a brain cares about or wants hate speech laws.
Brody Collins
Aside the obvious "the body is a temple" stuff I'd be curious to see some other stances like the islamic one, the kikes etcetera.
Cooper Brooks
>when you have to pay a subscription to use your limbs
openbionics.com/ Openbionics the outfit that designed the STL files to make the 3d printable Jensen arm (Deus Ex)
Zachary Hernandez
Surprisingly, american christianity before arabic Islam o er sanctity of the body God gave you. Have already run imto this.
Easton Thomas
With Islam; body augmentation as an act of war would be totally within their religion.
We just had a terrorist attack; imagine a terror attack with a homemade bomb implanted in his arm or some shit.
Imagine oil backed terror cyborg death-walker jihadists.
This is what Alex Jones should be reeing about.
Lincoln Myers
there will probably also be a killswitch in those augs, in the form of explosive or poison. Depends if the limb is classified military stuff or not
David Sullivan
>This is what Alex Jones should be reeing about. isn't he?
>Have already run imto this. greentext
Jayden Cook
Niggers and muslims would be too poor to buy them so we are fine
Justin Reed
It can.
Matthew Powell
Already happened, the current head of ksa state sec got hit by one. Its where the Dark Knihht got the idea.
Jack Gray
kek. Try to market some buttplug blade, frenchie. I'd love to see what kind of people buys that.
Jose Martinez
Any /sci/ fags that can comment on the current state of limb replacement/neural implants? Who here David Sarif?
Oliver Evans
>be in college, 5th year cause fuck yeah 3 degrees >discussin job prospects, looking at Cyberdyne >what if you were the suit and not wearing it .scm >get told that if you lose limbs you wont have them in Heaven >Tukahteman approves >ask when I'm getting back the tip of muh dick >get told its an exception for Gods command >bring up Kelloggs thing >goes pretty well but get viewed as a not quite heretic forever
Its not much, its a fairly STEM heavy place, plus I'm an ad for them. Well for the disabilitys succes center. But hey, I have a 62k plus bennies job amd a gf.

It HAS to either be the wild west of extremely restricted If we fall for the same memery that Elon Musk groupies fall for only because we want to make Electric sheep real fast then companies will spear-head progress, dominate the market and get the law on their side, then: >proprietary software to be installed in brains >Depending on companies to supply our very organs >Kill switches >This Remember that cyberpunk universes are usiually distopias, no matter how A E S T H ET I C they are, they are shit places to live and we should not strive for them It is already dangerous enough for someone who does not know whit about computers to use one, now imagine normies getting augmentations without knowing that those cyanide cartridges in his groovy Shekelsten Industries™ Limb set™ are for I personally much preffer to aim to become an Ubermensch, the highest of God's creation at the cost of dedication and discipline, and not something that I perceive as a pitty attempt to upgrade ourselves with no sacrifice aside from our own humanity That's stupid, If he is an android then he could just input the data directly on a port instead of using an input device. Almost as stupid when you see androids getting orders from other androids with speech
Its nit a simplex connection there its full duplex. Ergo you can have drive by malware just as you do today in public phone chargers.
Ryan Sanchez
>It HAS to either be the wild west of extremely restricted why not both. All it takes is a rogue off-world colony to start unregulated experimentation. Either for bioforming instead of terraforming, or in the hope to obtain military advantage.
Kayden Collins
>What is the black market
Giga-Nigga football will be fucking killer.
Bentley Sanchez
if you're talking about bio augmentations/drugs/superroids >life expectation may drop by 20 years and guaranteed explosive cancer I'm fine with that
Colton Anderson
>life expectation may drop by 20 years and guaranteed explosive cancer >explosive cancer
super kek With gene modding you could make those dudes immortal, and regenerate everything.
Ian Foster
>cancer, in layman terms, is a bunch of out of control immortal cells >just turn the whole nigger into a fuckhuge metastasis
Chase Morales
>At what point would that have to be regulated? SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED
Jackson Perez
>why not both. Because that would be illegal. There's nothing romantic about being an out-law >Either for bioforming instead of terraforming Eh, I would say that it is better to make is half and half, there is a reason that there is no life there Cancer can't be attacked with just genemod, it requires different treatments depending on the type and stage, it would be better to prevent cancer instead of trying to fix it. Think of this: >Ball-companies start selling patches, increasing in complexity to out-perform the other companies >Ball-patching becomes a multi-millon industries >Someone decides to just stop kicking his ball to spiky bushes >Get's called old school >Metastsis niggers I think that I just found who will mine those asteroids
Easton Kelly
Bu but muuhhhh augments
Ethan Cook
>not wanting to be a mutant gangster robbing bitcoin farms
Owen Jenkins
Look up myostatin inhibition. This will be the next big thing, guranteed. Superior to steroids in every way. This alone can make you look like one of those fucking meatcows that are bred to be twice as muscular with low bodyfat. You get free muscle and strength, literally, with little to no side effects to your health. Combine this with other genetic modifications as well, and you get even more superhuman.
Nicholas Lewis
What happens when the CIA forces the cybernetics companies to put in a backdoor to the implants so they can remotely shut them off?
Nicholas Flores
I don't want to be a nigger, and why would I want to steal fake money? As I said, there is nothing romantic in crime, if you don't think that then look at ISIS and the women they convince to join, or that white girl that turned into a sex-slave for his mexican "daddy", everyone regrets it immediately
Jaxson Young
>myostatin inhibition So its an inhibitor. So its a pill? Why would your body have a strength INHIBITOR? You eat the pill and all of a sudden your muscles grow?
You don't have to exercise? That is fucking crazy.
Lucas Roberts
Then be proud to be an American. If it was the BATFECGMLP Then we would have an issue. Only one of which is that we choked on our tongues.
Benjamin Gutierrez
It might happen but not in your lifetime!
Caleb Reyes
Did you fucking look it up? Myostatin is a protein that regulates muscle growth in all mammals. More myostatin = less muscle. Less myostation = more muscle. As long as the animal has food, and in the modern world we have plenty, its literally free muscle and strength, even if you dont work out at all. The effects are quite extreme. Its also not just limited to being pills. At first it will probably be pills or injections that are temporary, which is still good, but eventually they will be able to modify your genes directly to inhibit myostation production. Look up myostation cows, thats exactly what it is, except theyve achieved that through selective breeding.
Ian Nguyen
>Eh, I would say that it is better to make is half and half, there is a reason that there is no life there shouldn't be hard to adapt at least microorganisms to Mars. >engineer microbe/superfungi that feeds on perchlorates or minerals and shits out a useful athmosphere for the next stage, with more engineered flora (resistant to radiation) >if something fucks up, engineer humans to survive in the shit athmosphere and rad bombardment That's one way to terraform Mars.
Parker Thompson
I wouldn't be so sure. The internet is one giant cyberpunk experiment that went unregulated.
Yeah, I looked it up. There are tons of scam supplements though. Makes me want to watch Gattaca.
Aaron Jackson
...
Jacob Campbell
>Go to America >Become Gun
Jason Martin
Except for when your heart muscles because deformed and incapable of actually functioning properly due to the square cube law. Our muscle growth gets regulated by myostatin for more than just conserving energy.
Charles Perry
Or a cock
Jaxon Flores
Yeah not now, the supplements are all scams right now. But major pharma companies are developing myostatin inhibitors for the purposes of treating muscle dystrophy diseases. So its not some fringe tactic thats barely funded, there is real research going on and its not like we dont know that it works, the result is guaranteed, the trick is just making it possible to modify humans cheaply and safely, once that happens it goes to market, im sure of it. Just like steroids were originally not marketable, but eventually made it there. This will be the same thing.
Robert Watson
Microorganism; yes, but more complex life needs more than simple molecules Mars: >Add water (the sand there is sharp because there is not water to erode it) >Water makes clouds, lighting and thus Ozone >Add bacteria to create a breathable atmosphere, it does not have to be the same as ours, but similar enough just so it is easer to work with our current laws >Add bacteria to produce ever more complex organic molecules >Do this until there is an ecosystem that could sustain more complex life Then you fill the faps with human modification, most preferable genetic because I do not want to die for being exposed to the planet I was born
Ethan Hill
what
Easton Wood
im going to have a .44 magnum installed where my dick used to be.
Jeremiah Lee
Doing more reading I found out that this is actually a rare mutation. A lot of those mutants have crazy muscle cramps daily.
Oliver Cook
I feel we're headed to a cyberpunk future guns will be fucking everywhere
Lucas Smith
Wrong. I can tell you didnt look it up, because its well established by now that myostatin has no effect on heart muscle or any other organs. It is a protein the sole purpose of which is to regulate skeletal muscle growth. The only reason these genes are not widespread is because the cost of having a lot of muscle is high, in terms of calories. Thats the only issue. Our ancestors could not afford these mutations on average because they would have starved to death. Its free muscle as long as you have a modern industrialized society where a person can easily consume 2,500-3000 calories daily, which isnt a lot actually for a grown ass man but would have been hard to achieve for a caveman on a regular basis. There are people today who are naturally born with single or double myostatin inhibition, this is a rare but naturally occuring mutation. It just wasnt selected for by evolution for the aforementioned reasons.
Nicholas Hughes
Yeah well that because they dont supplement properly, a lot of jacked guys today have muscle issues too, its not really an argument against this technology, when steroids do the same thing and more in terms of side effect.
Jayden White
fair enough >I do not want to die for being exposed to the planet I was born >implying Martians would be allowed or even want to go back I can fathom nationalism arising on Mars, and not only because of the good old Nazi UFO legends.
