Fuck off with your meme show already. Who gives a fucking shit.
It will be a eva x shin godzilla crossover.
people over the age of twenty with good taste.
no one with good taste likes the rebuilds try again
I'm okay with this
I unironically want this to be true.

Anno doesn't lie. He just omits or twists the truth when he needs to, like Kyubey.
It's actually called 3.0+1.0.
It will be 3.0 that will loop back to the beginning of 1.0.
Remember when Kaworu said "just repeat it until it sounds nice" when teaching Shinji the piano?
what the hell is this
This.
3.0 was the worst thing I've ever seen.
remember when anyone besides filthy kaworufags actually cared? I don't.
I'd much rather know why Shinji and Misato lost their memory of End of Evangelion and what happened to Asuka Langley Soryu after the beach.

They've wasted no opportunity to milk it for all it's worth

WHERE IS EVA 4.0
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
In 2012 Sup Forums thought 3.33 was shit. What do you think now?
it's shit
It's shit.
It's shit.
It's shit.
It's pretty shitty user.
I actually kind of like it.
5/10
Still better than the majority of anime airing
Is Shin Godzilla good?
i just want Rei to smile together with Shinji
while they hold hands
It felt like an elongated episode of Evangelion so if you like that then its pretty good. One of my personal favorites though I love how absurd Godzilla vs Hedorah is.
Yes.
I just want closure.
For Shinji.
With best girl.
He suffered enough...
I'm not certain how they're going to fit Mana into this without colliding multiple universes in an industry wide fun fest.
I didn't think it was that shit but I also have a thing for eyepatches.
Soryu isn't in Rebuild though.
You mean best boy?
I want a fucking closure to this shitfest already, be it Anno's wet faggot dream with two teen twinks fucking each other in the ass or an actual closure for empathic fans. I want Anno to end it all and live forever
What if we're not gay?
I imagine I would start hyperventilating in this situation with my boner threatening to break the restrains
Why the fuck are there 2 asuka's now? Never seen the rebuilds, love the original series and EOE .
Don't really wanna watch them though and who the fuck is this glasses girl
No man can break free from Asuka's gaze
Its kind of confusing, in Rebuild she has a new last name, new personality and background. Asuka Langley Shikinami doesn't have any mental issues like Soryu did.
>glasses girl
That's Mari Makinami, a fan service character who's only note is having big tits.
Technically. There's only one Asuka in Rebuild, but it's a character crafted specifically to cater to Asuka fans.
So it's going to be different.
The line reads as leave forever, user.
I know this Asuka doesn't cater to me at all, as an Asukafag. She's a shell of her former self, only Asuka only in looks and first name.
Alternate timelines you fuck, why do you think we have all the versions of Death, Rebirth and 25', 26', and the original 25 and 26. 1.0 and 2.0 are alternate versions of 1-24, 3.0 stands alone, and One More Final: I need you also only has one distinct version. However, you can look at 3.0 as an alternate, continued version of One More Final, or simply a continuation.
Basically, Anno does whatever the fuck he wants, trying to rationalize it is a waste of time.
>Why is Adam white in the OP but when Misato sees him in the actual show he's orange
Who the fuck knows.
...
>all these Rebuild is a sequel theories
I wanna end myself
You'd be far angrier if she didnt.
By all means, offer an alternate explanation.
So is it much less confusing just to call Rebuild just an AU?
This is exactly what Toriyama did with DBS.
It most likely is an alternative version. Rebuild being a sequel to NGE would be so dumb.
It's bullshit. Pure and simple.
It's my favourite of the rebuilds.
Pretty much what everyone else said; the "new" Asuka is just Asuka that didn't get mentally ruined by her mom.
So whose hand are those?
If she caters to us, why doesn't she more than 3 minutes of screen time? Why did they remove the hot and cold relationship with Shinji?
She really better get WAY more screentime and talk with Shinji more in the next one. Right now she's just a background character.
I don't know, I found it on danbooru.
It could be me
>meme show
holy fucking buzzwords
in terms of continuing the story it was shitty but it was entertaining at least
>So is it much less confusing just to call Rebuild just an AU
Yes, but probably technically wrong based on many of the things Kaworu says.
You can think of it as repetition, or as alternate timelines, honestly the distinction at that point is fairly meaningless. All we really know is that time in Eva can be manipulated, as is evidenced by the shot of Rei in the first episode, and in One More Final, both of those things happened simultaneously from "Rei's" point of view, but were weeks apart from Shinji's. Kaworu also has knowledge of each iteration of Eva and references them, mostly in the Rebuilds.
Evidence that there is some sort of continuity between the timelines, i.e. some sort of soft-reset instead of them being completely distinct, is, as I mentioned before, Kaworu, the ocean, the arterial spray on the moon, the shot of 01 in space, and some other minor shit, I'm sure there is an infographic somewhere.
But, as I said, the distinction is largely meaningless, once you fuck with time like that it really doesn't matter where things "are" because the straight line concept no longer applies.
Because Asuka fans don't care about the character. It is more value to an Asuka fan to see Rei ruined and Kaworu shoved off gently.
The relationship between Shinji and Asuka have actually been reinforced a lot due to 3.33 and Rebuild. In fact, it is ridiculously forced at this point in Rebuild - Asuka has zero reason to care for Shinji, even 14 years later, and still she does. Anno is fighting tooth and nail to force a shipper pairing, going as far as to get rid of Rei and rewrite her into a Yui clone, and blowing up Kaworu.
Asuka doesn't have to be more than a background character for the fans, all she need to be is
- shippable
- portrayed as better than the rest
- safe from the plot
then the fanboys will do the rest - and they did.
Anno and his team of writers are writing new Eva with one goal in mind only, making Asuka more popular and well liked than the rest. They'll get rich no matter what else they do.
If Anno has any integrity, he'll have to ruin Asuka as much as he has ruined Rei over the past few years. Which won't happen, because Anno is an otaku who's embraced fanservice and self-gratification. Most likely the fourth will have an overabundance of pandering for you, just like the rest had.
So are you saying that rebuilds were, by design, planned to be a complete time-lost shitshow that doesn't even make sense anymore? Bravo, Anno.
>In 2012
What the heck? How?
That's not true, 2.22 is really good.
It's animation. They aren't actual people. They aren't "different versions" of the same character as much as every single frame of Asuka is a different character.
I enjoyed the end of 2.22, mostly because the rest of it, and 1.11 were total shit.
>Let's ruin the story AND the animation in one go
Fucking Anno
The end of 2.22 made it look like the series was going somewhere new, and at least interesting. 3.33 confirmed it was going somewhere new, but dashed any hopes of it being interesting, or even bearable.
How has Asuka and Shinji's relationship been "reinforced" in 3.33? Shinji no longer has the hots for Asuka anymore like in EoE and she is only in it for 5 minutes doing soldier stuff. Ordered to destroy Unit 01 if need be.
Infact, their fight in the underground of NERV isn't exactly what I'd call attraction. Its more like a Goku vs Vegeta type of character relationship.
Heck Asuka is pretty much a red headed Vegeta at this point.
Any complaint one could possibly have about the characters being different in the Rebuilds simply comes down to the fact that it's a series of films versus 26 episodes.
More or less. It had potential to be more by virtue of having the same characters and development early on, but with the third movie the shallowness behind it all reared it's ugly head in full.
I agree that 3.33 is pretty much unwatchable (aside from Asuka's character design).
But 1.11 was decent as far as a retelling of the beginning of Neon. And 2.22 holds it's own as a fairly well done stand along movie IMO. This scene was powerful.
From a certain point of view... yes.
The only thing Shinji and Asuka ever had was mutual understanding, which was the whole point of EoE.
>Everyone else Shinji cares about is dead.
>Save me Asuka
>No
>cue Komm Susser Tod
>Esoteric bullshit
>beach scene
>Shinji chokes her because she rejected him
>She touches his face because she now accepts him
>Shinji breaks down because he found the thing he was looking for (two people understanding each other) and doesn't like it
>Asuka understands all of this and also doesn't like it
>kimochii warui
>hard cut to black
It was honestly the perfect end to the series.
We have no idea what the intention of the Rebuilds is, because they aren't done yet. If the fourth one comes out and doesn't add anything new to the time loop theory, it'll stay nothing more than that: a theory. Which isn't to say it's good or bad or worth talking about or not, we just don't know. As it stands, judging it on those merits, a plotline we've only seen part of, would be premature.
>How has Asuka and Shinji's relationship been "reinforced" in 3.33?
Because despite the fact that they don't even know each other, Rebuild are still playing them up. So even if Asuka realistically would have nothing to do with Shinji, and not a damn to give, she's still hooked onto him, and the series put them together favorably in an otaku-friendly manner.
The NERV underground? Just the good ol' tsun in preparation for the tsun at the end.
See See how the only thing he can bear is Asuka's character design? Basically everything about Asuka is written to be attractive.
Tsubasa wo Kudasai was better honestly
still shit user
What was with the two Lances of Longinus in Lilith in 3.0?

>We have no idea what the intention of the Rebuilds is, because they aren't done yet.
They don't have to be done, because we know what their intentions are at this point. Any future version of Rebuild can't change the effect it has had. Anno makes these movies with the intention to cause a certain effect, so he design the "cause" - in other words, Rebuild.
The facts are that the "looping", the "sequel theory" are simply elements intended to be void and empty in order for people to speculate and fantasize. The only thing Rebuild has concretely achieved is the glorification of Asuka and Kaworu along with the character assassination of Rei Ayanami.
>a plotline we've only seen part of, would be premature.
Don't ever say this again. It makes you look borderline retarded - it's been ten years now. Four years since the last Rebuild. Premature? When the story is 75% complete? No, there's nothing the remaining 25% can change to actually do away with the above.
If you can't feel that the intention of Rebuild was to rob Rei as a character all the dignity and good image it had, then you're emotionless.
Yes. I'm agreeing that 3.33 sucks. It's a waste.
Also good.
In any case, we can only hope that 4 comes out someday and redeems this whole mess. But at the very least let's just finally put a bow on it and be done with it.
We do not know what their intentions are outside of the most vague terms, and anything else is guesswork, delusion or wishful thinking.
Which one are you?
I don't care what Anno does as long as he makes those two faggots kiss already, it's not like he has kids'-TV-broadcaster censure to worry about anymore
just
make
it
happen
>falling for Eva meme
>What was with the two Lances of Longinus in Lilith in 3.0?
We don't know. No one knows, probably not even Anno. Just like with the Rebuild before, he writes things not knowing / caring what it means. The extra "Lance" was added to give Asuka an iconic weapon like Rei.
New Asuka is essentially Anno trying to make Asuka as important and striking as Rei was in the original, ironically by projecting Rei's charms onto Asuka.
"It will be a work that can be enjoyed even if you have not seen the TV series. I want old hard-core fans and even fans who just know Eva from pachinko to view it as a single (i.e. stand-alone) movie. We welcome first-time viewers, so the contents will be simpler, but we don’t intend to make something on a level that can be understood just by spacing out and watching it.
"When you say 'Eva' there are probably people who are reminded
of a worldview steeped in mystery, but this time it looks like those
types of elements will be kept to a minimum.
"This is because techniques such as intentionally scattering difficult to understand phrases to create uncertainty are 12 years old. The essence of this project is to foil all expectations that everyone has towards Eva."
>those faces
>those limp dick lances
WHY
it's shit
I want a live-action sequence, Anno's cinematography abilities have greatly improved.
We can determine their intentions with pin-point accuracy based on thorough analysis of their personalities, the trend of Evangelion's changes from Gainax->Khara, and the subject matter of Rebuild itself.
Anno and his writers (mostly Tsurumaki) are big fans of Asuka and to some degree, Kaworu. The trend of Evangelion has moved towards emphasizing these characters positively, as well as reinforcing the positive desires the fans have for these characters. The natural enemy of these characters is Rei, who is (or was?) more popular, and that's why you have Anno commenting negatively on Rei and people who like the character. Very fittingly, the franchise has changed Rei's character to a weaker, less intelligent and overall less important and progressive character. Not once in the 20 years has Rei surpassed the original in power or stature, an is at this point the punching bag of the franchise narratively speaking.
Denying this is essentially resigning in understanding the franchise at all. What else do you have?
Then why is it called a Reibuild?
Based on the final title, they need each other to truly heal their wounds in some way.
>she's still hooked onto him, and the series put them together favorably in an otaku-friendly manner.
How so? There is that one moment in the beginning where she accidently calls out Shinji name while she is in trouble and her eyes twinkle, but that is one instance and rather vague. She also doesn't interact with him at all.
>The essence of this project is to foil all expectations that everyone has towards Eva.
Then it has clearly failed. It has succeded in fulfilling the expectations of otaku, in particular Asuka and Kaworu otaku who desired and expected to be catered to.
