I was tempted into watching Love Live for the very same reason, loving the look of these Alter figures but unable to buy them without being a fan of the source material. I watched S1 and was partially though S2, tried harder than I should have to like it, and couldn't. I even like a couple other idol shows, but LL was just not good.
On the bright side, finding out that I don't like LL has freed me of my longing for its figures.

if you don't like physical copies don't buy them

I can barely into japanese but by what you just said, I wouldn't expect you to know what owning as physical copy feels like. By the way, I also prefer to read them on sadpanda.
