Shame you spergs are too insecure to allow its proper discussion, and have to shitpost every time it's brought up

>proper discussion
What, pray tell, do you think proper discussion entails?

Lucky Star isn't "otaku culture," it's niwaka pandering shit. For the kind of people who've seen thirty shows but talk to their middle school classmates about unique and smart they are for liking Death Note. Like all KyoAni works it apes the originality and vibrancy of what was once an interesting subculture to sell already finished, overpriced plastic to "nerds" who can't talk about anything deeper than how their "waifu" is. It deserves to be destroyed.

I

I like Kyoani but the first episode is so boring.

But is it really easy to ignore the FUCKTON of references it made to older, beloved works?

>FUCKTON of references
If you want a show with references, watch something like Excel Saga.

Remember when Lucky Star fans saw the dentist conversation and could only talk about Gurren Lagann?

Not that period but something like Aoi Hono is a much better portrayal of otaku culture than Lucky Star, which had little more than references and going to Comiket. I still like Lucky Star, I just dunno if being a period piece is a strength.

It wasn't gurren lagann though.

That's the point, user.
It's a niwaka show, and European fans didn't even pass that hurdle.

Lucky Star is a good representation of actually existing anime fans in Japan, the vast majority of whom are not otaku

>I just dunno if being a period piece is a strength

It's good as a time capsule you can visit again and again

Yeah, shame about that

The dub is great

It mostly makes me miss 2007

Every time I watched it I couldn't help but notice all the times the news reminded viewers about some little girl getting kidnapped or something. Also the fact that the representation of male otaku at comiket wasn't exactly flattering. Overall it was pretty harsh

I think that was the whole point of the anime. KyoAni had just become a worldwide sensation, and probably wanted to create something so that its fans won't ever forget that short, golden time.

The time of Haruhi Suzumiya ;-;

>Kawaii uguu
>I want to fuck X
>I want to lick X's feet
>X is cute. CUTE
>THICC

Is what he meant as proper discussions. He already got that in majority of the threads so i don't know what he's crying about.

Nice projecting. What's your opinion on lucky star?

>it showed otaku culture perfectly.

Yeah, the worst part of it.

still my favorite Kyoani show

Which end of the chocolate cornet is the head?

I know, right? Every time otakus were mentioned, it was directed at literal fat neckbeards with funny voices. Kagami flipped when someone compared her to an otaku. Even Kona calls herself otaku only self-deprecatingly

I really liked Lucky Star, but it was one of my first anime. I started a rewatch, got about halfway through, and it still holds up. It has a lot of comedy besides references too. But it's nice to get a few more of them too, but not that many probably, if most of them are to seasobal trash from the mid 2000s, I have seen very little.
If you don't get Lucky Star, it's probably more that you are too young to remember the 2000s than the references, because a lot of the comedy is about regular life as it was in the 2000s.

Who [afk] hardsubs here?

I remember watching it back in high school on Animax. The ad called it "the year's funniest high school comedy" so I was kinda confused by the lack of it in the first few episodes. But the characters were adorable and it managed to to be really relateable. By the end I was surprised when I realised I was gonna miss it when it's done.

Good times

This. Couldn't bring myself to watch lucky star again after Disappearance.

Aaand no answer :^)

Don't use emoticons on Sup Forums.

It was excellent, but I have no wish to see it again

Also, I BUY SAUSAGE

That time also basically marked the beginning of the end of anime, or what you could call the "Moe Revolution".

That was a few years earlier (Love Hina, Densha Otoko, Gundam SEED, more distantly Eva). Lucky Star was just the consequence of that

It started long before Haruhi.

>too young to remember the 2000s
Jesus christ I guess there really are infants on the board.

Lucky Star is pretty mediocre though. As much as I liked it back in the day it really is pretty standard moeshit.

I'll raise you a classic

>a period piece of 2006-08
That's true.
The references were part of the charm, but it had the unfortunate effect of dating the show.
Tried to re-watch and couldn't get through it.

Lucky Star was cancer and I am getting some bad flashbacks just by remembering it.
It was the MLP of the 00's.

Are we talking about REFERENCES?

>Hay guise
Fuck.

Ah yes, the time when you could get banned permanently for the lulz.

>it had the unfortunate effect of dating the show
At the time it made it seem rather unoriginal, particularly when references were cliche (the Initial D part springs to mind) or just self congratulatory.

It's amazing how quickly it seemed to get old, it felt dated 5 years ago.

I would take stuff like that again over the retarded shit people are saying now like kek and calling anything and everything a meme.

I most definitely would too. I was just remembering that people actually used to type like that unironically. Good times.

Such a cancerous times.

I think the main difference is that when today you tell somebody that something is shitposting he'll respond with the equivalent of "So? Fuck this board", while back then you would have had an argument over what was good for the board.
The percentage of people not caring about the quality of Sup Forums or Sup Forums has gone up.

it's definitely unusually good.

Sup underaged

Do it, user. Say hay guise unironically while calling me underaged. That'd make for a great post.

Yeah, it does.

Compared to what we have today? I'll take hay guise.

>Proper discussion
About what OP? What should we discuss?

We discussed it back when it aired retard. It's not our fault you weren't there for it. I don't have the comic can someone commence the dump?

>Eva
>Love Hina
>Moe Revolution
In what way LH is a moe centric show? (harem =/= moe)
And please tell me about Eva.

Why you deleted your post if you were going to post the same shit?

I'm pretty sure the first post was deleted by a mod for the emoticon.
