What is net neutrality

Sup Forums, ignorant here, what is net neutrality and how will it affect USA and Europe?

Won't affect Europe in any way. The internet will take a blast to the past. All the way back to the olden days of 2014. Ignore fearmongering shitposters.

Thanks user

You're welcome! I just hope my harem of anime girls are safe in the den.

>American education

NN is a blanket preemptive ruling on the internet. This means you're handing too much power to the government. I'm okay with it if the government is benevolent but that's not always or too often not the case.

Just imagine if a democrat wins 2020. Sup Forums will most definitely be erased from the interwebs

Net neutrality is a hoax.
Take a look at every company in favor of net neutrality, google, amazon, facebook ...

It's true though. I won't be overall hurt by this. The NN laws didn't get implemented until 2015. The return of broadband isn't the end of the world.

Don't you have no NN laws? If you don't, what's that like for you?

are you literally retarded?
i think you are literally retarded, you have to be.

You are right in the sense that all of the Net Neutrality shit is just fearmongering propaganda by retarded corporate shills, but there were some problems that NN fixed, like companies like Comcast throttling torrents, and shit like that. It wouldn't be a problem at all, if the liberals didn't force monopolies on everyone with ISPs, though, by regulating too much locally and taking bribes/demanding payouts, though. If ISPs were actually forced to compete with each other, they would be forced to improve service and couldn't get away with stuff like that.

In my small rural town in Vermont, we don't have these state/city/town enforced monopolies, so we have a bunch of small ISPs that offer REALLY cheap Internet connections. Comcast has to actually compete for customers, so we get insanely fast speeds, and I only pay $87/month for TV and Internet.

Explain.

NetNeutrality is advanced Judaism.

It pretends to keep the internet neutral by ensuring all regulations are at the carrier end, thereby making it cost prohibitive for new entrants, while allowing content sites to censor how they please.

The obvious result is that big carriers no longer have to fear new competition and DeepState does not have to allow free speech on their socmed platforms. Win-win for (((them))), getting fucked for us.

So, yes, it would influence you and all other net users.

Damn... It'll probably be a little more expensive for suburban retards like myself, I guess. I just highly, highly doubt what the Euros are saying, about Sup Forums being permanently blocked for all American ISP users, is true. I also highly doubt that these potential prices aren't nearly as horrifically ridiculous as most of these fearmongers claim.

The bullshit they push about tiered Internet plans has no basis in reality, and is literally corporate scare propaganda made by Google, Netflix, Amazon, etc. No ISP has ever tried to push a service like that in the 20 years before Net Neutrality, and there is no way that they would now, with mobile Internet being more and more popular and becoming a feasible replacement for home Internet, just like happened with home phones (notice how companies like Verizon pushed back on unlimited plans for so long, because they have a stake in the home Internet market)

Net Neutrality is a messy solution for a problem that the same liberals created (the monopolies of ISPs allowing them to pull BS moves) that ends up making everything more of a fucking mess. They just keep slapping more and more bandaids on top of an increasingly festering wound.

Americans gets a balkanized internet. For us here in eurobongland maybe some sites will be harder to reach or become more expensive.

Can Ajit Pai tank a hit from Reinhardt?

Net neutrality is the reason you can still look up
>ebony incest mother daughter bestiality porn

>olden days of 2014
uh huuuh

If you don't understand the subject at hand, you really shouldn't be commenting on it.

Trump is against it so we're against it
that's all that matters

Holy fuck you're retarded.

Do not listen to anyone here, if you like the internet the way it is now, aka Freedom to go anywhere then Net Neutrality is your best friend. Everyone else is full of shit. It actual shills and faggots attacking Sup Forums thinking they can sway people who know what they are talking about. If you're still not sure then.

You still haven't explained. I'm going to be okay and you refuse to admit it.

I don't care if I can't pirate vidyo gaymz anymore as long as it makes redditors mad.

I’d just like to interject for moment. What you’re refering to as Net Neutrality is in fact, Title II of the Communications Act of 1934 and Section 706 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, Title II. Title II is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another component of net neutrality

Whatever. I'm not getting no sleep because of this stupid meeting. I'll be allowed on Sup Forums for years to come and nothing will change drastically except, at worst, a small bump in price.

JUST FUCKING READ IT REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>what is net neutrality
depends on how you define it
the concept of net neutrality is the idea that you should not be restricted access to content and sites based on something such as, say, you're geographic location, or the sites content (hatespeech, see daily stormer and stormfront for why current NN is bullshit) etc etc etc
the modern take on NN?
You remeber SOPA, and how it went under a variety of different names until it got passed, like PIPA and ACTA, right?
that's exactly what's happening here.
politicians misleading people by calling something a thing that its not, and raising fear-mongering and anger to a whole new level to try to pass regulations that will make the shutdown of amateur radio look like a fucking joke

You know what will be better then all of this NN bullshit?
the breakup of both digital content provider monopolies, such as google and apple, and the breakup of ISP monopolies, such as Coimcast and Verizon
but you mention that and the shills come out of the woodwork to autisitcally screech at you and accuse you of being indian and an ISP shill, despite openly stating you want monopolies shut down
its literally a statist scam, don't buy into it.

>lmfao what are you, straight? reading is for retards, bruh
this is the mindset of most of the fucking NN shills, because actually looking into things is wrongbad, ignorance is strength, etc etc

It is what the postal services do to your mail.

Not net neutrality is the Stazi opening every letter posted in the country and deciding how many days the letter will need to go to destination.

If anyone read it. It stated many times that the government is the one who's going to decide which is "illegal" and not protected by the regulation

Yes compared to the benevolent companies such as comcast and verizon

it means i have to pay to stream my hentais

Net neutrality its the protection of basic neutrality from the interests of an isp. If we were to lose it you well see throttling of speed or blocking of certain sites and tiered internet packs for different levels of access to sites. Verizon might for instance receive money from cnn to include them in their super cheap 10-website access basic pack, and all kind of slimy shit like that.

Who cares, you fat burgers got what you deserve. We won't have this in the two most beautiful places on earth: Romania & France, because we aren't cucked.

You are the cucked one, ready to pay 40 more bucks per month to use the internet as you used to yesterday

You will never get an intelligent answer to your question here, user. Just google it.

NN is the idea that all traffic on the internet should be treated equally by your ISP. I.E. ISPs cannot throttle streaming traffic to favor normal web traffic, or vice-versa. It's all gotta be handled equally.

Really what it is, is letting the major streaming sites use up to 70% of the internet's traffic and not have to pay a single dime for the increased load on network infrastructure because "muh equality."

Getting rid of it means that ISPs would be within their right to demand recompense from these streaming giants like Netflix and Hulu and Spotify, or rather pay their "fair share", since they're using up such a massive shitload of bandwidth when it comes to internet traffic. And they don't want that, because when customers see their Netflix subscriptions jump from $10.99 to $19.99, they'll lose all that juicy huge profit they're currently making.

>France
>beautiful
Nice try frog.

Its meaningless drivel hyped to enormous proportion by internet spergs. The whole discussion is literally about fucking nothing. Wake me up if any of the hypothetical scenarios the various doomsday prophets come up with actually pan out. Then we can make a law to fix it. Meanwhile in the real world the internet has worked the same in pretty much every time and place despite widely varying legislation on the topic.

Stop complaining about net neutrailty. Help fix some REAL problems.
sage

in a nutshell: it's communism for the internet.
it's not good.

Wow this was the most retarded explanation user, why don't you suck the pajeets dick even more.

I'll explain the important part.

Lets say you have a cell phone, with 4G data, and you use all your data up. Then the cellphone company will throttle your shit, and the internet becomes impossible to use.

Now, in the case of netutraility, the googles, twitters, youtubes etc beceom the YOU.

These sits use up a lot of data, but they never get throttled.
If net nutraility falls through then these googles and amazons will have to pay a lot of money for more data.
Where will they get this money? From you the consumer, they will have to charge you 9.99 a month just so they can keep running smoothly.

Before the current net neutrality established in 2015, we had a different net neutrality, what we currently have is a slight upgrade from that. you fucking idiot.

this law will remove all of that, so the internet will not be like before 2015.

>Won't effect europe
Everything in america, effects everyone, everywhere.

Do you europeans like to use youtube by chance? twitter maybe? Are you retarded?

Not important for you my british friend
Here in Europe this kind of problem would never affect us

Every single thing that happens in the USA effects us sooner or later.

Do you use, google, facebook, youtube or twitter?
It affects you.

Net neutrality is protected by the European law, until a massive change there's no way that a single man can deny us of this right like in the US

Stream starts at 10:30 EST
fcc.gov/general/live

Can't tell if brainwashed by all the shills or actually retarded.

>Do you europeans like to use youtube by chance? twitter maybe? Are you retarded?
>implying putting twitter behind a paywall is a bad thing

Also getting rid of Youtube means getting rid of e-celeb cancer. sounds fine in my book.

Net neutrality is the idea that ISPs should not be allowed to discriminate between different connections. With it, the government gets extra power, and probably fucks up, but it's the status quo right now. Without it, we get less regulation, but various content providers (or torrenting) might get throttled.

Personally, I think we should repeal NN, then keep going and repeal other regulations that make it so expensive for competition to start up. Less regulation, more competition, better for everybody.

Can you make it less obvious you're from the FCC?

net neutrality is gay and it will destroy burgers

I'm not sure if you're implying I'm a government shill or a corporate shill.

I'd say a bit of both. You give yourself away by being so precise in what you want to say.
I'm guessing you're trying to use that post to show even Sup Forums want's NN repealed, which we both know is false.

It's not affecting Europe, because EU has already got something similar to Net Neutrality.
US will have old Portugal Internet plans.

Basically pay diffrent prices to use different apps...yeah this is bad.

Uhhh, what? Just look around, dude. Most of the people here are anti-NN. I'll admit it isn't all bad -- hasn't fucked up enormously yet, and it's the status quo, and it's helpful as a bandage. But the real problem is local monopolies by ISPs, and the only real way of solving that is deregulation.

Who are you trying to fool?
We know what you're doing.

call me a retard, but will it also affect South America?

You're a retard.
And no.

>We
Alright, bud. Whatever you say.

thanks and sorry mister poland
