Why is this series so disappointing?

Why is this series so disappointing?
Did the first OVA and Kill la Kill set standards too high to live up to?

Those aren't particular high standards OP. Trigger is just a trash studio

Why would you expect something good from trigger

It's good though. The fuck did you expect?

As a rule of thumb, lower your expectations a bit if a show you watch isn't made by KyoAni.

I thought this series would get an actual plot, not be a fucking slice of boring

the ova worked because they were short. the 2nd one was longer and it felt longer. the TV series still wants to inject some personality in this cast of gimmicks and it sucks.

Being SoL would be fine if it expanded on the world building, made the characters grow and have good interactions.
But the characters are actually regressing and the interactions feel forced and fake, like in the second OVA.
I have no idea what the fuck they are doing.

Stop trying so hard, it's cringey.

You can feel the writer change from the first OVA to the rest. Even ignoring the animation, the first OVA was a little masterpiece. The writing was incredibly dense, in just 20 minutes it established a setting full of details, a rather big cast of characters each one with some quirks, and it perfectly executed a self contained story.
What did the second OVA and the series accomplished with x7 the time? Almost nothing.

>insulting Trigger
>trying so hard
If I really wanted to insult Trigger I'd say it was the bastard offspring of a dying studio, well past its prime, forced to churning out mediocrity to keep the lights on.

The problem is you thought Kill la Kill was any good in the first place. Trigger has made effectively nothing of worth aside from perhaps the government sponsored LWA OVA but some people are obsessed with this studio.

What is Inferno Cop

Kill la Kill is just as good as the first OVA.

But it's really not. The writing quality goes out the window in the second half and the animation consistency suffers as well.

I LOVE Imaishi and 'that' style of animation and storytelling that his work at Gainax had, so I had high hopes for Trigger as a studio.

But instead Trigger suck fucking ass. Inferno Cop was somewhat funny, that was it, but it still wasn't great. The LWA OVA was pretty good, but nothing incredible. Everything else they have made is bad. It's so painfully obvious that they have no budget to play with.

>Kill la Kill
>set standards too high

>The writing quality goes out the window in the second half
Just say that it went over your head.
>and the animation consistency suffers as well.
Limited to 3 episodes that suffered because of the delay, didn't hurt the overall quality that much.

>lol 2deep4u
>it doesn't count because I say so
What the fuck is wrong with Triggerfags?

>Just say that it went over your head.
Nothing went over anyone's head, it was a simple minded series all around

Most Gainax/Trigger originals since FLCL are perfect pleb filters since they only look stupid to stupid people.

Nice plan, take credit for Gainax's work to add to your point. Thanks for implying I don't like FLCL, it's highly amusing.

...

If you didn't pick up the obvious thematic and narrative consistency of those works (except Kiznaiver) that's your problem, tracing a line between them that doesn't exists.

I don't get why Triggerniggers lump both studios together as if they were one, as far as I know only 3 former Gainax employees are in Trigger, and only Imashi was relevant at all when he worked there. The bulk of 90s Gainax are either on Khara, or freelancers.

>only 3 former Gainax employees are in Trigger,
Lurk more, you imbecile.

It was a good one off but it's proving to be subpar as an actual series. If they start to actually get some real world building I might stay beyond the first cour.

>Kill la Kill
>standards too high
I don't get it.

We know you're not the brightest.

And I just decided to check this out. First episode was boring shit, second one was decent.
So I guess its not really worth watching further right now?
