What kind of friend are you? Are you perhaps a friend who's good for nothing?
Kemono Friends
...
I'm extremely good at wasting time.
...
...
...
What does it say?
Welp, that's cute.
As much as I also want to have a Kemono Friends thread all week, it's better if this is the last.
Look at the thread right now, it's an empty image dump, we've discussed everything we could this week.
What's the deal with this series? Is it's "massive popularity" just an elaborate 2ch troll?
I can already see your strong points.
It happens to be a good anime with a refreshing premise. Give it a try.
...
Some people will accept all manner of waste.
It's cute and sweet and fun and comfy. And then it adds a little something extra with mystery. Give it a try, grandpa.
It's like a nostalgic educational program for kids that comes on late at night complete with all the fun an adult could poke at it.
Mediocre, but with charm.
Fun things are fun.
It's just a cute anime about searching what you're good at and being accepted for who you are, no matter what. It's comfy, has mushy adventure plot, a bit of post-apoc plot between the lines and just a bit of existential dread about society IRL and being in a constant rat race.
Or is it just projecting
>massive popularity
It's literally just one Friend that is good at faking popularity.
About time someone acknowledged all the hard work I have been putting in.
I appreciate your efforts, Friend.
I'm not your Friend, though.
It has the best 'world building' of any series this year. The characters are cute as fuck and the ameteurish voice acting is addicting. I think a lot of Nips are digging it because Japari Park is a happy fantasy escape similar to Gensokyo.
fuck i want to live in Japari Park so bad ;_;
If you're not a friend, what are you doing in this thread?
Maybe he's the type of friend that doesn't know he's a friend?
It's Kemono Friends broadcast day!
Well, I guess it's not a big deal. (I don't remember what exactly are we translating her catchphrase as)
My niggah, you'll become a good wife
>That feel when someone just made a CM3D2 mod for her
Time to defile
Gonna need some sauce user.
Thanks.
Literally Bushiroad sutema.
Sugoooooi.
I wouldn't say it has a great world building even if the world it depicts sure is nice and intriguing.
Then if you compare it to the other anime from this season, there isn't that much competition in that department but I'd say Acca 13 does it better.
Yeah, I guess that was hyperbole and honestly I don't know the exact definition of world building, but its amazing how they took a concept so simple and turned into something interesting.
The world sort of reminds me of the WoW horde areas except all the enemies and monsters are cute girls who want to be friends.
Prairie dog a sloot.
>two pairs of ears
But it's just a greeting in America.
>being a two-eared freak
ACCA's world building really isn't particularly good just because there's a lot of it. Especially with all the "As you know," exposition.
Stil better than Kemono Friends. But I agree that Acca's world building isn't anything special either.
Yeah, fair enough. Although I'd probably deduct ACCA points because it seems to be trying so hard, whereas Kemono Friends is keeping things simple but making it look effortless. At least ACCA has bags of style.
One of Kemono friends great strengths is that the director seems to be aware of what is possible in the format they use and makes the best of it rather than trying too hard and failing.
Well decided to check this out after seeing numerous threads about a show, ended up watching it all and still wanting more.
Thanks Sup Forums!

The thing is that Kemono friends doesn't dump all the world building at you, they gave us small hints sporadically, the longest ones came from Serval, Hippo, Boss, Tsuchinoko and well that's pretty much it, the rest where up to the viewer with stuff like the broken bridge, the lava and other small lines the other characters made.
It's so small and well integrated it gets mixed in the fun adventure, it might not be extensive world building, but it is done nicely.
I think they might be more than friends.
I think Kemono Friends world building seems effortless, because it in fact doesn't make efforts. It's minimalist and the viewers are tempted to to fill the gap by themselves. For example we try to deduce the size of the world with shitty-looking maps with no scale, to find a logical explanation to the current state of the park or to where the fuck do the Japari Buns come from.
The world of Kemono Friends doesn't contains obvious contradictions and doesn't make you go "Shit, that doesn't make any sense!", because the information that would provoke this sort of thoughts isn't there in the place.
Note that I'm not saying it's a bad thing and I agree what those two are saying Acca on the other is at least trying, even if with every episode the bird country seems to make less and less sense and to be more out of a fairy tale than a history book.
I think that any real world is definitely more complex than anything an author can come up with, and giving a lot of information is a good way to make a world seems more believable even if it's not enough by itself.
These doubled in price again.
They are just those 2" mini-figures that typically come with magazines or from 300 yen machines.
Fuck that pink panther is adorable.
I have a question. How is kemono girls anime being perceived by the Japanese mass? What is the sales expectancy and other related reactions?
I think kemono girls is an exceptional anime and deserves more attention.
>sub 10k Yen
And now it's only 5 in stock.
Basically what happened to the talking ponies show over here, just in smaller scale and smaller shock value.
You said it yourself, ACCA tries but if you stop and think on the information given it stops making sense in the small scale, I'm not going to ditch their efforts but I like the presentation that Kemono Friends is giving us, they gave us a world and explore it bit by bit without going in an extensive info dump other than the recorded explanations.
I appreciate both kind of world building, but in this season KF is handling it better for its type of show.
>mobile game was a bust and died
>anime is advertising for something that's not even online anymore
>gains a bunch of fringe popularity out of the blue but will likely fade with the last episode, sales will probably be a flop
Everything about this situation seems like a tragic anomaly.
They were 4900 on wednesday, and even that seemed high.
There are no brakes on the serval train.
It's always been popular on Futaba, but for some reason it got even more popular this week.
Otter a cute. Also, prairy dog's hyperactivity is contagious.
>sales will probably be a flop
Amazon and Rakuten literally sold out of pre-ordes, and BD/DVD for the next 5 volume are all trending as hot items.
People are already selling their preorder at double the price.
Rather than making a new mobage, kemono would be really good fit for a platform/puzzle game.
Since all the friends have different abilities, it'd be similar to Battle for Bikini bottom, where you have to switch between characters to solve different puzzles.
Mother of God.
Japanese have been liking little girls show for decades, and CGDCT has been a genre of anime for a good 10 years now. They also invented the word iyashikei.
I don't think a show that holds many similarities with those and could even be considered iyashikei being succesful is anything extraordinary. What's exceptionnal is that Kemono Friends is a cheap 3D anime part of a franchise of which the main product is a dead mobage. It's a total dark-horse and a surprise for everyone, that probably creates some sort of fascination and curiosity which compels people to give it a try.
...
It was the #1 selling book in Japan (not #1 selling anime, but #1 selling book) on amazon this week until they pulled it because the supplier could not meet the demand.
This has a book?
How does the manga compare to the anime?
That is the official guidebook but it also includes episode 1 & 2.
What the hell is going on?
It's presented as an "official guide book" with a bonus BD. Obviously people are now buying it mainly for the BD.
...
There's nothing weird about a good anime selling well.
Cute girls that are also cute animals. Or rather, animals that are also cute girls doing cute things.
Kemonomimis are great.
I'm not saying that in a bad way. I'm impressed that there is demand yet no supply for this.
I mean I understand the manufacturer being unable to supply the immediate demand but do we have news of a reprint?
Wow I didn't know Nexon made kemono friends mobile game
Myamyamyamyamya~
>What the hell is going on?
This is a mild version of the bronie phenomenon. Something that adult men with disposable income were not expected to like suddenly attracted thousands of men with disposable income.
It caught the industry off guard and there is now a feeding frenzy going on as people fight over what little merchandise exists for this series. As things sell out it becomes more newsworthy and more people hear about it.
\Would headpat either. And probably get horribly
mauled in the process.
>Something that adult men with disposable income were not expected to like
Except it's not. How many times do we need to say this? Kemono Friends is a late-night show, it was aimed at Otaku from the beginning. They just didn't expect it to be so succesful.
Except Kemono Friends was aimed at adults.
It doesn't go full-on otaku pandering which confuses a lot of people
There's no self-insert male
There's no otaku who points out how much things are like a video game / light novel
There are no out of place fan service scenes
There are no still images of characters getting covered in some kind of sticky white goop.
With the exception of the sexy animal outfits, kemono is completely child friendly
child-friendly =/= aimed at children
It's the same kind of people that leaks from other boards and thinks K-on! is a show for little girls.
I'm not saying that its aimed for children, I'm just saying that its easy to think it is.
I don't think you've watched enough anime.
Ppplease translate. I only understand half of it.
>Where much is known of the larger cats of the Serengeti, the Serval has remained somewhat of a mystery. Yet, it is a beautiful animal, possessing the regal quality of the cats of ancient Egypt. The Serval also has a distinct character and filmmaker, Owen Newman, was astounded by its habits and abilities. It turns out to be a plucky little cat, driving off jackals after a kill and taking on storks, the biggest birds on the plains. Still, life is tough for these apparently delicate animals and this film proves that they are every bit as charming as their bigger relatives.
>Presented by: Sir David Attenborough
I got it, it wasn't directed at you. I just wanted to add something to your post.
...
I sure hope they put Ibis song on the OST.
There's other ways to pander to otaku.
Just adding to the discussion. I'm South Korean and I'm interested in Asian economy in general.
>Korea made an animation "pororo" which started gaining excessive amount of attention from 2008
>Basically a story about animals who can talk and all that made in shitty CG
>Makes 600~750 million USD in sales yearly more than half of that comes from foreign market
>About 13 million USD comes from royalty, and 600 million USD comes from goods sales.
>Brand value estimated a little over 720 million USD
It's amazing considering that it was made in shit country like Korea. The reason it became famous is because the company focused its product advertisement and licensing abroad.
I think Kemono friends falls no short to what pororo showed in quality, so I believe there's no reason for the kemono friends to not shine.
>girls kissing girls
>child friendly
American detected. Who but the merkins would prefer gun violence over a platonic kissu?
Not everybody lives in puritan Murrica or in a muslim shithole.
Why is Ibis always so lewd?
>The reason it became famous is because the company focused its product advertisement and licensing abroad.
Here's the thing. This show had almost no publicity at all and the staff was aware it was going to flop hard, hence the general confusion about his sudden success. It's also starting to spread here in the west, even if just around sakugafags and other circlejerkers of their kind.
Don't sakugadorks normally hate 3DCG because it is the devil's curse that is killing anime and other REEE-worthy nonsense?
It's the eyes.
Also, nice trips.
>around sakugafags
Aren't they just parroting the japanese social networks because they're attention whore?
I know little about them but from what I've gathered it seems so-called "sakufags" are essentially wannabe e-celeb that thinks they're some sort of elite otaku.
is this anime OK as religeonly...?
...
frikkin' saved. patboner.
