There's a reason America has the slowest and most expensive internet in the western world, and it's not because we need to treat all content the same.
If the free market worked, we'd have the fastest, but instead heavily regulated places like Japan, South Korea, and Europe all have it better. Even Canada has faster internet.
NN was a short-sighted way to try to make people happy by shielding them from the cost of their activities, and it was unsustainable in the long run. Just like Obamacare, really, so no surprise.
The small, one-town ISP I use has almost 50% of its bandwidth tied up by Netflix. People get fiber and then hammer it by turning their TVs on all day in the background -- why not? It's ridiculous to think that's somehow a right, that the company providing you that access doesn't have any say in it. They'll come up with "premium streaming" packages for people who need it, just like high data packages on cell phones, and we'll all wonder what the fuss was about.
As far as ISPs shutting off access to "dangerous" web sites, they're not the ones looking to do that. They never wanted to be in the business of judging traffic in the first place, and only care about bandwidth. Google and the content/search providers are the much bigger threat to cut off access to sites based on content.
