Net neutrality actually increases costs for consumers. Think about it this way, let's say you never watch Netflix, but all your neighbors do. It costs the ISP when your neighbors are all streaming 1080p video content 24 hours a day. With net neutrality they are legally barred from charging Netflix for this. So what do you think they do, eat the cost? No, of course not, they pass it on to the consumer. But they're legally barred from passing it on to only the Netflix users. So what do they do? Split it across every customer. Now everyone's bill goes up a little instead of just the Netflix users' bills going up a lot. If you don't watch Netflix you're subsidizing everyone who does.
Without net neutrality, the ISP can bill Netflix directly, rather than raising the rates of people who don't even use Netflix. Obviously Netflix isn't going to eat the costs either, but Netflix can only pass the costs on to its own customers. The end result is internet is cheaper for everyone because the ISP can recuperate costs from content providers, and content is more expensive. So your internet bill goes down but your Netflix monthly fee goes up. Of course, if you don't watch Netflix your bill just goes down. It's fairer, you pay for what you use instead of subsidizing everyone else.

Everyone is misunderstanding how this will actually play out. Comcast is not going to charge you more money so you can access Sup Forums in high speed, comcast is going to charge disney and anime studios and other content providers so that they will throttle any of their content on non-approved platforms. That means the age of streaming shit is over. Anyone who pays the fees, their content will be throttled on sites that try to host it without permission. You won't be allowed to watch anything that's copyrighted without paying for it anymore. That's what this means.
