Can I get a quick rundown on that? Is that exclusively an American thing or is it somehow gonna happen in Russia as well?

Sucks because Netflix is going to rake up prices because the failures of ISPs not wanting to upgrade their infrastructure and big media hogs like Netflix are going to be charged for basically using all of their resources.

Yay maybe now they can't make propaganda and distribute it for free and make money off it.

The regulation applies to American industries.
Netflix's costs will go up, which is why they are opposing this (and making useful idiots do their dirty work). But they'll still be around just fine.

Netflix has been taking business away from ISP by underselling TV shows for $11 a month. The Net Neutrality law prevented ISPs from charging Netflix a premium for using massive bandwidth and simultaneously taking business away from TV subscriptions.

The entire thing was a raquet to protect Alphabet Inc. and Amazon who donated heavily to the DNC and Obama capaigns.

Didn't have shit to do with neutrality.

(((Netflix))) prices will probably go up everywhere now that they have to subsidize the cost of their fair share of America's bandwidth.

>Sucks because Netflix is going to rake up prices because the failures of ISPs not wanting to upgrade their infrastructure and big media hogs like Netflix are going to be charged for basically using all of their resources.

nigga do u even know how the internet works? do you know what a CDN is?

netflix was demanding more than 'isps ugrade their infrastructure'

netflix was demanding ISPs build and maintain content distribution networks for netflix's content.

that goes well beyond the responsibility and scope of an ISP's service.

>subsidize the cost of their fair share of America's bandwidth.

You're already paying ISPs for that, retard.

Fuck retards here don't know that Netflix already paid for a fast lane infrastructure to be built when Net Neutrality was already put in place.

ISPs have been losing funds ever since services like Netflix came onto the scene, they're demands would be rediculous if you didn't understand that they are nust bullshit political posturing with the long term intention to bankrupt ISPs so Amazon and Google can do a hostile takeover.

NN was designed to kill current ISPs for Google and Amazon.

Not since 2015's Open Internet Order. In fact, the Netflix case is specifically mentioned in the actual court order

Alright, thanks m80s. Should I shill for net neutrality on my black twitter account or against it?

I doubt black people know what a megabit is anyway.

Netflix financed pro war propaganda films against Syria and Ukraine. Fuck em.

This. Fuck Netflix.

This is the only slver lining in all of this. Fuck netflix. I get to watch leftist agendas crumble as my own rights are stripped away.

George Soros bought 13.5 million dollars worth of shares last year

> You have a hot dog stand. It is the best hot dog stand in the land. (Netflix, or the internet in general)
> For the sake of explaining, there is only a single train in this land to get to said hot dog stand. We'll also assume it's too far to walk, and there are no other ways to get there. If you want a hot dog, you have to take this train (Your ISP to get on the net)
> Customers pay a nominal fee to ride the train (Your payment to said ISP)
> The Hot Dog stand pays a nominal fee to be part of the train network (Peering, connectivity, all that jazz you do as a large site)
> Customers love the hot dogs so much that they tell their friends, the trains are packed full! (Internet use skyrockets)
> Other stores, your job, and government offices have relocated near the stand because it's so awesome (Various societal functions are directly tied to the internet. Banking, getting a job, etc are all tied through it)
> The Train company notices this, decides to start charging people more to increase capacity. (Peering agreements issues from some years back)
> The hot dog stand offers to put a hot dog car on the train, but the train company says 'no' because they like charging people money (Comcast refusing to host netflix servers to reduce bandwidth load, seriously read up on this, it was 2010-2011 ish)
cont.

> The train company realizes that people NEED to take the train and will pay nearly anything to get there, and decide to do almost nothing and continue rolling in money. (Comcast / time warner / etc. Gives middle finger and bad deals to networks who are unable to negotiate, either due to money or size)
> The train company in the 90s lobbied the government, and there can be no other train companies. Technically there CAN be, but they own all the track, and you need to be rich to even try. If you do try, they'll fight you every step of the way ($200+ billion in government money to lay fiber that Telcos pocketed, google fiber being prevented expansion at every possible instance)
> The government steps in and says the rails need to be shared, and and other trains allowed on the track, also no forcing people to wait longer than necessary to get to the shops and shit they need to access (Net Neutrality / Title II)
> The train company lobbies the government and Promises *Really hard* they were doing that all along and never planned to make it more expensive, also muh free market, muh capitalism!
> government changes, train lobby suceeds in installing someone dumb enough to go along with them (Ajit Paj)

Who the fuck just won? The people who are going 'regulation is bad, muh free market' don't realize that there IS no free market, thanks to the corporate lobbiests. This is crony capitalism at it's finest. Yes, Title II had some pretty bad stuff attached due to BS the Obama admin pulled, but don't act like anyone won here.

>Netflix is going to rake up prices
And I should care because?

no we just stalled it from getting infinitely worse....

>boo hoo, I can't watch Orange is the New Black anymore! Well I can, but now my daddy netflix will be super upset

You're a fag.

>internet
>a human right

come on dude, our education system isn't THAT bad...

your analogy falls off in the end and fails to explain why nn repealment in bad

Why was it bad? WHat we had until now?
