A good parallel would be Scott Brown winning the 2010 U.S. Senate special election in Massachusetts, after Ted Kennedy died. Was Obama's first year in office, and he got paired against a bad Democratic candidate (Martha Coakley, who also lost to MA's current Republican Governor a few years later.)

Then, of course, the Democratic Party got completely wiped out later that year in the 2010 midterms. The massive majority they amassed in the U.S. House in 2006 and 2008 went 'poof' overnight.

Scott Brown only had that seat a few years, and promptly lost to Elizabeth Warren. That is Doug Jones's fate too.

The seat nere should have been up for grabs in the fisrst place. That moron shit-for-brains Cheeto-in-Chief never should have picked sessions for AG. THAT was the start of all the problems because Howdy-Doody-Sessions had to recuse himself...then the Special Counsel appointed by the Dept'y AG, and the rest is history. Trumpwit took out a sure-fire life-long Senate seat. THEN he torpedoes Moore's chances by endorsing Strange in the primaries. What a fugging dope! How inept can you get?
