Harem anime and beta males

Why don't harem anime have masculine and alpha protagonists?

snecki is cute

Because then they would be hentai anime.
What a stupid question.

Aside from Araragi from Monogatari, what harem anime has alpha male leads?

You can be alpha without sex involved.

an all too rare example is T7

A harem LN not yet animated named Majika Kenshi something something has an alpha MC named Kazuki who while at first acts like a beta, snaps out of it.

if you dont want to hold the MC's head underwater then you're not watching harem

Because it turns out those are only good for comedies.

Lack of relatablility, marketability, and conflict

Because the harem aspect would last two episodes max and the rest would be a romantic drama about a man and his lover fending off jealous bitches

I'm more curious why we don't get more harem animes with a female MC.

...

We do, it's called real life.

>unsuitable self insert for otaku
>series would just be porn instead of the blueballing carrot-on-stick shit that people eat up

>Shoujo anime
>Girl and guy become a couple relatively fast
>Male targeted anime
>Blueballs the reader for hundreds of chapter

What did they mean by this?

A guy fucks a bunch of girls. How do you make an interesting show out of that without resorting to hentai?

because /u/fags are autistic and don't actually know what they like

Because it would turn into porn very quick.

>Have the main plot run alongside the harem action seperately
>Have white knights challenge the MC

The Rance series has been going on for a while now, they seem to know what they're doing there.

>Shou1
>Beta
He has touched more girls than you in your entire lifetime

Have it completely in the background with maybe the occasional offhand mention.

>Seiren
>harem

pick one

>What is fujoshit

Maybe the MC can be alfa and everyone wants to fuck all the time but something prevents them. Like some retarded magic reason.

Because the hopeless NEET virgins won't be able to self-insert and relive their boring high school days

So insecure nerds can self-insert.

I kind of like how Strike the blood handles it. MC lewds up half the girls for plot device reasons. It's not strictly a harem anime, however, even though a harem is present

Because it's not a harem you nigger?

>harem with a beta lead
might as well watch yuri desu

Dai ushiro mao
Hagare yuusha no estetica
DxD(Sort of alpha)
Mouse
Urusei Yatsura (And probably any show from 80th-90th, Ranma)
Campione
Dakara H dekinai
Denpa Kyoushi (Sort of)
Mahouka
Mondaiji-tachi
Rokka no Yusha
Rakudai kishi (Almost alpha)
To aru kagaku no railgun
Trinity seven
Busou renkin
Fight ippatsu juden chan (MC hitting girl with baseball bat so hard that she wet herself)
Lime iro senkitan
Myv-Luv (In Every universe MC is strong)
Nanatsu no taizai (almost harem)
Oretachi tsubasa ga nai
Akame ga kill (almost strong)
Akaneiro
Aldonah zero (NTR NTR)
Ao no 6-gou
Asura Cryin (but garbage)
Ayakashi
Battle Programmer Shirase (MC is not alpha but dis is good)
Berserk - this is harem now
Boku wa tomodachi
Code Geass
D.C.: Da Capo
DearS
Denpa-teki na Kanojo
Full Metal Panic!
Gantz
Gate
Golden Boy
GTO
Grisaia no Kajitsu
Hataraku Maou-sama!
Mao mao Yuusha
Heavy Object
Highschool of the Dead (Not sure if alpha)
Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari (And all tenichi universe, probably the strongest MC ever)
Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai (He is neet alpha)
Katanagatari (MC is a slut)
Kaze no Stigma (incest)
Kiseijuu
Kiss x Sis
Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate (alpha waves a lil bit)
Kure-nai
Macademi Wasshoi!
Major (Not harem but MC is the best representation of average irl Alpha)
Gundam seed and probably every gundam series, where romance exist
Ojisan to Marshmallow (He is alpha but he didn't realised it yet)
Oniichan no Koto nanka Zenzen Suki ja Nai n da kara ne
Overlord
Phantom
Photon
Princess Lover!
RahXephon
RE zero

Sekirei
Shingetsutan Tsukihime
Fate universe
Shokugeki no Souma
Shuffle!
Sword Art Online
Touka Gettan
Utawarerumono
White Album
Zero no Tsukaima

Because that would result in actual romance, which is harder to write than generic harem antics.

>Girl and guy become a couple relatively fast

Even that is done satisfyingly far roe rarely than you'd expect.

Love triangles aren't harems you fucking imbecile.

Name a single one that's actually worth watching.

>Railgun
Why did you list the spinoff?

Isn't that the whole point of a harem, to give multiple options so you can find one or two you do like?

Oh really?
Tell it to your advocate.

Because a harem about Bobby Thundercock dicking a slew of waifus would be a hentai series.

That or it would accidentally morph into a Sup Forumsorts show about baseball.

C&P
Miss

>Fate Universe
Everything about Shiro is pretty much the archetypical "normal beta guy becomes the strongest character ever".
He cooks and gets ordered around by everyone.
Moralfag.
Gets taken advantage of.
He's not even a trained magic user and he stands toe-to-toe with Archer and beats him.
Then he beats Gilgamesh.
And they turned King-motherfucking-Arthur into a girl just for the harem plot.

Comeon dude.

I mean, even then the T is alpha in a different sense than what they're looking for here. Shinobu is more the type of alpha they want even though anime never.

>checking replies
>being alpha means fucking everyone you meet
Come on Sup Forums.

and it's the same for Kirito in SAO as well. At the start he's like a NEET and his sister absolitely hates him. Until [plotdevice] and suddenly everything works out to the point where they mend their relationship and becomes a """real adult""" with a kid.

The only harem protag that was actually good was the one from Trinity Seven, He was funny and pretty alpha.

but the harem genre is a pile of irredeemable shit anyway

>normal beta guy
Get killed, ressurected, didn't give a damn goes with it, haven't got PTSD.
Filled servants and users with MANA.
He is the sertain alpha.
You can't be born alpha you learn and develop to be it.

>alpha/beta dichotomy
Insecure bullshit from another board.

>his sister absolitely hates him.
Not really, they were not close but they didn't hate each other either.
Thank you, someone had to say it.

>alpha/beta dichotomy doesn't exist

you're burying your head in the sand

no I mean how /u/fags are always delusional about characters in shows with no explicit lesbianism claiming "this character is a total player I bet she's fingering all the girls off screen," but they don't actually want to watch a show where it happens on screen because it upsets their sensibilities or something.

disgusting used goods

wouldn't even sell in a clearance sale

Sorry, I don't know this meme.

>no Trinity Seven
invalid list

If anything they don't want shows where the characters seem to be lesbian at first but it turns out they were actually straight all along.

Makes it harder to self-insert.
MC is supposed to be an idealized version of yourself. The only part of you that can really translate into 2D is your personality. If his personality is nothing like yours, you can't relate.

Plenty of those exist, just not as many because the harem fantasy isn't generally as appealing to girls.

You get fantasies of things you can't achieve in real life. Girls can easily achieve and keep a harem of guys at their call.

>Makes it harder to self-insert.
I don't know why this is even needed.
Fucking capitalism.

The kind of girl who likes anime probably can't.

If you don't self-insert unconsciously you don't belong here because it means you have a somewhat fulfilling life.

To be fair, the same can be said for guys who like anime as well.

Valid point.

Most guys wouldn't be ok with that though.

Isn't that just an Sup Forums meme?

And there's lots more guys like that, so following the original point there's more harem anime made for guys.

See girls get fucked -> you don't want to see another guy fuck your waifu -> merchandise won't sell as well as pure cute girls

I've been on Sup Forums for over ten years, I don't think I'll ever leave.

Boy I sure do love another /r9k/ thread where unironic weeaboos jerk each other off.

That's fine. You still don't belong here.

While I think anime is mainstream, I haven't met many people (esp Japanese) with real jobs and their own family who are my age and like anime.
Anime is a fantasy, an indulgence. Normies who have real-life shit won't be spending their free time on it.

What are you going to do about it besides crying? Honest question.

but I would totally be a harem master if I could show my true personality and not get arrested

Nothing. If I could do something I would've done it already.
It's ok though. Crying about it is good enough for me.

Normalfags like fantasy stuff though, it's just that anime is not a mainstream hobby and many people think cartoons are only for children.

It's got a lot more to do with self-awareness than having a fulfilling life (which I lack). Sadly not everyone that criticizes weeaboos is a "normalfag" or whatever boogeyman made up to leverage your feelings about your lifestyle being the right thing, especially when otaku are the reason this industry is keeps getting shittier by the year.

...

REMEMBER THE KING OF ALPHAS

NAME ANOTHER MC THAT HAS AN EQUAL OR BIGGER DICK THAN BASARA "Soda can thiccness" TOUJOU
Pro tip: you cannot if you don't mention hentai

They can, just not the hot ones.

Being self-aware doesn't stop me from desiring things I will never have. Intimacy in this case which I substitute for with haremshit.
If it does for you then good for you because you are more mature than me.

Unexpected reply, but I like it. Cheers.

There's fantasy, then there's ingratiating fantasy. There's stuff like LOTR which has all the adventuring, friendship, growth stuff. Aragorn is born a king and reliazes his rightful place and role int he world and the payoff is satisfying for people who watched him since the first movie when he was a ranger.
Then there's SAO, this no-life loser who becomes pretty much a god and matures into an adult with responsibilities """inside a videogame""". Can we take a moment to appreciate this?
And this having a kid bullshit sure is convenient when she (yes, otakus tend to like having kawaii daughters) is born practically a fully thinking child with none of the hard child raising stuff like waking up every hour when it cries, feeding it with breastmilk, changing diapers, watching it 24/7 when it's sleeping so it won't choke on its own tongue and when it's awake so it doesn't fall to its death.

You're right about how anime isn't mainstream hobby. The real gold is live-action, whether it's movies or drama series. The big-boy stuff breaks the bank.

not even half as good as the hagure yusha guy

It doesn't really matter.

What does matter however is if its a real harem or a pseudo harem where nothing happens. Does the MC do something with his harem like finally has sex with them? Do the heroines have personality? Do they get development before joining the harem and after becoming part of it? Do they have dissatisfaction with the harem or rather how do they cope with the whole polygamous relationship? Do they setup some sorta rules for themselves? How do they even enter MCs harem in the first place and how believable is it? Is it because MC is a "nice" guy(The worst thing that can happen in a harem) or a good looking macho chad etc.

I'd honestly feel better about the harem genre if the MC actually earned it instead of everything being handed to them.

Does that even happen in academy/battle harems? I don't think I remember one where the MC actually earned it.

Self-inserting is the shittiest part of this industry. It turns the most important person in the story into a bland, boring excuse of a character and halts any interesting, unusual or simply entertaining developments.

And the most disgusting part of it is the delusion that so called beta nice guys actually represent average viewers, while in reality being their exact opposites. Harem MCs are selfless, idealistic, pure, willing to take a risk for someone, hard-working, with strong sense of friendship, and genuinely kind towards girls - while the audience is full of selfish, cynical, jaded manchildren, unable to take any action, to self-improve, with warped perception of human relationships, viewing every girl as a walking sex toy.
This is the real pinnacle of escapism - not a harem of devoted cute girls, not a magical adventure in another world, but this whole "the MC is just like me!" delusion.

Generally everything being convenient and handed down to MCs for free is preferred by otakus since they've usually failed in a society since it's an anti-thesis to the work ethic+hard work which is really important.

MC is bland and boring because he is like the average viewer but then he is the opposite of the average viewer.
I'm not sure you thought this through?

Cause shows need to maintain a status quo

>MC is bland and boring because he is like the average viewer
Where does it say that?

If everyone won't be arrested, they will be welfare-leeching ass first though.

the idea that you have to earn a relationship is very unromantic. it implies that the girl is only with you as a reward for work done and that any feelings are dependent on value provided.

The MC being a blank slate and the self-insert audience thinking MC is just like them aren't correlated, apparently I misread. My bad.

I think you took the word "earn" way too literally, or you don't know how human relations work. Love at first sight is a farce.

This is true. Working is tough, getting everything you want without it is practically all the good feelings without the suffering.

I'm not going to judge you if you've never had a girlfriend as I've never had one either, but do you at least have/had friends?

Target audience for harem is people who failed at/ rejected human relations.

>the idea that you have to earn a relationship is very unromantic
On the contrary, bonds been formed out of nowhere with no sacrifices is what I'd call unromantic (and very idealistic)
