I just saw the film last night. I'm not sure how it's it ties into the culture war exactly. Poe Dameron was chastized for being trigger happy, and it was just funny. When the bridge was wrekt and the vice admiral (purple hair) took command they played her up to be a shit leader but she kind of turned the tables towards the end and kamikaze'd the abandoned ship into the imperial fleet.
