Anyone else think the bankai distribution was obviously unbalanced in Bleach? Some of the shittiest bankais and shikais (ice dragon, making everything upside down, etc.) belonged to supposedly strong captains and former captains, while there were vice captains with retardedly op powers. Only discernible pattern in bankais, if any can be said to exist, was that the earlier your bankai was exposed, the blander and shittier it was.

Kuchiki's bankai was stupid op, but most of the early bankai/shikais were plain shit.
>make several big knives
>sword becomes a long snake
>gundam
>a sensory deprivation tent
>large caterpillar???
>the earlier your bankai was exposed, the blander and shittier it was
Makes sense, due to power creep and all that.
yes...
power levels in bleach only made sense if you only look at the current arc
if you start comparing strength between arcs they dont make any sense
Anyone else hate how bleach went from a comfy anime about Ichigo protecting his town with his super powered friends to an overly dramatic dbz with swords?
things sure went downhill after soul society arc
maybe the anime should have ended there. Dropping the whole aizen thing and ichigo going back to the real world with rukia
They ramped up too quickly. SS arc should have been straight up snatch n grab instead of ichigo curbstomping everybody except the captains. Their not being an over-arching goal really hurt the series as a whole
This, they should have had the captains be something so powerful that they had absolutely no chance of beating them, so they had to run away or find other options. Maybe have Ichigo beat one captain at the very end.
Also, what the fuck is the deal with Chad? He's a cool character, but he serves absolutely no purpose. Even during the fullbringer bullshit, he goes back to doing nothing right after introducing ichigo to the group.
>make several big knives
Who dis?
They really could have handeled Aizen better after soul society arc and his ambitions and way to go about them. I think the main problem was that we got to see it from his perspective too often. They should have made him a more ominous figure after his ascension and only shown us the effects of his meddling.
Ikkaku probably
What everyone agrees should have happened is Ichigo starts working to overthrow the corrupt soul society after seeing what it's like there.
Imagine if it was Aizen and Ichigo vs the Soul Society instead of Ichigo and the Soul Society vs Aizen.
>tfw seriously thought this was going to happen
SS was just plain weird.
>>large caterpillar???
>im-fucking-plying
Aizen was too likeable to be a villain. Atleast to be the kind of villain that Kubo wanted him to be
Hey, don't talk shit about mayuri, but yeah, bankais went from very bland (ichigo and soi fon) to downright broken, i mean, how in the hell can you beat Kyoraku without an asspull, it doesn't help that despite the supposed experience they used them like retards (Tousen)
Kyoraku still doesnt make sense to me
Yeah Mayuri's bankai was still pretty special just for the whole poison and blades release, not counting of course the modifications Mayuri put later.
Why didnt tousen have a normal back-up weapon for when he used his bankai? Considering how the opponent could negate the effects of his bankai by touching the hilt of his weapon. The moment he used his bankai, his sword is just a sword.
If you actually think Daiguren Hyourinmaru is one of the weaker bankais in Bleach, you've already fucked up.
I seriously wish this is what happened, although I don't know if I'd ally Ichigo with Aizen though- he still wanted to destroy most of the people Ichigo cared about.
Is there any good fanfiction with that Ichigo vs corrupt soul society premise though?
Stop forcing bleach threads.
Nothing special is gonna happen until 2018.
>Nothing special is gonna happen until 2018.
The second novel is out in a few months.
Best captains bankai is shittier than her shikai
>soifon
>best captain
pick one
Then fuck off till then.
That "I never said the countdown was for the Bankai wearing off" reveal.
>Toushirou doesn't like being treated like a kid
>doesn't like his handsome young man form either
What does this faggot want?
Respect but all he gets is bullying.
Not even Hinamori seemed to be all that impressed with his grown form.
to be in a better series
It can freeze concepts.
>Imagine if it was Aizen and Ichigo vs the Soul Society instead of Ichigo and the Soul Society vs Aizen.
unf
Bleach sucks. Bankai sucks. Everyone unanimously agree that the only real highlight in Bleach was Kenpachi who just said "fuck all that shit" and fought like a man.
>Everyone unanimously agrees
This is the biggest bullshit the series probably ever pulled
Throughout the entire manga Hitsugaya has been spamming his bankai non-stop and is constantly losing to his opponents
But suddenly I power up because that's not a timer to power down even though he constantly rushes to finish his opponents before the countdown ends
If he had such a trump card then did he never use it until that point?
With all the bullshit that happened to Hinamori because of Aizen trolling you'd think he would pull out his trump card against Aizen
He doesn't like how it looks.
Worst bankai was squad 4 captain. She went went from healing waif us to edgy grim dark bitch. This corresponds to going from a cool healing manta ray to a shitty knife sword.
He hadn't mastered his Bankai before the timeskip, he could barely control it.
Its a pun.
The only things that keep the epilogue from smoothly fitting after Aizen's defeat are Ichigo having his powers and Yhwach's return.
He eyes look big.
>lol I had bankai the whole time but didn't use it. This isnt an asspull I swear.
It's a shame/good thing Orihime's boobs weren't in that frame because I would have made a corny joke about her rack in this reply.
It's surely an asspull. But it fits just so goddamn well with the whole diviision hiding their powers and enormous loyalty they have for Zaraki, that it's easy to stomach it. The scene itself being awesome certainly helps, too.
It was the shittiest bankai anyway, breaks easily and we are told that broken ones cannot be restored. Its basically a one time use for when your life is in danger, which wasn't the case for when he fought Ichigo.
This Senpai. I liked his human friends anyway
i too like the slice of life monster of the week but i dont think kubo had it in him to write a slice of life story which kind of sucks as he had good character designs. After soul society everyone started looking similar but originally he had some good stuff.
Power creep during soul society arc was too much he should of not been able to go toe to toe with a lieutenant yet he solos 2 captains. Could of had a ton more world building and visited more then the same town, society, and a desert.
Bleach and Naruto both wasted potential they started off very strong but had fan fic type endings.
shikai - children games translated to fighting, opponent and him have equal chances, it depends on their strategy
bankai - theater play translated to pure murder, opponent is really fucked as everything they did comes back to bite them in the ass and then they drown in misery unless they somehow have more energy than Kyoraku or are an immortal god
*sploosh
What was up with the first division vice captain, is he a joke character
Alright, how would you guys fix/balance the shitty powers
He was a VERY minor character who's only plot point was to show that people were going to die in the 1000 Year Blood War. That's why we never really saw him whatsoever for more than 2 panels a time.
He was more of a plot device than a character as he lacked any real personality. Even when they went into Yamamoto's flashback, it was more geared towards Yamamoto than his vice captain.
Bleach was far more better written than Naruto though. Naruto relied on that part 2 to a point of it's own detriment.
Bleach had 4 good arcs and two bad ones. (Pre-Reaper, Soul Society, Arrancar: Hueco Mundo and 1000 Year Blood War.)
Hell, see image as to why the 1000 Year Blood war seemed very strong for at least 75% of the time till the rushed ending.
I dunno, I feel like Blood War crossed the line between "plot twists" and "flagrant bullshit".
>Only discernible pattern in bankais, if any can be said to exist, was that the earlier your bankai was exposed, the blander and shittier it was.
Except that Mayuri's Bankai was the first Bankai and that was pretty unique with the giant poison baby monster. It got curbstomped the first time because Uryu used his final Quincy release form on it to establish that the Quincies were stronger.
Then Komamura's bankai (giant samurai) was used to defeat a low ranking Arrancar and completely decimate Bambietta DESPITE being cut off camera in Soul Society Arc.
Then there is Byakuya's Bankai that was really good and only lost to someone ONCE in the entire Part 1. He lost against once in part 2 with As Nodt, but regained it back again.
Earlier bankais were not bland, it was just specific Bankai were not very good like Tousen's Bankai or Hitsugiya's Bankai.
If that was the case, then people would not be asking for the anime to come back, they would not have created that list of things that were awesome (with some little bullshit moments), and the manga would not have gotten to 20 volumes and sold 500,000 to 450,000 copies on average a weekend.
I accept your other points but much worse things than Bleach have sold big
In the past 4 years of Bleach's final arc there were only a handfull that sold either equal to or more than Bleach.
One Piece
Naruto
Assassination Classroom
Haiyukuu
Singeki No Soma
That is only 25% of the average 20 manga that are printed out in Shonen Jump.
What I'm getting at is that Bleach's sales don't mean it's remotely good
It still means that hundreds of thousands of people were still sticking by the manga despite Shonen Jump's spiteful attempts to devalue the series.
12 hour Bleach OVA with an original ending when?
Ichigo not once lusting over Rukia is an offence of the highest degree against her beauty and an embarrassment to all Men for sharing a gender with a pussy like him.
to get fucked in the ass by Ichigo
She doesn't even have boobs
I thought we had a more updated version of that image.
I know, right? He's so blind.
That's nostalgia goggles
Ichigo very quickly escelated to something beyond protecting his home town.
You started to see it with grand fisher, then as soon as ishida showed up it was over.
It was never as comfy as Sup Forums remembers it. They just literally hate shonen tropes, and bleach started out with low key tropes that Sup Forums didn't notice were tropes (mc life changed by platonic female from another world, mc is a punk with a soft heart, mc gets his power from someone else)
I guarantee that most people who feel bleach was "comfy" at the start haven't been watching anime prior to 1999.
Tousens bankai was phenomenal.
Only a freak like zaraki or maybe a genius like mayuri could have survived it.
Tousens bankai is basically stealth assasination.
Even other bankais would have been largely useless, except of course Yamamoto, and those who might be so large it would break. But bankais aren't meant to fight against bankais.
But that's what Aizen wants.
I have to confess that I enjoyed the Bleach Abridged quite a bit.
Where isn't there? HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAA
ahaha thanks for reminding me shinji didn't do jack shit
i'm so glad kubo will never get work in the manga industry ever again
Keep telling yourself that...
>enjoyed
>past tense
There was a new episode last week. It was pretty fun.
No man in Isshin's lineage would consider courting a woman without a nice set of hooters.
Reminder.
2013 net worth
kishimoto - $20 million
toriyama - $45 million
kubo - $50 million
No wonder they stopped supporting bleach, kubo is making too much money.
It's probably a Shiba thing, as evidenced by Kuukaku and Karin.
He is an oppai man, he needs meat, something that rukia lacks, don't get me wrong, rukia is cute, just not the cute ichigo is looking for
Why else do you think he worked for Ikumi?
I can respect his choice.
Ikkaku had the shittiest Shikai of all, and his Bankai was just plain pathetic. I'm pretty sure even Chad could beat him.
Nah, even without his Bankai Ikkaku simply outskills Chad, he's had way more combat experience and it shows in each of his fights.
Nah.
Simply because SS was good. Hey, it was what made Bleach really successfull and part of the so called Big 3.
The problems came afterwards, since Kubo had no fucking idea what to do next.
I rather miss old Ichigo.
He was fun and even a break from "dumb shounen MC", too.
Later he was just the guy who rushed in at the end and wins.
Just realising that Bleach is bullshit? Whew too you long enough. Kubo was literally just making shit up on the spot after soul society.
Blood War was an atrocity and killed Bleach for good.
The Aizen war was bad, but it properly concluded things.
Please read the thread.
It's funny how many (me included) thought it was the opposite - that Kubo introduced the mysterious Vizards, tons of (seemingly) super-strong arrancars, brought Tatsuki back to the table with her finding out Ichigo was a Shinigami, having something in mind. Heck, even "the last quincy" Ryuuken and Uryuu's vow. We expected some kind of multi-factioned conflict, character development, some goal.
Turns out he was just introducing all these characters like crazy to deal with writer block.
I don't mean it's bad thing, not everything has to be planned. It's a shame though he wasn't able to properly handle them.
Kind of agree. The "Doubling everything's weight" bankai was pretty OP considering you can defeat anyone just by touching them, but it was given to what was at most a secondary character.
Liked it as a kid, but now compared to dbz and naruto its boring and the shit they wear is a bit lame.
Chad beat a Privaron Espada with little effort, Ikkaku could barely defeat a Fraccion and got his ass handed to him by another Fraccion's BASE FORM. And now that Ikkaku's Bankai is broken, he's even weaker.
We never got to see this niggers bankai, but it's probably for the best.
By that point Kubo was so checked out it probably would've been a giant lightning rod that shit bees or something.
digging these manga/anime evaluation videos
And Part 2, not on his channel
youtube.com
is this the final chart or did some anons go all the way to the final chapter with a chart update?
That was a Shikai
Power levels among Fraccion are inconsistent, but all of the Arrancar created using the Houyoku are stronger than those who were not. Defeating a Privarron Espada isn't actually a very big deal, while some Fracction are Captain level or higher.
Even Renji likes oppai. She just happened to win his heart before he realizes that.
