Honestly? Yes i enjoyed it despite the dumb hamster plot, mostly because the crew had some fun interactions.

That bieng said i wish most of the seconday characters were more fleshed out but what can you do with a big cast like that and only 13 episodes.

Not really. I was expecting desperate cat-and-mouse play with dramatic reveal that Captain Mike was setup by the school or something but instead got cgdct that wasn't even that good.

It was one of the best selling shows of it's season and merch sold really good.

Yes, it was dumb but it didn't feel off for me because I wasn't expecting the show to go as dark as people wanted it to early on.
And neat, can't wait for the OVA. I'm afraid of asking for a second season though because I don't think they have figured out how to get carbon-coated ships for GuP-style team battles yet and even more hamsters would be weird.

I don't care about the hamsters at this point. It was just a dumb plot device to have the Harekaze fight other ships. And the confrontations were hype.
But it's definitely a retarded thing that dragged down the anime overall.

Haifuri was the best animated show of IMS with just a few QUALITY show from long distances.

it did have some pretty good action scenes, but they predictably used CGI for boats and water, so they probably had a lot of budget left for the rest.

I guess they still need more money. Maybe that's why they've been away for one year and they're only making 2 episodes of an already aired series that sold well.

Oh I just read that. It's airing on tv before releasing it in bd form. There's nothing on when the second OVA airs though.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were doing this as a way to announce season 2 after it airs.

Nothing else fits TORIKAJI IPPAI better than that, though.
