Teachers have just as much, outside of the last week or two of august when they have various organisational stuff to do at school, but still - obligatory 1,5 month during summers, at least a week on Christmas to New Year period, every single weekend and a lot more. Sure, it requires some work after you leave school(grading exams etc. etc.) but they often get their kids to do this for them(I'm not even kidding you - I knew a lot of teacher's kids when I was at school). Take even slight amount of all that free time from them and you start seeing more men pouring into teaching jobs - there was much more male teachers(proportionally speaking) back in communist times here in Poland because only sunday was free.
