It's cute, simple and fun, it doesn't need to be anything more. Also, Japanese people love cute anthropomorphizations, which are the entire focus of this show.

I didn't understand the popularity so I skipped a couple to see what was going on.

To be fair, the first episode did sort of suck in comparison to every other episode.

It was a rather clunky first episode, and the animation was rather weak. It wasn't god awful, but it wasn't great either.

It's not that it sucked, it did a decent job at presenting the setting and it followed the same pattern as the other episodes. It's just that every following episode so far has been better than the previous one.

what hooked me on is the setting and the implication is that its set on a post apocalyptic far future where human civilization is gone but robots and animals are still around

so basically im interested as fuck to know what the fuck is going on and the cute animal segments are a bonus
