No he's dead, notice we saw no spirit of Kuriboh, just a hologram. And the hologram didn't interact with Jaden like Winged Kuriboh always did. It's just a normal card that Jaden still treats as a spirit because of his old spirit friend

A combination of things. First, Neo Spacians are weak monsters with very circumstantial effects. Summoning one in attack mode is asking for the opponent to take your life points unless you have another card to baby it. Grand Mole is the only good one.
Second, the Fusions have the completely horrible effect of only lasting one turn and needs a field spell to prevent this which is absolutely ridiculous since none of them are good enough to warrant that nerf.
Third, Neo is a two-tribute normal monster with no reliable to special summon and only 2500 ATK.
Fourth and worst, they kept making stupid shit for the Neo-Spacians like Chrysalis cards and that one upgrade to dolphin.
Also, Neos Wiseman ended up not being a Fusion Monster for some completely retarded reason.
