Reminder that if you've not seen at least the majority of these, you're not qualified to discuss anime and you should go back to lurking.
WMT
Why do you have to start a WMT thread with bait like that user? Can't we all just get along?
...
>WMT thread
>on Sup Forums
Good luck with that.
99% of the millennials posting here that have seen nothing made before 1995 should be educated first.
Sara sucks.
t. Lavinia
I'm glad I haven't seen any of those.
obvious bait desu
Why?
Why bait?
>muh nostalgia
go fuck yourself faggot, these are all shit
Hipster
Is it a good idea to watch any of these without having read their source material first?
Obviously. Most of those novels were forgotten decades ago.
I was mostly thinking of Mark Twain when I posted that. But yeah, a lot of the other ones are kind of obscure.
Tom Story is one of the loosest adaptions there, there's material from both Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn and plenty of original stuff.
But Little Women was trash.
I haven't watched a single one of those.
It's one of those things men will never understand.
Stop posting then.
Who gives a fuck about grandpanime?
Direct to VHS tier more like it.
Shame, user. What would Grumpy Jii-san say?
"Best part about the past is that it's over"
Heidi is part of every good german childhood. Nobody here knows its from Japan though
I've posted this last time too but these are literal children's cartoons with an awful budget and artsryle. They're also poorly adapted novels and you really have no reason not to read the novels instead. Fuck off with your reposted thread. You will always be wrong.
Same in Italy, only Anne is almost as popular.
And you were already proven wrong last thread, so why repost, moron?
You're not even addressing my point, a simple 'no you' is only proving your unwillingness to contribute
Bacause I already did. The character animation and background art put even most shows airing today to shame, let alone what was on air in the seventies.
And very few of those novels are masterpieces of literature. On their adaptions on the other hand worked some of the greatest artists to ever grace the japanese animation industry, in many cases the anime surpass the novels.
>Princess Sarah, Tom Sawyer, Annette
Nice I liked them.
What's the 4th one in Great tier ? I don't remember the name.
Dezaki's Treasure Island.
I haven't watched any of these but I'm willing to give it a try.
Which one of these has the most loli fanservice?
Oh thanks, this was cool.
Stick with your Kyoani shit please.
I haven't seen any of them either, but for the sake of amusement I'm gonna guess Anne of Green Gables.
Nope.
These all look boring as fuck child fantasy stories. Go back to your LWC
Where are Chiisana Viking Vickie and Romeo no Aoi Sora?
Ie Naki Ko is not WMT. Ie Naki Ko Remi is. The 1977 version is Dezaki. Educate yourself.
Also, Akage no Anne is best WMT entry, yes. But most people here are too young or to stupid to watch something like Akage no Anne.
i've seen k-on, yuri yuri and re zero instead
your point?
I've got most of them torrented, some are a bitch to find though.
>Y-your anime is s-sh-shit!!!
>at least the majority
Only Heidi, Anne and Marco are essential. There are some other fine ones, but they're lesser works.
If you looked at it properly you would have noticed that half of the series in the chart are proto-WMT or WMT knock-offs. And the 1996 series is at the bottom where it belongs.
>if you don't feel like watching these 50 ancient anime about some boring ass kids prancing around in a field, you shouldn't be posting in a board that discusses flavor of the month shows
>I only know of Takahata
You don't say.
I haven't seen a single one
but you keep watching those modern garbage anime made in last 20 years that are all the same shit and use the same tropes and cliches over and over? Ok.
Or rather, only Takahata's are important / good enough to be considered mandatory viewing.
Dezaki is easily as important and influential as Takahata, even if the west has yet to notice it.
Remi isn't WMT, I didn't really take it into consideration.
>most
Isn't an argument, either address my point or fuck off
Hi is this the new masturbate station? Sign me up for next year.
But I've watched a lot of classics. Fuck off with your pseudo-elitism.
I watch anime to have fun on Sup Forums and with my friends. I don't have any illusions about it being good, it's almost always just recreational entertainment. People like OP take anime way too seriously.
Hey.
Anne of Green Gables was a nice adaption. So fuck you fairyfag.
I haven't seen a single one of those, and I most likely never will. That Les Miserables girl looks pretty cute though so might check that one out.
And whats your point? There is a thousand times more anime being produced today than in the 70s so obviously the mean quality is much lower. You dont need to watch a majority of those titles in order to discuss anime. Maybe like 3-5. Also not sure how you can have Heidi not in God tier when its basically responsible for keeping WMT going
Does he fuck the deer?
Dezaki's Remi wasn't WMT.
The only anime from OP's list that I've currently seen was Princess Sara and I own the novel too. It definitely made me feel some things I wasn't expecting to feel and that makes me slightly hesitant to watch a lot of these older series. Back in this time period, anime didn't really hold any punches even though these are considered 'for children' and the execution was often better than modern anime so it had more impact. I just don't want to finish each episode either crying or feeling depressed, y'know?
What made it 'nice' in your words?
Treasure Island is Dezaki as well
You don't deserve to talk about anime if you think it's just recreational entertainment not made to be taken seriously and not a legitimate art form in which creators have shed their blood, sweat and tears to make, often through passion rather than commercial benefit. Japanese animation in particular is the front-runner of commercial animation worldwide as far as creativity and artistic talent go. Historical precedence is indeed a serious factor in studying any art form and anyone who is truly serious about anime should be aware of that. Too many times have I stumbled upon ignorant fans who don't know the source of the Toei logo and it is frankly outrageous.
Haven't seen any, don't plan too. Fight me bitch.
Get off Sup Forums ken sama
I love WMT but don't bait like that, OP. I don't want assholes to ruin WMT threads.
Anyone like Shoujo Cosette though? Jean Valjean and Javert were too based for anime characters.
People have died creating anime, people have undergone severe depression and contemplated suicide after working with Miyazaki. An apathetic edgelord who likely pirates everything and has the teenage "everything is shit" mentality will never understand art. They are just disgusting pigs.
Cosette is a great tier not a good tier.
The adaptation is fantastic as long as you get the HD version.
Ok ken we get it, turbovirgin.
bump
Just post the titles so I can actually watch these, dickhead.
