They supposedly didn't even have permission to use that song.

YOU COMPLETE MUH FATE

Paranoid Android?

This is 3D you fuckwad

He was being ironic you idiot

Yeah. It wouldn't surprise me if manglobe went bankrupt from being sued for that.

from wikia
>Initially, Radiohead did not approve of the use of their music, but agreed for "Paranoid Android" to be included after they were shown a preview of the anime.
It looks like they weren't going to use it unless they had permission anyway.

I think Japan flaunts Western copyright laws a lot
Either way, more actual real popular music in anime can only be a good thing

Imagine a world where copyright laws didn't exist. Ideas would be like a big bank for anyone to use as they want. We would have fictional characters transcend their work and become cultural icons, like gods or something.

Why can't we have more anime with good music instead of this jpop trash

Who are you to criticize another culture? Jpop has as much artistic merit as radiohead.

Radiohead is better though :^ )

it's really unfortunate, anime studios need to watch more Scorsese, or The Sopranos, a well timed music cue makes magic happen.

Because that jpop trash is cheap, it's not much higher up than commercial jingles in price, or usually quality. Then even if a studio wants to spend more on the music they would often be shooting themselves in the foot to buy western songs(by alienating their audience) so instead they just offer more money to hire higher quality Japanese artists.

>pop has artistic merit
Maybe but it's still 99% for money and only 1% for art.

>they just offer more money to hire higher quality Japanese artists.
Aren't there enough Japanese artists who aren't popular and don't do the same boring music

Fishmans is the only Japanese band that I know of that is on par with high quality western music. They were even referenced in Detroit Metal City, which by the way was a great anime with good music.

Why would a studio offer a bunch of money to hire someone who isn't popular? Besides that a lot of anime is rather formulaic, and the music is as well. Studios are afraid of breaking the formula.

I wish Fishmans and Satoshi Kon were still around to collaborate on some amazing acid trip movie experience

I like them breaking formulas. I liked what they did with Aku no Hana. Everyone else seemed to hate it though.

Remind me what they did with Aku no Hana. All I remember was the bad art style.

>All I remember was the bad art style.
That and the ED song basically. The plot wasn't formula as well.
