Would you be okay to have more actual gay couples in your anime? (no yuri/yaoi pandering)

Would you be okay to have more actual gay couples in your anime? (no yuri/yaoi pandering)

Only if the narrator points out that they will have a sad and hopeless future and that they are not going to heaven, every time they make out.

>heaven
It doesn't exist son

you dont exist.

But that one was yuri pandering.

who's talking to you then m8?

an automated program.

No it's not, yuri pandering is them not being a confirmed couple, and just being given hints and fanservice shots of them together

There's already enough faggots in anime

Eh, they're not exactly a couple. Just friends with benefits.

nah

I say straight girl kissing other girls count as pandering. Moe was legit but Mari was a slut.

Yes. Straight people ruin everything, including anime

actual confirmed faggots no.
You must be thinking about fojo pandering

>it's not pandering if the characters are actually gay
That's now how it works, you fucking faggot. You're thinking of "baiting," not "pandering."

still not pandering. Samurai flamenco didn't want to attract people just because of moe and marie

>AI learned to embrace the lord, why haven't you?

Well it's really said if gay characters existing is just "pandering". That's just sending the message that they're objects to be fapped over by people who see them as bad and unnatural and thus, exciting, and actual queer people don't exist

sad***

>sending the message that they're objects to be fapped over
But they are

Anime is sending 24/7 the message that women are objects to be fapped over and you don't see women throwing a tantrum because of it (western SJW do, but they are fucking retarded and should be ignored).

they're not

Real and actual confirmed couples? Not really. I can't see how it would add anything significant to the show, unless it's a romance anime and focused around it.
If they're going to add extra fags I rather see them adapt more BL.

it wouldn't add anything but it wouldn't take anything either.. I'm asking if you would be okay, not if you want it.
Like, would you mind?

BL is pandering so no.

Prove it.

Yes. Hetro couples are dull and not as exciting. Not saying they are bad. Same sex just has new dynamics that haven't been throughly explored enough yet. Soon, it'll be over saturated and become boring as well, but until then it's interesting and I want to see more.

Pic unrelated but best hetro dynamic.

All anime is pandering retard.
It would in fact take, you'd be wasting precious screentime on characters that add nothing. Just focus on the plot then, I don't watch anime to identify with faggot or feel represented. Go watch american media if you need that.

Most people would mind if they mind fujo/u-fag pandering.
Because yes, adding in a gay couple is automatically pandering.
I remember a manga I read once had a side yuri couple that just ruined the manga for me.
You're basically asking if people if they like homosexuality, and there is only two answers to that: yes or no.
If they answer yes then they're a fag or a tolerant SJW.
If they answer no then their a bigot Sup Forumstard.

>not posting the ACTUAL gay couple from SamFlam

I really really really miss SamFlam Thursdays.

Don't make me post you-know-who, m8

Test

What.

One of the most cancerous anime I've seen.

I'm not excited by them but I don't mind them. I don't use them to fap

it's the same thing though. It's just that they have the same sex. The dynamic can be the same

>tongue kissing Moe directly after throwing up
Marie was a fucking cunt. Moe deserved better.

To answer your question. I'd like more yuri and yaoi couples but only if they are not the main focus of the story. In the sense that romance is not the main focus of the story. Ideally, something like Code Geass season one tier quality, but with gay main couple.

No garbage like Citrus where every named character series is gay. That's just stupid and asinine.

Its pandering you cunt

One of the girls was obsessed with a dude, she just kisses the other girl for fun

What about hetrosexuality or romance in general? I've read several manga (Or any media for that matter) that I felt would have been better if they didn't force a love interest into the story. Love interests, gay or not, are only good if the characters actually have a connection with each other and they affect the main plot of the story.

In the end, It's just another element of entertainment.

It beats couples that never do fucking anything

Not when they bring obnoxious western fans talking about anime "progressiveness" and "representation".

I'd rather see friendship without subtle hints of something else.

You're right about romance in general. I can think of a few stories that would have been better off not ever bringing it up.

Where is the proof?

Yeah, this is the best option. Real close friendships are even more rare too.

>Go watch american media if you need that.
I'm not gay but why does it have to be american? I mean, you're supposed to identify a little to some characters in story, that's the basic in litterature too. They some gays want to watch anime, and it happens to feature a gay couple, secondairy characters or not, that's not a bad thing. American shows suck anyway. And gays exist in japan too.
I never understood that logic.

It's not exactly the same thing because of the social structure of male and female roles are twisted around. A guy and a girl wrestling on the bed then locking eyes while going doki doki is a moment we expect because they are opposite genders. Audience is like "duh. Of course that would happen." If two guys or two girls do the same, it becomes more of a suprise because it's not the norm. Then you wonder "who's top? Who's bottom? Do they switch? How will the rest of world view them?" Questions that don't usually come up if it was a guy and girl. It adds a small element of mystery and excitement.

Because there's a shitload of american media that does exactly what you want. Anime is not the place for this, you want it to give you something it won't so there's no point.

I would be okay if it mean we don't have that annoying stereotype of gay men like pic related.
Not that I hate him but I don't like this type of character. Homo pervert with make up

Mari is an Asuka rip-off, what did you expect?

>no yuri pandering
You do know that yuri's target audience is female, right?

>gay characters existing is just "pandering"
It can be, or it can not be, nigger.

> That's just sending the message that they're objects to be fapped over
It's called fanservice. Take your "but muh message!" bullshit back to tumblr.

This. I'd rather have no romance than a dumb one.

>Anime is not the place for this
Why. Anime is just a medium like others. Some manga have gay couples that aren't at the center of the story and isn't yuri/yaoi genre. Why couldn't they do the same for anime huh?
It's not impossible. Anime has no restriction as a medium. It's like saying anime can't portray caucasians, latinos, can't be set in america or whatever

i wouldn't mind as long as their sole purpose of existence isn't being gay. it shouldn't be their defining characteristic, but it can make characters more interesting.

also fuck yuri baiting

I am not opposed to gay characters, as long as they (or the autors) are not faggots about it.
Think Talhand of MT or that gay guy from Tiger & Bunny. They were just gay and that's it. The viewer was not reminded of it every ten seconds/lines and it was not made into forced drama.

>Hetro couples are dull and not as exciting.
>Same sex just has new dynamics that haven't been throughly explored enough yet.

Are you serious?

>If two guys or two girls do the same, it becomes more of a suprise because it's not the norm.

That is indicative enough of how its going to go before the whole locking eyes moment.

marco in attack on titan is gay and it didn't disturbed the story

...

>this whole post
You do not belong here.

hivemind

>Anime is just a medium like others
It's the medium of a distant people who are in a lot of ways insulated and disconnected from the rest of the world. It operates on national terms and practises which are independent of foreign opinions.

Whether or not it's used for any specific agenda is up to the japanese, no body else.

Ironically manga is extremely progressive compared to the rest of their society when it comes to representing sexual minorities but since this is a shitposting thread lets ignore that.

I mean relationships without the usual tropes are fucking boring, I even find normal couples fucking boring

yes please

...

Are you for real? Where did this come from?

yeat japanase is becomming mre open about it. More march for the gay community are organised so it could happen in the future. If it does, I'm asking if people would mind or just be okay

Hajime's twitter a while ago. Westerners were asking him the same question over and over.
He's quite progressive for a mangaka anyway

Anime is a money making medium. There's no money in making something to make you feel better about being a fag.
How other niche demographics do you see portrayed? Practically none. And when they do it's as fanservice, not an actual meaningful character.

Stick with manga if you need something to validate your life choices, anime won't do it for you.

Anyone think there is too much gay shit in anime and manga?

I would be ok with if they were contained in the own genres, but they keep spilling out into straight media

See

Romance is boring unless the two characters want to kill each other or have really good chemistry. That's why I don't like official couples, 99% of the time they are the worst fucking combination possible.

You are correct but let's face it, this argument is pointless.

Regular yuri is too mainstream these days....needs more age gap stuff.

regular yuri is baiting though. In these recent anime, no yuri couples were confirmed

>straight media
No anime is marketed as "straight" though. What is straight anime? Basic shojo romance? Are anime without romance straight? even if it doesn't protray any sexuality?

>no yuri couples were confirmed
I'm sorry you didn't watch Flip Flappers.

Here's the thing. The people already crying about "pandering" or "yuribaiting" will just keep complaining about pandering anyways. If you introduce a hardcore gay couple they will just say, what's the purpose other than to push a SJW agenda? Why do they need to be so gay? It's all pandering to /lgbt/ REEEEEE etc.
Most of these people are just obnoxious shitters who are pretending they care about authenticity when in fact they just hate the underlying substance.
On the other hand, if you are okay with "actual" gay couple to begin with then why do you care if their relationship is not so determined? Why do you care if they are 100% gay or 50% gay or perhaps not gay? The authors make the characters what they are and it's their artistic freedom. If you don't like it just don't watch it.

ah, I did, meh. I guess it was. Still, papika was lke "I loved you since you were a baby", which is weird. No kiss, and we don't know if they are in an actually romantic relationship after this. Are they dating? We don't know

Everything that isnt labeled as girls love/boys love and does not contain any kind of bait of these genres

flip flap was more "young girl exploring sexuality coming-of-age" type deal, don't think it is confirmed in the actual anime

From the director himself

>Is there anything you’re particular about with regards to yuri?
>Oshiyama: I’m actually not very knowledgeable about it. However, in talking with Ayana I think I got a good grasp of “things you shouldn’t do” and “lines you shouldn’t cross” when it comes to yuri. That said, I maybe broke the rules a little on episode seven. That episode features various personalities of Papika, and some of them are rather boyish. Thinking about the yuri perspective, I figured it wouldn’t be good to pair Cocona with a boy her age, so originally I had Papito and Papiya with female bodies too... but Takashi Kojima wanted to make them boys (laughs), so they ended up more male in places. My initial sketches of Papiwo, too, included a sarashi wrapped around her chest as a “definitely still a girl” signal. Also, in episode 8 there’s a boy their age, Occhan, who shows up; I made him a little shorter so he wouldn’t be at eye level with Cocona and the others.

I'm gay so yes I'd be fine with it. It ain't profitable though. The only reason why you see that shit in the west is because the West doesn't just prioritize profit they prioritize agendas.
No one wants to watch the gays except for the gays and some women and even then women will alway prefer the female self insert character romance over the gay one.
Honestly I don't really want gay characters popping up randomly in muh anime but I think it would be nice to have a well done gay romance anime. The only reason I'd like it (other than the fact that I am a dick sucker) is that I think they'd approach it in a way that the West doesn't (just like the way they approach romance in general) and I think that would be interesting.

Also baiting vs. confirmed does not matter. It doesn't make that shit any less annoying. Oh and I don't like you.

You have a point.

>and even then women will alway prefer the female self insert character romance over the gay one.
Jesus, you have no idea what you're talking about.

I do the difference with "gays" like in Hibike and real gay. I mean, people who are actually said to be gay, not shown like "they look guys, you like girl on girl action right? here's some fanservice".
It's bad if doing something not done often it considering having a SJW agenda. So you can't make an anime about latinos? You can't make an anime with black people as protag?

Would afro samurai be considered as SJW agenda if it came out in 2017? That's just an exemple but it seems like everuthigng is pandering now.
I don't see how portrayong more peole is a bad thing.

Please show me the profit margins of straight romance focused shoujo manga vs gay fujo manga

Don't you have shoujo anime bombing every season while fujo are almost always reasonanly successful

Sure.

>Oh and I don't like you.
That was petty. What did I do to you m8?

Just a reminder.

>883

How can one browse the chans and not be able to see clear pandering and agendas in the media you consume?
Anyway tell me one good reason to have a gay anime westerner.

>Hibike
>they look guys, you like girl on girl action right? here's some fanservice
You mean the novel that was created by a women for young girls and whose "yuri" scenes were enhanced in the anime by another woman?

Do you think girls who watch fujo anime are actually attracted to gay couples? Cause I don't
They like it for the same reason that guys like Yuri
It has nothing to do with romance and everything to do with cute guys
A legitimate gay romance anime will always do worse than the straight romance
There is no market for it
Gay romance will stay where it belongs (in manga)

You made this thread

>for the same reason that guys like Yuri

not necessarily westerners, but also gays in japan.
I don't know, do something new. Anyway, my question wasn't about "should we have more gays" it' just that, anime might do like manga and feature more gays, in that case would Sup Forums be okay.
There's no use in romange in general beside making the characters more human and fleshed out. And some people are infact, gay so a character could be in a gay just like he could be in a hetero relationship. that's it. Add layers to a character.

And at the same time killing all of Shuu's development in favor of anime original scenes right? They were either playing dumb or had no idea how relationships worked. Heck the scriptwriter said shuu and kumiko understood each other better than lovers with the fist bump scene. And yet in season 2 they were no where close to that.

I'm pretty sure that your average BL sells better than your average shoujo romance anime.

Don't mind people like that, honestly. Ignorant people think politics is only sexuality when it extends too all facets of society and will see a pandering agenda in anything if they want to. Mecha anime or anime about war have politics and often have xenophobia themes in them too but people are fine with it without sperging out.

>Implying woman can't do fanservice
There's not a couple, that's it but the anime baited
