The one issue I had with the flashback in the manga is that the chapters were too short so it was longer than it should be. Otherwise, the content was good.

It's not entirely pointless. In the episode, they talk about how whatsherface can't hit the two of them because they'll revert to their old selves again. In the SP, they show her hit them the first time, which makes them revert back. I thought it was interesting
