Author's name is Carlo Zen. Might just be a pen name, but if he isn't Japanese I do wonder what he is? Going through his twitter is pretty fun though.

Well, he's a native speaker/writer of Japanese, that's for sure (and not a native speaker/writer of English). He's also worked for a Japanese company and was stationed in London for a while. So I don't know where people are getting the idea that he's not Japanese from.
