Also, even if this is not a problem only in HxH, i don't like the way this nen power is managed. I don't see why the author bother put limitations of the kind "my power do this and that" and then this rules bend according to plot necessities. For example someone have power to make smoke, and then use this magical nen smoke to make smoke walls, pick things with smoke, time travel with smoke, having sex with smoke, clean the smoke out of air with smoke.
Hisoka becoming immortal because of his gummy power is a blatant example of what i mean. Too much bullshit.

What you need more? Just that basically imply they have been involved in a lot of shit. But most importantly this mean they are an hindrance for Hisoka, and this is a big no no if you want to keep living.

Killing him when he fought the cat would portray the ants strengths and danger well, as well as showing how special Gon was fairly (such power up came out cheap, even if he was crippled) while closing the character.

Killua trying to revive instead of healing him would be more poignant too, the Zoldyecks instances on death exposed and so on. The sister's power would be more significant and could even be related to revival instead of that broken wish crap.

The drama of Gon's death would break the fourth wall at the notion of his lost dream of meeting Ging. Leorio's punch would be better justified if directed at a father who didn't bother to show up at the funeral.

All that, could ensue a timeskip to the Dark Continent, portraying more capable and trained protagonists that wouldn't embark or be part of golden groups on protagonism alone. If Gon HAS to be alive, he could have been revived by Killua and sis, come back in his Gon-san form but with problems related to nen, and have now an interesting and more defined fighting style that could provide us insight in the nature of nen while explaining a rapid growth in power based on his Zyzz body.

Ant's strength and danger was shown pretty well when Pitou killed Kite and when Meruem was born. I also feel wish granting is better than revival, since it has more possibilities for misuse and repercussion, such as when Yasuha wished to be a billionaire and 68 butlers died from it.

Gon dying would be arguably more impactful, but one could argue that Ging attending the funeral wouldn't change anything, which wouldn't be the case if Gon was still alive. Also coming back in his Gon-san form wouldn't make sense, since Gon reverted back when he went comatose. Also, Gon did have nen problems after Nanika healed him.

Chrollo explained nen after death to him during the fight and the way he acted seemed like he'd heard of it before.

The nen-after-death thing isn't even that unknown. It was the reason the troupe didn't pursue Kurapika after he sealed Chrollo's nen. Hell, the troupe was probably where he first learned of it. Also Hisoka himself was unsure if it would've worked. He used his technique since he thought he was gonna die anyway and thus had nothing to lose.
