Why do anime always portrait mechs to be superior to tanks? Where does this meme come from?

If they weren't superior to mechs they wouldn't be used in the story retard.
Because its the cool, fancy weapon. Why are lasers the universal weapon in SciFi when they have a huge number of issues compared to a kinetic projectile?
>why does cartoon do unrealistic thing? are japanese people really like this???
Mecha drivers have hot blood where as tank drivers are cowards. Naturally hotblooded ones win.
We currently have tanks. Why would we make Mechs in the future if they weren't better than tanks?
This.

Tanks can't punch, kick, or use swords. All they do is shoot and ram into things.
That's DASAI.
To waste taxpayers' money?
I find tanks cooler than mechs
How the fuck is a newtype supposed to show off his skillz in that box?
I like them as well, and think they're underutilized, but that's how the thought process goes.
>Why are lasers the universal weapon in SciFi
Directed energy weapons are far from universal in SciFi.
90% of every weapon in just about any SciFi is going to be an energy weapon of some kind. All the major franchises use them, and they are synonymous with 'future' warfare.
Imagine an anime where the main character has a tank and that tank manages to take out a helicopter.
Also the main character is a girl with three eyes.

If mechs aren't more powerful than tanks, you have no excuse for what they are doing on the battlefield.
A tank can't have high speed sword fights on roller blades.
That's because tanks are made to be machines of war, not compete with Yuri On Ice.
Because in real life, Mechs would shit all over tanks depending on how advanced the tech is.
What makes you think tanks are better than mechs? Everybody said that planes would be pointless in combat when they were first invented and yet here we are.
You're forgetting aerodymanics and hitbox sizes.
>depending on how advanced the tech is.
Don't you think tanks would be advance too?
Tech advancement would result in mechs and not just more advanced tanks.
The only thing a mech could do better is handle a wider variety of terrain. And even if we got mechs for warfare, they almoat certainly wouldn't be bipedal.
Sorry, top paragraph was meant to have a question mark at the end.
Sexy.
...
Objects aren't well designed either.
they can fly over the tanks
That would only make them easier targets.
Bipedal mechs are an inherently inferior design to tanks and will never be viable. Powered armor might actually happen eventually though given there are already powered exoskeletons on the market.
The only reason mechs in Gasaraki were viable at all is because they were actually built using artificial muscle cloned from biomechanical power armors given to Japanese warlords thousands of years ago by ancient aliens. Webm related.
Just goes to show that everyone who shitposts the tank scene never actually watched the show. The mechs are effective purely because they aren't "realistic" even in-universe when you look at the actual technology behind them.
