>[HorribleSubs] Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu S2 - 08 [760p].mkv

>760p

I'm terribly sorry.

Kiku is looking worse ever episode

Pls help this moe old man find peace.

...

I don't remember much of season 1. What happened between these two?

RIP Boss Man

They can't keep getting away with all these cliffhangers!

Aaaaah, Yota's Shibahama was so good.

I love this.

And people say she doesn't love him.

The only thing I could imagine is that he somehow helped cover-up the deaths of Sukeroku and Miyokichi.

>that tongue

I nearly had a heart attack

>he couldn't wait untill Kiku's performance ends
What a motherfucker.

Fuck the police.

What is the significance of the candle going out in the OP?

I don't think the even appeared in S1. I think Kiku's refering to how he let Yotaro go without a hassle to become a storyteller, and didn't kill him for his rant in episode 3.

Seems like he was already friend with the boss even before taking in Yotaro.

Probably a metaphor for Kiku's life

You might want to give Shinigami a re-listen, it should answer your question.

The big secret has to be it was Kiku that slept with Konatsu that night she decided to preserve Sukeroku's lineage. Yakuza boss was the cover up and he's taking the secret with him to the grave.

Even if Konatsu decided to sleep with Yakumo (which I find unlikely), he would never in a million years go along with it.

Just saw it. Great episode as usual, but all that QUALITY was too distracting.

Konatsu just needed to have a child with any guy to "preserve Sukeroku's lineage", no reason to bang Kiku out of everyone.

I guess they're saving budget for later. The scene on the bridge looked pretty good though.

I think it looked good where it mattered.

the reason you guys think it's so absurd backs up that possibility and how it would be kept a secret between all involved. Konatsu. Yakuza Boss. Yakumo(???) has a secret debt with yakuza boss

i don't know why but i find this face fucking hilarious.

Yakuza boss didn't even name himself as the father, I really doubt that can be it.

Kind of: the backgrounds looked good, but the character models looked a bit wonky. Same on the restaurant scene.

This series has been consistently good, which made it more jaring. But that's why I believe is right.

Yeah, they were going a bit overboard with it for long periods of time this episode.

I'm glad that I decided to rewatch S1 this week. Else I wouldn't have recognized Yota's Shibahama.

Because it's a
>disgruntled anime man.jpg
reaction pic

He looks like a disgruntled old grandma.

>u lil shit i didn't say u could record my rakugo i'll end you m8

Manga readers, spoil me, does a miyo/sukeroku's deaths conversation with Konatsu ever happen?

Disgruntled is the perfect word to describe that expression. Kiku a cute

I dropped the first season (episode 3-4) and picked up the second season because I wanted to see what's so great about this.

I only recognize it cause of the picture of Sukeroku saying pic related.

but user, that was by far the best performance and scene in S1.

She obviously loves him now, but before the incident with the yakuza boss she tolerated him at best.

It's been a year. I only remembered that I really liked Sukeroku's last performance, but forgot all the details.

DIdn't they literally show Sukeroku's performance as a recording last episode?

But they just showed it again last week. Right?

I'm retarded, sorry.

It's funny but I'm actually convinced Kikuhiko is the father of Shin and let me explain why

>Shin has grey eyes and black hair like Kikuhiko
>Yakuza Boss natural hair is dark brown, grey eyes are darker
>Well you could say that his oldest son - one that will inherit the gang has black hair too. Could be from the mother that we never saw
>What was the point of the Yakuza Boss and what does he contribute to the story? The child Shin
>Yakuza Boss & Konatsu scenes = heavily had something to do with Shin
>Yakuza Boss & Yakumo scenes = do we even care about their relationship? serves no purpose to the story. Oh but BIG SECRET. A debt that Yakumo can't repay
>Must have something to do with Shin
>Kontasu told Yotaro that her decision to sleep with a man was to preserve Sukeroku's genes. why not fuck yakumo and create the ubermensch of rakugo. lower inhibitions
>Kiku still loved Miyokichi and Sukeroku, would have been weak to Kontasu's advances
>Kontasu said that Shin was the splitting image of Sukeroku and Yakumo. Why would she say that?

Fuck this! Fuck!
I'm mad but at least I understand that Yakumo will go perform at the prison for the boss.

I'm sorry but I just can't see Yakumo sleeping with Konatsu. He's not the kind of person to do that to someone he's responsible for. And even in the case that he's the father, I'm sure he'd take responsibility, and there's nothing in his actions towards Shin that would hint that.

I'd get why you would be against it but let me just challenge your last point. Kontasu said that she would independently raise the child on her own, she was very serious about that. Luckily Yakumo gave her a roof to raise the child. Yotaro stepped in at the very beginning too.

We have confirmation Konatsu was in love with Kiku
ay-16r.tumblr.com/post/157092426653/hi-everyone-i-decided-to-share-this-images-for
>It's from when konatsu was in middle school. Bon and the Yakuza dude talk about how bon hasn't married, say it's because of konatsu, say she's in love with bon. Bon then has "conversation" with shin about her complaining she's in love with him, but she's just a kid and he thinks she'll grow out of it... but he says that if she thinks that way as an adult he "gave her not as your daughter but another human". He then goes and talks to konatsu who had gotten in a fight and treats her wounds. She says something about wanting to kill him and he says crazy mean stuff about being prepared to keep that person with you forever and she cries, but he's trying to get her to hate him instead of be in love with him.

>>Shin has grey eyes and black hair like Kikuhiko
>>Yakuza Boss natural hair is dark brown, grey eyes are darker
But you forgot that
>Konatsu has red hair and both her parents are japanese
Genetics doesn't mean shit in this anime.

Why didnt yakuma stop the police? If anyone could its him.

He could have talked them into letting the big boss finish watching the show

I wish Yakumo was younger so he can do more Rakugo. I am going to be really sad when he dies.

what a shit ep

but like didnt yotaro recognize the yakuza boss as the father because he thought the baby looks like him?

the kid looks like the younger yakuza tho

...

...

That guy is a japanese mafia boss they've been trying to catch for years. I don't think the even word of a famous storyteller would be enough to get them to wait.

Why are people still discussing Shinnosuke's father. It's tiring to see the same user every week trying to push Yakumo fucked Konatsu. If he was the father the show would have said it rather than make Yotaro clash with yakuza.

...

Eh, we know that Konatsu had something of a crush on Yakumo from the last chapter of the manga already. But that's from when she was a young teen. She conceived the kid as an adult, and I don't think she had feelings like that for him anymore. And this extra also confirms she had a crush on yakuza boss, so wakarimasen.

That was a horrible. It ruined the mood and the episode.

>people ITT are actually siding against the police
To Guantanamo, with all of you.

YOU JUST KNOW

>Hey guys, sucking police's dick is delicious!

Yakuza lives matter, user. Boss dindunothin.

...

>that clap
Seems like Yakumo is performing Shinigami for the boss next episode. Also some spider's thread imagery, will the old man finally collapse?

>t. black lives matter

This anime is so brutal, every episode. It's not the apocalyptic hammer of doom like the ending eps of Assassination Classroom that just burn you away in a searing flash of emotional destruction, but it's this relentless mortar barrage of feels every week that's actually fatiguing, like death by inches. Such a superb production, I wish every show was held to a standard such as this.

They interrupted an old man's storytime. That's not nice.

Fucking pricks could have sat down around the room, allowed the performance, and THEN arrested Yakuza boss guy, it's not like he could have escaped from the room when it's full of fucking cops. Fucking pigs would ruin a wet dream.

...

Are there any other anime that deal with suicide in such a serious manner? In Welcome to the NHK it's sorta played for laughs as a big misunderstanding, but this episode was very blunt. Based on the knowledge of Kiku's personality, it's not just Konatsu talking out of her ass when she says he was planning on killing himself. Even to the audience it seems like a real possibility that they actually managed to prevent by being there.

>He's gone now. Dead.
>How come?
>That's a good question...
This shit is not okay.

Kiku is the best old man in anime.

fuck the police

In NHK it was treated as something serious too though. And no can't think of any.

But he used to be so young. What happened?

Worth watching? Sell me on it, Sup Forums

Just watch the first episode.

I watched the first episode when it aired but then there were no episodes for like a week and I never bothered continuing it

>then there were no episodes for like a week
Did the first season have a hiatus? I don't think it ever skipped a week.

Maybe he's talking about the OVA

So is next episode going to be Live At Folsom Prison: Rakugo Edition?

This isn't usagi drop. Enough of this nonsense already.

I'm actually excited to see this scene, it's what made Yotaro want to perform rakugo after all.

agreed

This entire performance was so touching.

Is he gonna tell this story in prison there?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spider's_Thread

>tfw this will be over soon

But if he was black he would have started shooting up the place as soon as the cops came in.

The part when Kiku opens his eyes and faces up (down?) gets me every time. It completely changes the meaning of the shot.

...

Several decades of fatalism and mostly self-imposed vacant misery.

Do not open.
