Just curious, what anime/manga you've watched/read gone suddenly south from what you expected?

Just curious, what anime/manga you've watched/read gone suddenly south from what you expected?

For me that'll be Air Gear. It started as a roller-skate sport anime at first and then... Look at the pic. WTF, Ito?

The storyline came crashing down the moment they introduced gravity children. I'm surprised you didn't say anything about Barry stealing one of the girl's body.

The tuner chicks were a fantastic addition though. Kururu should have ended up with Ikki.

Helck.

Gone from OPM style gag manga to some serious shit to boring shit to serious again.

Fire Punch

Not sure what I even expected but I like what I got.

this one

I've always considered Ringo crippling Simca to be around when it became irredeemably terrible. The Gravity Children were the moment it locked itself into never being able to go back to being a simple extreme sports manga with shonen battle elements, which was a dumb move in itself, but Ringo guilt tripping Ikki for getting angry about her permanently wounding Simca just because SHE decided she shouldn't be allowed fight and actually getting forgiven was just fucking rage inducing and a sign of the retardation to come.

I'm more surprised that they didn't get their bodies back. But the regalia shit is much more crazy.

Also, yea, Kururu/Ikki ftw.

the heck is that

>Cripples a non-combatant so she'll stay out of later fights and avoid any danger because Ringo has decided she gets to control other people's lives for them
>The non-combatant gets kidnapped from her hospital ward by the very people she was gonna try fight and is sexually abused and beaten while kept hostage for weeks
>Still never accepts any fucking blame for it

I fucking hate Ringo

It didn't go south, as much as gone completely off the rails and reinvented itself completely.

its just gotten better and better.

Why did people expect non-garbage writing from Oh Great?

Yeah.... Certainly a Bad Apple here.
She has her reasons, but they're bull.

this one too

It wasn't that bad.
I mean, the characters by themselves are pretty good, but the plot is zigzagging the fuck away.

Howso?

Outside of the first few chapters when it was finding its feet, it's always been a combination of fast paced humour and running jokes with the occasional emotional punch and good relationship progression.

o this one

this onee

Air gear was the first manga by him for a lot of people. They had no frame of reference for how fucking awful his writing is.

Plus the first few volumes were actually decent.

the lewd in this one is amazing

it was just echii in the beginning

I wish he would just lose his shit and SLAMMDOGG her into utter submission. he would probably go on a COCK RAMPAGE afterwards and then end up getting the samurai girls mother knocked up.

It went from fantasizing about titty rape to occasional titty rape to constant titty rape, pretty smooth progression.

If you've any experience with this author you should know that shotas getting titty raped is his thing. This is just him moving from hentai to seinen

The worst part of Air Gear was that the worst girl won when the best girl was in the lead for nearly 3/5 of the manga.

Just compare Ikki realising hos feelings for Kurumu to Ringo, too. I'm convinced OG making Ringo win was a last minute decision when you really look at the ikkirin montage included to justify it and realise like two thirds of it are incidental panels where they just happen to be in the same scene or one of them treating the other like shit.

Well, it's that or Simca forgiving the guy who beat and molested her for no real reason and deciding to nurse him back to health after he tried to help his brother destroy global society and murdered at least one of her friends.

it go more crazy that I would ever imagine

KURURU A BEST
RINGO A SHIT.
FIGHT ME!!

D.Gray Man and Tokyo Ghoul Re became absolute clusterfucks later on.

...

we didnt have sora vs kilik because ogure wasted chapters shipping ikki with ringo. FUCK. even obama knew who was best girl!!

I'm always astonished when people say they didn't catch on that this wouldn't be an ordinary extreme sports manga. It was obvious since the Behemoth fight.

>Tokyo Ghoul Re
Are you implying this piece of shit was anything but that all along?

She was nursing Nike back to health to get revenge by blueballing him.

>ctrl+f
>berserk
>phrase not found
Nigga, please.

How exactly what happens in Berserk is unexpected?
The first chapter of the manga is Guts having sex with a demon, which he kills 5 pages later.

...

at least you can understand air gear, but tenten was ridiculous, i remember when i was reading this shit, there was a moment when suddenly appears a giant fetus destroying the city!!! WTF OGUREEEE

I had no problem understanding either. O!G just likes metaphors.

what? How? It stayed practically the same until the end

>Fire Punch
>going from edgy shit to Samurai Flamenco
I'm enjoying the ride and it doesn't seem to stop spiraling.

It had such a great set up, but they blew it, they blew it hard.
Never have I seen a show nosedive as hard as this one.

Dat final arc.

do you really spec how crazy it when?

Kazu's final fight was worth it

I dropped it when Obama became a little girl. Someone pls tell me Ringo did win at the end.

Kazu is one of the best things about this manga, desu

was it your first battle Shonen? It's pretty standard IMO

what a change

>be destined for greatness
>a little shit kid you left on the side of the road ruins everything

I dont even know what his goal was, but did he die or just go to jail for forever? and the aunt was pregnant with his kid but looked like she was in despair.

The heck ya talking about?..

He's talking about the cripple. It's... pretty obvious if you've read the manga at all.

A lot of manga go off the rails at the end and are nothing like what they were at the start. It sucks.

Just like ninja wizards.

I always do pretty in depth research for every series that I watch, so I usually get what I'm expecting.

...

Gag manga dropping the gags always turns out badly, always.

When Gintama gets serious it's alright.

That and OBAMA.

....THANKS AMANO
it'd have been good if it wasn't killed off

That was the Air Gear of Shonen Jump

Does Shonen Sunday have one of these?

Yeah this and pic related are definitely the most "changed" ones imho

Byakuren had one of my favorite moves in fiction.

>implying she could get her shit back on track after that last arc

I just wanted a Mafia One Piece

White applause ?

Yep. So simple but nice to look at and shat on Tsuna almost every single time.

>Holy shit someone else watched Battle Athletes.

gotta say its a cool move, but it doesnt work all time.

Killed off? Didn't the manga completely finish out with the Rainbow Battles arc?

Air Gear turning into a battle-to-the-death between magic human experiments for global domination is still the weirdest thing I've ever seen, even after Master of Martial Hearts.

So you only read/watch things that are already finished, or what?

Ringo crippled Simca before the Gravity Children were revealed/explained, though.

Tsugumomo really is one of a kind show.

Trigun Maximum

It went from 0 to 100 way fast

She wasn't sexually abused Nike was too beta

Helck never dropped the gags completely, so it's good.
Ominous shit was always there, it was just really hard to take seriously at the beginning.

This series actually became good after the shitty gag start but then kinda went haywire and sadly never recovered.

I've been meaning to read this for a very long time but keep putting it off.

I've only seen the show Trigun. Is Maximum a different telling or a continuation of trigun (the show)?

its a different telling but some things are the same like the names and powers of some of the villains

D Gray Man was that enjoyable kind of generic shounen story with interesting art and designs, but it started to dip after Crowley's introduction. I lost hope for it around the time Lenalee got that haircut and Kanda's backstory was the nail in the coffin.

I have absolutely NO idea what the fuck is going on anymore. at all. and I've tried rereading several times.

>Alan is actually Neah
>but neah is mad at the earl because it's too late to 'pologiiiize, it's too laaaate
>but actually they're bros
>just kidding, they're yin yang babies or some shit
>just kidding, they just went undercover as babies
>and for that, the earl must be destroyed

what

>the scientist and his experiment "eve"
man probably the second most heart clenching plot line after the mother.
I wish I could literally cry.

its confusing but you just made it even more confusing like that.

so far we dont't really know for sure who or what the earl is

>allen is a "conspirator" of neah
>gave neah his body when he was at deaths door
>they're literally one soul split apart into brothers

Eh?

For me and my friend, The early part of it is a bit too generic shonen and it actually getting good from volume 4 (crowley) above.

The art greatly evolve, tough the escalation went a little too fast.

so was the aunt in despair and did the cripple go to jail?

what was his goal again? I don't hate ikki but goodness I felt mad when he beat the boss, felt like he deserve that.

I have decided to read berserk today

I was reading Tokyo Ghoul:re the other day and I got to the part where everything gets revealed all at once and it just felt like way too much. For about 15 chapters it was non-stop twists and information bombs and people dying, I never thought it would stop.

I'll always be grateful toReborn, it made me mature as a reader and realize that if a series is shit you can just stop reading it.

Bless it.

Damn, the paneling here is really good.

i want to drop tokyo ghoul re
it started off good and then took a nosedive in quality
im only really holding onto it because i loved the original
