There was a good programme on BBC the other day where these 2 indigenous women in the far north of Norway pulled a reindeer sleigh around for 2 hours. It was basically ASMR, there were a few cameras set up and no narration or music or anything. Cheers for the links, I might have a look through a few of these.
A subscription model would be more just in terms of allowing people to choose whether or not to pay for a service based on if they actually want it or not but it would deal a massive blow to BBC funding which would probably prevent them from getting anything good done. Even if you have separate subscriptions for the different channels or for different types of content you're still going to see less funding across the board and thus lower quality (and perhaps less ambition too).
At the end of the day you have to pick your poison. Either we keep the socialized TV or every channel is like itv and channel 4 (i.e. common crap).
