Fuck off.

why would I when all anime worth watching is dubbed?

Because I'm not a weeb in the real sense of the word.

Go back to /djt/

I don't like anime so much.

Get the fuck out

wakarimasta

I tried but either I am too stupid to learn or the guys on /djt/ where too stupid to teach.

Anyway, I'll try again in the future but for now I'm done with it.

how far did you make it?

...

A few chapters of Yotsuba took me hours to read. Gave up after.

日本語の勉強はもう済んでいるんだけど

I do.

If you're jumping into it with little foundation (

Because I'm too dumb for kanji.

>memes = recurring idea/s
>kanji = recurring idea/s
If you can learn thousands of memes you can learn thousands of kanji

nice appropriate dubs

IM LEARNING SO LEAVE ME ALONE
KILL YOURSELF

...

Ignorance is literally bliss. It'd lose its mysticism.

I'm trying, but my textbook seems a little weird.

what in the fuck

I'm way too lazy.

row 2 column 1, right?

I thought that's the only one I recognized but are the others real kanji too?

出来る!

To unintelligent to lern Japanese

Wrong

JUGEMU JUGEMU

...

>to lern
subtle

isn't this a djt meme?

somehow the whole idea of reading before even learning vocab and grammar just seems ass backwards.

Why couldnt japs come up with similar writing system as Koreans, its such a gigantic waste of human effort to make millions of people to learn kanji when literally anything else would make more sense.

because the Chinese invented it

Because you literally miss a bunch of jokes on animes due to not understanding japanese.
OP's pic related.

To keep the gaijin out

犬 太

Why couldn't the Koreans come up with a language that doesn't sound like someone choking to death on a boiled egg?

Language =/= writing system.

Yes I know, I was making a joke at the expense of the Koreans because it makes Kumeta happy.

If you can't translate a joke into the lingua franca of the entire planet, then it's not a good joke in the first place

Also Eu has danish people who speak like they have a hot potato in their mouth.

I'm guessing in japan the "cant have too easy to learn alphabet or plebs might become literate" faction won.

Why is this thread allowed everyday?

Because Kukuru is always allowed and well received/welcomed on Sup Forums.

does it upset you?

Looks like an egg being fertilized

I hate it

Korea used to have Kanji but they dropped because things would still make sense if they do. It's not the same for Japanese

I feel proud of myself for being able to read this

簡単な文だよ

Sorry for only responding now.

Sincerely? Nothing. I tried to read the hiragana first but it was very hard to memorize all of them. Then I tried to memorize some words but it was hard too. Anyway, now, aside from the vowels and some syllables, I still can't read phrases in hiragana, let alone translate them. Like I said I'm probably too stupid to learn.

PS: I spent 5 months trying.

>started learnig japanese
>gradually stopped following most of the seasonal anime because I'd rather read untranslated VNs
I barely keep up with 4-5 shows I'm watching this season. I wonder is it because of the novelty of being able to read Japanese media or I've come to accept that VNs are superior medium.

Manga is the superior medium. Though I guess VNs are the best for learning.

should I start reading VN's or manga first?

I know, but I didn't get that far into tae kim's guide before giving up

also my vocab is about 700 words and grammar is mediocre

...

Reminder that hiragana/katakana are basically simplified kanji

The japs never came up with a native writing system

HOLY SHIT

way to go m8

VNs are much easier for learning because you don't have to manually type and look up words you don't understand.

They aped most chinese characters and pronounce them/write them differently.

On another note
If I wanted to learn how to listen to and speak vs read write the language, could I just learn sentence structure and learn all the vocab in romanji?

I'd read VNs more but my hand always hurts after slamming the space bar for so long and auto is 2 slow

You can use kanjitomo for manga. Still easier with VNs though, I'll give you that.

...

...

...

Well done.

Try learning what the real meaning of the word is then.

>The japs never came up with a native writing system
To be fair, practically nobody has. It's extremely rare for a civilization to independently create a writing system. It's almost always borrowed from neighbors and adapted.

もう勉強している。

You're supposed to start with listening and pick up words naturally. Which shouldn't be hard for you guys, just turn the subtitles for some SoL show off. You'll understand more and more the more exposure you get.

Maybe I'm just to intelligent but I don't understand how people can have such a hard time studying kana. It literally took me 2 days to memorize each set decently.
Getting fluent is another story of course.

I am

Same here.
My VN backlog is so fucking long, and one VN takes at least 40 hours every time. All my free time is getting sucked up.
I haven't watched any show this season.

*wakarimashita

Faggot.

dostedt?

>started baldr sky
>significant portion of erogamescape users saying both parts took 100+ hours to finish
I've made a huge mistake.

I got bored a few weeks ago and decided to watch some namasensei videos. From there, I managed to learn both hiragana and kana tables really fast.

Now I downloaded Genki - when I'm done, I'll probably work on Kanji, or visit /djt/ to see if there's a proper order for this.

>tfw a bird can learn Japanese but I can't
youtube.com/watch?v=IQsBLiB90Hk

Kowai yo

黒い!

You could do that, but learning hiragana and katakana will take a lot less time than you'd think and is not the hard part of the language, and romaji will result in your waifu's death

SHINE

何とばかばかしいな疑問は、それ?

I am.

Holy shit I'm dying.

Is this satire or some kind of incredibly archaic textbook or something?

I am but since my family and friends found out about it I've been forced to study in secret, because they kept making fun of me, and as a result I'm barely making any progress.

Read Axanael. It's SUPER easy

Why doesn't Japan just use spaces and punctuation
insteadofhavingamessofcharactersthatareannoyingtoparsewithouthavingkanjiwords

I hate to admit it, but this sounds just like me. Plus it sounds hard as fuck. I don't want to spend years studying a language just to watch fucking cartoons.

It was a guidebook for American soldiers in Japan after WW2

You don't need them most of the time

It's not about that. It's about words that sound the same but are written differently

You know why.
