Why are people still talking about this show?

It was THAT good.

Some people just love love LOVE it.

How does that tail work?

>883

It's a buttplug.

...

I mean with the skirt. It's like phasing through it.

Don't do this to me, user. I can't be thinking about Cocona wearing a buttplug this soon before work.

I love cute Nyunyu.

I love the artstyle so much.

Those thick outlines, the stark contrasts, no blurry whiteness filter that was so popular around the 2000s, those big, trusty, eyes and the detail within them, the way they did blushes, the great many of expressive mimics leading to many reaction images...

Why is it so perfect? What went so right?

Maybe it's a magic buttplug tail.

That's very mean of the puppy.

The art style was so fantastic, it was one of my favourite parts of the show.
The characters were so interesting to look at and so expressive. And the hair, good god the hair was just incredible.

Small but vocal fanbase, much like Samurai Flamenco. It wasn't that popular in either Japan or the West.

is this as deep as neon genesis evangelion

ITT: nobody mentions the story.

>And I love love LOVE Mimi!
Back off, she's mine!

Because Flip Flappers celebrated being a visual media. While the pure plot itself is nothing spectacular, there is also nothing wrong with it.

I Love Love LOVE Flip Flappers!

Mimi belongs to Cocona and vice versa.

The plot was spectacular in quite a few ways. If nothing else, it was very successful at providing a story that could be told almost entirely through its visuals. I love the fact that they never gave us an exposition dump and never needed to

That it did, but I mean the pure plot on the paper isn't that amazing.

Shut the fuck up.

So Mimi is pretty much stuck in stasis with her body the exact same as it was at the time of the incident, right?
Does that mean she'll forever stay 19 as time passes and Cocona gradually ages past her? Do you think she'll still be clingy and possessive of her daughter when Cocona is in her 30's and Mimi is still basically just a sheltered teenager?

After all, Mimi can apparently visit Cocona in her dreams whenever she wants. Whatever feelings Cocona has towards her mom will be effectively inescapable as she's forced to confront them, one way or another, every night well into her adulthood. I wonder if she'll always have a soft spot for mommy and let herself get swept up in the intimate dream-doting of the physically younger woman that bore her, or if she'll eventually develop the emotional maturity to control the situation and get the love she wants from Mimi through words and body language without letting her teen mom's volatile temperament and PI omnipotence sway the balance of power.

Why?!

>Do you think she'll still be clingy and possessive of her daughter
They pretty much killed this part of her off, if I understand this part correctly. The Mimi left is the one that just wants to watch her from afar. Which is also a bit creepy, if you think about it

I wouldn't say so. It's just the mother-child bond, senpai.

They switched back, so the chill Mimi is the one back in control again. But at the same time, as the show repeatedly tells us, there never were two Mimis, it's all just 'Mimi,' so those overbearing and mildly erotic tendencies are still very much a part of the whole.

Or maybe you're right. After all, Mimi seemed to truly love Salt (enough to have unsafe sex with him at least), so maybe she's totally straight and comfortable keeping her distance and letting Cocona be her own independent person. That just means adult-Cocona would be the one initiating. After all, if her relationship with Papika works out, then she will be one very, very experienced lover by the time she's older. Seducing a flustered, uncertain Mimi who weakly protests but can't resist the things happening to her body would be second nature to Cocona after all that practice. Maybe in some way she'd feel an immense sense of gratification in 'turning' her disapproving straight mom and dominating the now-younger women with a confident tenderness that only Cocona could possess.

I wonder if Cocona ends up growing her hair out when she's older or keeping it short. For some reason, I imagine her keeping it in a long ponytail and only letting it down for special, tender moments. I like to picture the two shades of dark silk, daughter and mother, mingling as they rock the boat together.

>Cockona

Who cut Mimi's umbelical cord when she gave birth to Cockona? Did Papika bite it off?

I want to talk about the plot, not your erotic fanfiction.

I'm down for either but what part of the plot do you want to talk about?

Yes.

But I like his erotic fanfiction.

This was my favorite plot. What do you think about it?

It's preety massive

...

That's my favorite too.

With the advent of Little Witch Academia Episode 8, Flip Flapers have become obsolete.

Still makes me giggle every time.

>Little Shill Academia
>good

You're not flapping your flippers right. Episode 8 of LWA it is the definitive version of the Flip Floper experiment. Must be embarrassing, being outdone by another show's one (1) episode.

Please no war between the series. Both are good for different reasons.
LWA threads are shit, though

What genre is Flip Flappers, exactly?

yuri ¿

Jungian.

I like both.

>And I love love LOVE Mimi!
Stop right there.
Mimi is shit. She doesn't deserve love.

Evangelion of Madoka

I guess "parallel world fantasy" or somesuch.
There's actually quite a lot of stories, typically aimed at teenagers, which follow the similar concept of "character lives in our world but goes on frequent, breif adventures in a fairytale wonderland" and most of them hit all the same features with the faiorytale world having some mysterious, ominous underpinning that's left unexplained and intentionally misleading, and some creepy adult science-organization seeking to explore/control this parallel world while also being antagonistic. In general I guess you could call it a sort of fantasy-picaresque (picaresque generally being an episodic travel narrative)

I just don't think there's super specific genre tags for it because it's typically treated as children's fiction and not taken seriously, whereas you can pretty easily see why Flip Flappers is definitely not limited by it.

The standalone-ish episodes like 3 and 5 and whatnot involve elements of pastiche, which is basically just a mashup or complementary combination of genres and aesthetics (eg. 5 mixing all-girls boarding school yuri with horror).

The way the Jungian stuff was used was very modernist, and in fact the style of narrative and exposition in general is pretty distinct of modernist literature and film directing, though that's more of a stylistic thing and a thematic approach rather than a genre.

>ywn send a card to oshiyama and get a retweet
Why even live?

I told them to let go. Must be reverse psychology at work.

So the ending still left open the possibility that the last "pure illusion" was actually reality, right?

I just can't shake that last bit of scenery and things like that realistic Uexkull.

How do you feel about their long wispy limbs and ample yet soft posteriors?

Reality doesn't have giant butterflies in the sky, and they could henshin in that world too.

It was Salt's PI, which is why it was flatly coloured, boring and logical except for the colourful magical butterflies. Those were his joy in life

I'm talking about that final one with the black uniforms

The fact that I'm not the one who normally posts it is concerning. I take it as a bad sign if I enter a FliFla thread and don't see it.

>all those subtle hints about Papika being Cocona's midwife

I love Yayaka.

Flap.

I got a like so I can die happy now

Cocona seems to be the only one with an ample posterior, to be honest.

The Papibutt is tight and modest to accompany her slender yet extensive legs, and we never really got a good look at Mimi's (though I'm sure her daughter got it from somewhere)

Reality is the worst Pure Illusion.

I love hersince episode 9

So am I. There were giant rainbow butterflies in the sky of that world

I dare you I double dare mention the story.

...

I think Mimi's butt is much like Cocona's, but a little larger.

>there never were two Mimis, it's all just 'Mimi,' so those overbearing and mildly erotic tendencies are still very much a part of the whole.
Hmm, pretty good here. Did your research.

>I like to picture the two shades of dark silk, daughter and mother, mingling as they rock the boat together.
WHAT IS THIS FUCKING SHIITE???

I want to fuck a cat

LWA ep 8 is the true rendition of nothing outside of the animation, sadly.

Unless something made is new, these threads won't make it past 2018

...

>modernist
What you do mean?

>there's a butt in this world even larger than Cocona's

And it's getting me all hot and bothered.

Baka. I still make threads about 2007 shows like Myself;Yourself.

It's too much to explain in a Sup Forums post but mainly the idea of sitting characters into multiple representations (good vs evil Mimi, 2 Iros, episode 7) and the idea of having a sort of layered ideological framework supporting the plot and surface-level aesthetic are very modernist.

I kinda imagine Mimi being thicker around the waist and thighs but less so in the butt directly. If her rear was really bigger than the cocobutt then it would have been bulging out the back of her dress but we don't even get so much as an outline in back shots. Cocona certainly inherited her mom's ass genes, but she's an iteration on the formula.

And the best part is that Cocona's still got a few growing years left in her. Her ass will be a Japanese legend by the time she's her mom's age.

Flip Flap official account likes LWA too.

They no longer like it.

You're a fucking cunt.

Well, whoever runs that account liked it at least.

You may be right, I'm no butt scientist, just an amateur enthusiast.

Good

a cat is fine too

I still haven't watched this shit.

Good. It'll only hurt you in the end.

Apparently not for Cocona

...

Where is the BDMV?

Some guys tolds me that anime was a dud, The writing at the end is getting worse.

There are some awkward lines here and there and it lost some subtlety, but it's overall still a great ending.

>awkward lines
Show me four lines. I bet you can't.
