Berserk Thread

When did the series jump the shark for you Sup Forums?

That moment when you step'd back & knew the series had lost it's momentum and luster

"Nailed it." - Miura

What did he mean by this?

It happened after the eclipse for me

It's when Guts started getting video gamey items and shit. The fight between that moth girl was really fucking good but we rarely ever see him so motherfucking angry and raw like that ever again.

After the sea god. I could put up with the hiatus and side tracked stories but Miura's art going to shit was the final straw.

The symbolism in this is too dope

That armor was mentioned before the eclipse.

Honestly i love when he's fighting hordes of either humans or demons and just slashes them like butter, and everyone around him is like: Is he even human? What kind of beast is he, etc etc.
It gets me so hard

Schierke a cute

This remember the dinner scene with farnese & her family in the ballroom

...

How have you boys been liking the game?

When the series became ridden with nonstop hiatus and left us constantly wondering if there will be a climax worth waiting for

...

How come Miura never writes that anymore?

After writing Berserk for almost 20 years you'd start forgetting those catchphrases. But He seems to keep it alive with the mob reaction to his fighting style/sword always to remind us of it.

The last time I was hyped was when Zodd and Guts teamed up to fight the emperor

I guess I'd say it jumped the shark when the Skull Knight played into the god hand's plan all along

There are really good moments after the eclipse (like the war against Ganishka or Guts vs Mozgus), but I still think that golden age is the best berserk arc. It's more concise and has very relevant character development. When Guts takes Casca back, his development scenes are reduced to "I don't have patient with this bitch but I'm supposed to save her".

You faggots should simply accept that post-eclipse Berserk is shitty in terms of characters. "Berserk is even better after GA" is a meme.

not really
its just that most of the developement has gone towards side characters like farnese and rickert

Pretty much Miura is trying to convey the message that Guts cannot do everything alone, he'll fail and all will be lost. That's why you see developments with the other characters, so the series doesnt just become a shitfest of an overpowered MC with a fatal flaw, and noone else can do shit.

Tell me: Can he go now and defeat Griffith? on his own city? all by himself? If any answer of these is no, then you see why this is taking its time.

Farnese is a weak character than has only gotten more boring and vanilla as the manga went on.

I want to adult attack every loli Miura draws.

but user, that's gay

Jesus christ I forgot how disturbing that arc was.

Also is it just me or does anyone else miss the short arcs with their own self contained stories and characters like TLC arc?

The only such small scale, self contained arcs are The Black Swordsman arc and the Lost Children "arc"/story.
I agree tho, they had a certain charm that a continuous ongoing story can't capture but now that the ball is rolling this hard in regards to major story characters and goals I can't see how Miura can fit another such arc in unless it's a flashback or something like the Serpico/Farnese backstory flashback.

I'd like remind all of you who the real best girl is

The problem is that those side characters aren't very compelling when they get too much screentime. The so-called JRPG party actually suffers from exactly the same problem as 99% of RPGs - the bigger the "core" party, the shittier the dynamics.

she wants that sword inside her

The hottest troll guts awards easily goes to her.

The ship
Vandimion arc before i actually liked quite a lot, this whole "magic is dieing" feeling of the big city made the whole story before that even more bizarre by contrast
But on the ship and later on avalon i couldnt shake off the feeling that miura is writing himself in a corner
The whole world tree thing, avalon having time go differently and so on, i just dont see how can the story go on with all this stuff unless gutz will loose the status of main character and it will basically become a "fictional history of fictional fantasy world" or alternatively shitloads of drama and asspulls

>avalon having time go differently
This is a large buildup for whenever Guts returns to Middleland. He'll face out against an "united" country

>Guts returns and is greeted by Rickert and Silat's technologically advanced army preparing to lay siege to Falconia and battle Griffith's demonic Neo-Band.
Still possible that we'll have some glorious Ubik and Conrad fuckery with Casca's dream stuff.

When the flashback started, really.By the fourth volume I waited till it was over to marathon it.
I'm with this user, , the tiny arcs are why I came and I would have been the happiest man if this was just about an insane Guts pursuing apostles with a crazy Farnese pursuing him for twenty years.

But that would make him too much of a Gary stu

Berserk definitely jumped the shark when Rickert built an RPG.

Think the problem is that Miura has gotten old and doesn't have that edgyness in him anymore. Berserk was extremely violent and murder porn-ish at times but he's mellowed out over the years and wants to draw lighter, happier shit.

His downfall is that he's also a perfectionist that draws everything by himself and doesn't use any assistants.

He's also gotten enough clout with his franchise that he can live off of movie deals and TV shows and merchandising so he literally has no compelling motive to give a shit about the story anymore until it gets milked dry and he's out of a job.

I think its a shame to say this but at this point I doubt the series will end anytime in the next 10 years. And if it does, it will be some washed out, irrelevant ending that offers no closure to the decades of buildup he's made.

Basically the way Blade of the Immortal ended. With the exact same syndrome of the main character being relegated to the sidelines for the final arc of the series.

Vagabond will follow this path too.

What the fuck? I didnt even know people thought berserk went bad. Im still enjoying it as much as I did at the start.

you could say he pretty much changed his targeted audience

>changed his targeted audience
With Berserk that is literally impossible. No matter how lovey dovey, jrpg, power of friendship it gets it's not going to attract the SAO audience because they will have to get through the first arcs to get to those chapters that target that audience

Anyone else here finding it hard to stay enthusiastic because these damn breaks chopping up the momentum?

>April release

We already knew it, but it's confirmed.

No fucking shit digital art for Eclipse 2.0, please...

The Chinese had mortar launchers as quickly as gunpowder was invented.

>doesn't use assistants

What the fuck is this meme?

He's been with Studio Gaga for decades.

Stop typing bullshit.

Lost Children was the shit.

>Makes a body out of troll guts
>Proceeds to troll Guts
10/10

Absolutely. She's the best girl by far. And not only that, but her breasts are arguably the best in a series where everyone has perfect perky breasts. It's as if Miura spent a great amount of time making them perfect compared to the rest of the girls.

You don't have to remind me

Post yfw the Lost Children arc will never get an adaptation outside of the manga

...

...

...

When is this bitch going to show up and try to kill Guts? I'd love some closure for her character after, what's it been, 30 years?
